A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 191 – 200

My heart sank at his words, feeling them like a cold wind sweeping through the garden. “So you’re going to keep me in the dark? You’re going to shut me out?” I felt the sting of frustration and hurt rising within me. “I thought we were past that.”

“I’m trying to protect you,” he said, his voice low and strained. “If you knew the truth, you might not want to be with me anymore.”

“Is that what you think?” I shot back, my emotions boiling over. “That I would run away from you because of your past? Because of the darkness you carry? I’m not afraid of you, Lucifer. I’m afraid of losing you.”

He looked at me then, his eyes searching mine for something—reassurance, perhaps. But all I could offer was my unwavering resolve. “Please, just tell me.”

But he shook his head, the weight of his silence more oppressive than the words he refused to share. “I can’t. Not now. But I need you to trust me, Selene. You need to take care of yourself, and I need to handle my own demons.”

The ache in my chest deepened. “Fine,” I said, forcing a small smile to hide my disappointment. “If you won’t share your burdens with me, at least let me help in some other way. You haven’t eaten, have you?”

He shook his head, a faint glimmer of gratitude in his eyes. “I haven’t had the appetite.”

“Let me get you something,” I offered, rising from the bench. “I’ll head to the kitchen. I’m sure the staff can whip up something for you.”

“Don’t worry about me,” he said, but I could see the flicker of appreciation in his gaze. It was a small victory, but one I clung to as I made my way toward the kitchen.

As I walked through the garden, I felt a renewed sense of purpose. I would find a way to break through his walls, to discover the truth he was so desperate to keep hidden. But as I stepped through the door leading back into the mansion, the atmosphere shifted.

The hallway stretched out before me, but it felt different somehow. The air was lighter, almost electric, as if I had crossed an invisible threshold. The walls shimmered with an intensity that made me pause, my heart racing as I glanced around.

I took a step forward, but the hallway felt unfamiliar. The lights overhead pulsed like living things, bright and blinding. I blinked, trying to adjust, and when I looked again, the hallway had transformed into something almost surreal.

It was as if I had stepped into another realm entirely. The colors were vibrant, the air filled with a heavy, sweet scent that pulled at my senses. I felt disoriented, as if I had been transported to a different version of the mansion.

“Selene,” a voice called, drawing my attention. I turned, startled to see a figure sitting against the wall. He was tall and lean, with raven-black hair that fell effortlessly around his face and eyes that were as dark as coal. They seemed to absorb the light rather than reflect it, drawing me in with an unsettling intensity.

“Who are you?” I asked, my voice steady despite the sudden rush of fear. I felt like I was standing on the edge of a precipice, staring into the unknown.

He smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “I’m someone who’s curious. Why does Lucifer trust you so much?”

The question hung in the air, heavy with implications. I took a step back, instinctively raising my defenses. “What do you mean? Who are you?”

He tilted his head, observing me with a predatory gaze. “Just a concerned observer. He is still here because of you”

“So you’re saying I don’t deserve his trust?” I countered, anger flaring within me. “You don’t know anything about me or what I mean to him.”

“Perhaps not,” he replied, his tone casual, as if he were discussing the weather. “But I’ve lived long enough to know that you need to die in order for him to leave”

I felt my pulse quicken, a mix of anger and confusion swirling within me. “Where is he supposed to be?”

He chuckled, the sound low and dark. “lucifer did not tell you?” he smile ” Lucifer needs to be in hell”

I took a step closer, narrowing my eyes. “Why are you here? What do you want?”

“I want you out of his life” he said, his gaze piercing through me. “Lucifer shouldn’t be here, none of us deserve to be here but father keep sending us to take him back”

“you should talk to him, not me” I felt the heat rising in my cheeks, my frustration boiling over. “You don’t have the right to ask me to leave”
