“I need to go back” Marcus said, his eyes fixed on the spot where Katharina was sitting.
Just as Jenkins made to turn back towards Katharina, Emily suddenly dragged her up and they walked away.
“Sir, should I follow them?” Jenkins asked, raising an eyebrow.
Marcus hesitated, his eyes fixed on the retreating figures. He didn’t even know her name or anything about her,Yet, there was something about her that drew him in.
“No, just drive home instead” he said finally and Jenkins nodded.
“Not interested in clubbing anymore?”
Marcus shook his head.
“Yes, I will update Williams about it” he said bringing out his phone to text the supposed ‘Williams’. He’s actually Marcus’ best friend and they both agreed to meet at the club tonight but Marcus isn’t interested in that anymore.
As the car drove away, Marcus couldn’t help but wonder about the lady he saw a while ago. He had a feeling their paths would cross again, but for now, he had other matters to attend to.
The car pulled up to the grand entrance of Marcus’s mansion, and he stepped out onto the driveway before he made his way inside, he heard Natalie’s laughter from the living room and he sighed.
He found her laying on the couch, watching a comedy show. She wore a white singlet and black shorts, her hair tied up in a messy bun.
Natalie immediately sprang up from the couch when she sensed his presence, a bright smile on her face.
“Hey, baby! Welcome home!” she exclaimed, heading towards him with open arms.
But Marcus raised a hand, palm outwards, stopping her in her tracks.
“Hey, Natalie. I’m tired. Just need some space, okay?”
Natalie’s face fell, her smile fading. “Oh, okay. Sure thing” she said, her voice laced with disappointment.
“What of my daughter?” He asked.
“She’s inside in her room,she has refused to talk to me since I came” Natalie said.
“Have she eaten?”
“I..I don’t know about that”
Marcus’s anger boiled over as he turned to Natalie.
“My parents brought you to this house for a reason, remember? That’s to be a mother figure to my daughter. But you don’t even know if she has eaten or not? What kind of caregiver are you?”
“I-I was just watching TV, I didn’t think-” she was saying but Marcus cut her off.
“That’s enough. Please don’t let this repeat itself again, I’m not always home to watch over her. Hazel can be handful at times,even the workers don’t escape her bratty nature”
“I understand now Marcus,I will try my best” she said and held his hand and hr released his hand from her grip and Natalie frowned slightly.
“Your mother called me this afternoon, and she wants us to come to the house with Hazel. She said it’s important” she said and Marcus nodded.
“I will inform Hazel”
“I will just change my outfits” Natalie said and she rushed to her room happily.
Marcus went upstairs to Hazel’s room and he met her on her bed playing games on her tablet.
“I don’t like her” she said without looking at him, focused on her game.
“Who don’t you like, sweetie?” he asked, already guessing the answer.
“Natalie. I don’t like her” She crossed her arms over her chest, her face set in a stubborn expression.
“You will grow to like her, kiddo”
“Never. Wait dad,will you marry her?” She asked with wide eyes leaving Marcus tongue tied.
“Let’s forget about that right now”
“No,I want you to assure me that you won’t marry her” Hazel said.
“I won’t, okay? Just try to like her and allow her to treat you like her daughter. You really need a motherly figure in your life,you need it” he emphasized on it and she hissed.
“Whatever” she rolled her eyes and he chuckled.
He doesn’t plan to marry Natalie anyway,he only allowed her so she could help him take care of Hazel since his parents didn’t allow him to get a nanny but he doesn’t know his parents plans now.
“Kiddo,get dressed. We are visiting grandma this night” Marcus announced and Hazel’s face lit up with a bright smile.
“Yay! I love Grandma’s house! Can we get ice cream on the way?”
“We’ll see, sweetie. But first, let’s get ready and go say hi to Grandma!”
“I’m so excited! Grandma’s the best!”
“That’s cheating,what about grandpa?”
“I love grandpa too but I don’t like the fact that he scolds me all the time and I can’t wait to see Mason and Madison” she squealed and he smiled.
“I’m sure the twins will be happy to see you” he kissed her forehead.

BLACKWOOD MANSION*
The car pulled up to the Blackwood Mansion.
“We’re here! We’re here!” Hazel said as she came down from the car.
“Let’s go say hi to Grandma” he said as he held Hazel’s hand, Natalie tailing behind.
As soon as they walked in, Hazel spotted her grandma and ran to her, throwing her arms around her neck.
“Grandma! I missed you so much!”
Mrs Blackwood(Julian) laughed and hugged her back.
“I missed you too, sweetie. Come give Grandpa a hug too”
Hazel reluctantly let go of her grandma and turned to her grandpa, who was sitting in his favorite armchair, a stern expression on his face. But as soon as Hazel approached him, his face softened, and he opened his arms to her.
“My Hazel. Good to see you”
Hazel hugged him briefly before turning back to her grandma.
“Where are Mason and Madison now?” She asked.
Just then,the twins,who are in the teens came down the stairs and Hazel’s face lit up with a bright smile as she rushed to hug the twins.
“Mason! Madison!” she exclaimed, throwing her arms around them.
“How are you Hazel?” Madison asked her with smiles.
“I’m fine!”
Madison’s eyes landed on Natalie, and she smiled.
“Role model!” she exclaimed, opening her arms to hug Natalie.
“Sweetie!” she said, hugging Madison back.
“Hey, Uncle Marcus! It’s been long you visited us”Mason said.
Marcus smiled and ruffled Mason’s hair.
“It’s been work, Mason”
“Shall we head in for dinner? I think everything is ready” Julian said, and Hazel’s eyes lit up.
“Yeah! I’m starving!”
The family laughed and made their way to the dining room.
“So Hazel how do you see Natalie?” Julian asked and there was silence.
“I’m not a lier so I will just be honest here, I don’t like her” Hazel said and Natalie face fell. How will she get this little brat to like her?
“Hazel you will have to learn to like her because she’s getting married to your dad soon” Mr Blackwood(Leonard) dropped the bombshell, Marcus and Hazel looked at him at once.
“What!?” She exclaimed.
“Yes my dear, your behaviour is getting out of hand and you need someone that can handle that, Natalie will do that” Julian added.
“I lost my appetite” Hazel dropped her spoon loudly and then she stormed out of there, going upstairs to the room she stays whenever they come visiting.
“There’s nothing to say Marcus,this is for Hazel’s good. The news of her bullying other students gets to me all the time and the teachers complain about her being rude too. I know you don’t know of this because you are always busy but now you know” Leonard said and Marcus didn’t say anything, Natalie on the other hand couldn’t stop smiling.

NEXT DAY AT MRS GRAY’S HOUSE*
Katharina can be seen in Emily’s room dressing her up for school. Mrs Gray left for her store already and Katharina plans to go join her later.
“Thanks for dressing me up,my mum doesn’t do that because she’s always in a rush” Emily said.
“It’s okay dear,I’m happy to help out” she smiled at her.
“Can you take me to school today?”
“What of the school bus?”
“I don’t want to take it today, I want you to take me” she pouted.
“Alright I will” Katharina said and she smiled.

SPRINGDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL*
“Hazel I’m not happy with you at all,how can you be bullying other students? Don’t you know it’s a bad thing?” He scolded her as they got to the school, Hazel only crossed her arms stubbornly.
“It’s a bad thing if you don’t know. I won’t be able to take you to school from now on” he said and she looked at him.
“Why?”
“Natalie will be the one to take you from henceforth” he said.
“No dad, I don’t want that. You’ve been the one taking me from the beginning so don’t stop it,I didn’t even allow the drivers to take me to school”
“You just need to bond more with her, she seems like a nice person”
“Nice indeed! Are you seriously gonna marry her?”
“Hazel let’s not talk about that now”
“Bye dad!” She left the car angrily , heading to her class. He shook his head, wondering what he was going to do with his stubborn daughter.
Just then, his eyes landed on a woman walking towards the school gates. The woman from yesterday!
Without thinking, Marcus opened his car door and got out, his eyes fixed on the woman as he approached her.
“Hi, I’m Marcus” he introduced, Katharina looked up and her eyes met with him, recognising him as the man from the restaurant-her greek god!
“I’m Katharina” she said smiling.
Katharina. The name sounded like music to his ears.
“I want to ask a question,can I?”
“Yes you can”
“Why are you so beautiful?”
