“Don’t! Don’t you dare! Don’t even try it! Just don’t!”
Natalie immediately jerked up and that commanding voice seems to make Marcus open his eyes,he and Natalie slowly turned their eyes to the owner of the voice, Hazel.
She was glaring angrily at Natalie.
“Kiddo,I thought you are asleep already and why were you shooting that way?” Marcus asked her.
“Dad,she was trying to kiss you” she said and Marcus turned his gaze to Natalie who averted his intense look.
“I…I only wanted to clean up a stain on your lips” she stammered,all she could think of was how to strangle this useless girl to death,she just ruined her chance to kiss Marcus.
“You are obviously lying, everything about you disgusts me. You are so fake and I will never like you no matter how you fucking try!”
“Hazel, I understand your concerns, but please refrain from using that kind of language. It’s not appropriate, and I won’t tolerate it” Hazel crossed her arms, her face scrunched up in a stubborn pout.
“But why not?! I hate her! She’s so fake and annoying!”
“Hazel, that’s enough. You will not speak like that in my presence, and you will treat Natalie with respect”he said Hazel rolled her eyes.
“Whatever, Dad. You always take everyone’s side but mine!” She stomped her foot looking annoyed.
“It’s not fair! I hate this! I hate her!”
“Hazel, calm down. Your spoilt brat routine is getting tiresome!”
“I hate you, Dad! And I hate her even more!” She turned and stormed out of the living room angrily, leaving Marcus and Natalie in an uncomfortable silence.
“You know, I never raise my voice at my daughter, but you managed to bring out the worst in me. Never, ever try to kiss me again. Do you understand?” Natalie nodded slowly.
“I’m sorry”
Marcus turned and walked away, leaving Natalie standing alone. He headed straight to Hazel’s room. He tried to open the door, but it was locked. He knocked softly and called out her name.
“Hazel, sweetie, please open the door. We need to talk” he said but there was no response. He knocked again, louder this time.
“Hazel, open the door! We’re not done talking!” But the door remained shut, and Marcus was left standing outside, feeling helpless and worried.
“I’m sorry okay?”he said and he could only hear her sniffing from inside and that made his heart break into pieces,he hates seeing her in tears.
“Just go away dad,go”
“Hazel please”he begged.
“I only wanted to save you from that fake woman but I ended up getting scolded,just go to her”
“And I’m grateful for that,i was only scolding you to refrain from using the f- word and again , she’s older than you Hazel and you should give her that respect”
“I respect those who deserves it”
The door suddenly revealing Hazel standing at the door, her eyes red and puffy from crying. Marcus’s face lit up with relief and concern, and he quickly wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into a tight hug.
“I’m so sorry, kiddo,I’m so sorry I yelled at you. I love you, Hazel, and I’m here for you, no matter what” Hazel resisted at first, her arms crossed and her body stiff, but as Marcus held her, she slowly relaxed, her tears resuming.
“I hate her, Dad” she whispered, her voice muffled against his chest.
“I hate her so much”
“I know, baby. I know. But we’ll get through this together, okay?” Hazel nodded, her tears slowly subsiding as she clung to her father.
“Just assure me that you won’t get married to her no matter what”
“I promise. My parents are just bluffing, Okay?” He said and Hazel smiled.
“When is she leaving our house? She’s not homeless or is she?”
“Let’s just let her stay here for a while”
“Fine”
“What can I do to make it up to you, kiddo? What do you want? Ice cream? A movie night? A new dress? Just name it, and it’s yours”
“I want…I just want you to get rid of her, I want you to send her away, and never let her come back” she said and Marcus sighed.
“Is that really what you want for me to make it up to you?” He asked and Hazel nodded.
Her face suddenly brighten up like she remembered something.
“You know what would make me happy, Dad? A day out with just us three – you, me, and Katharina. No Natalie, no one else. Just us”
“That will be cool but I’m still wondering how you know Katharina”
“I saw when you were talking to her at my school and also when she came to visit you at the hospital,she’s really pretty”she said and Marcus smiled.
“Yeah she is”
“But I’m sure my mum was prettier,I wish I knew her” Hazel said looking sad.
“Your mom was an amazing person, kiddo. She was kind, smart, and beautiful, inside and out. You look a lot like her, you know?”
“Yeah you told me”she said.
“She was my best friend, my partner in every sense. We had our ups and downs, but we loved each other deeply. And she loved you so much, even before you were born”
“I wish I could have met her”
“I know, baby. But I’m here for you, and I’ll always be here to tell you stories about your mom, and to support you, no matter what” Hazel nodded, her face still wet with tears.
“Thanks, Dad. I love you”
“I love you too, kiddo. More than anything”
“And please don’t die and leave me alone. The night you were shot,I wasn’t myself because I’m not ready to loose you dad” she said and Marcus drew her closer.
“I’m not dying Hazel, at least not now”He assured her.

NEXT DAY AT BLACKWOOD WINE COMPANY*
Marcus’s fingers flew across the keyboard, his eyes fixed on the screen as he worked on his laptop. The office was quiet, the only sound was the soft hum of the air conditioning and the occasional chirp of his phone.
Just as he was about to finish up, his secretary, Rhea knocked on the door and entered.
“Sir, you have a visitor” she announced and Marcus looked up.
“Who is it?”
“It’s Vinson Reginald, CEO of Vinson Enterprises. He’s requesting to see you”
Marcus frowned a little. What did Vinson want? They were rivals in the wine industry, and Marcus had no business with him
“Tell him I’m busy” he said dismissively.
“Sir, he seems quite insistent. He says it’s urgent and concerns a matter of mutual interest”
“Fine. Send him in”
Rhea nodded and left, returning moments later with Vinson,a handsome tall man dressed in an ash suit.
“Marcus Blackwood. We need to talk”he said as he took a seat before Marcus and Rhea left the office.
“What could you possibly want to discuss, Vinson Reginald?” he asked.
Vinson Reginald smiled, a cold, calculating smile.
“Let’s just say it’s a business proposition. One that could benefit both our companies”
Marcus leaned back in his chair.
“I doubt that. You’ve been trying to sabotage Blackwood Wine Company for years. Why would I want to do business with you now?” He said and Vinson chuckled.
“Ah, but that’s where you’re wrong, Marcus. This is a unique opportunity. One that could change the game for both of us”
“Go on”
“I propose a merger between Blackwood Wine Company and Vinson Enterprises. Together, we can dominate the market and crush our competitors”
Marcus laughed, a harsh, dismissive sound.
“You think I’d ever agree to that? You’ve been trying to destroy me for years, Vinson Reginald. Why would I want to join forces with you now?”
“Because it’s the smart thing to do, Marcus. Together, we can achieve greatness. Apart, we’re just bitter rivals fighting over scraps”
“No deal, Vinson Reginald. I’ll never sell out to you. Blackwood Wine Company will always be mine, and mine alone”
“Foolish decision, Marcus. You’re passing up a chance at greatness. But I’ll be back, and next time, you won’t have a choice” and with that Vinson stood up and left the office.

MRS GRAY’S STORE*
“Don’t worry dear, you will find a more greater work” Mrs Gray said for the umpteenth time since all Katharina kept doing was sigh all day.
“I hope so” Katharina said. She knows what would have happened if that happened at Valdoria, she would have punished the person but she can’t do that here.
A woman and a man suddenly entered and Katharina immediately recognise the woman as the manager of the coffee shop and then the man who smacked her @ss.
Katharina’s eyes widened in shock as they prostrated themselves on the floor before her.
“Please, Katharina, forgive me! We were so wrong to treat you like that!” her manager cried out.
“I’m so sorry for my actions, Miss Katharina. I had no right to touch you like that. Please, forgive me!”
Katharina’s eyes darted back and forth between them, her mind so confused . What was going on? Why were they apologizing to her like this?
“Uh, guys, what’s going on here? Why are you apologizing to me like this?”
“I’m so wrong to treat you like that, Katharina,” her manager said.
“Okay, I appreciate the apology. But please, get up. You’re embarrassing me”
“We’re so sorry, Katharina,” they said in unison as they got up.
“I promise to never treat you like that again and I accept you back to work”
“She’s not going to be working at your place anymore, miss beauty deserves better and now get out” came Marcus voice as he came in with his sunglass on and a confident smile.
They quickly scrambled to their feet and hurriedly left the store, not daring to look back.
Katharina stared at Marcus like she’d seen a ghost. What was he doing here? And how did he find out Mrs Gray store?
“Mr. Marcus at my store? The day is my luckiest day” Mrs. Gray exclaimed, a huge smile on her face.
Marcus turned to Mrs. Gray and smiled
“Ma’am, always a pleasure. But I’m here for Katharina. She’s coming with me”
“She’s all yours ” Mrs Gray quickly said and Katharina looked at her and then at Marcus unable to say anything.
