CHAPTER 20
NEXT DAY~ SKYLINE CORPORATIONS
It’s been a hella busy day for Maxwell, and there has been no rest since he arrived, from one work to another.
He left his table once again and rushed to the photocopying machine to make more copies of another document.
He made eight, but when he got back to his seat, he remembered he was told to make ten…
“Fk” he muttered, rushing back to make more.
He took the ten into Jemima’s office immediately, dropping them on her desk in a file.
“Here” he said, and she looked up.
He started leaving as she checked them out.
“I asked for twenty” she suddenly said, and he turned back.
“You clearly said ten, my ears are still working” he said.
“So… now you won’t make it?” She said, and he sighed before coming back to take one copy.
He left the office, and she smiled knowingly.
“It’s just getting started, Maxwell”
Maxwell got back to his desk and met Lina waiting already.
“Manager Lina?”
“Your signature is needed here” she replied, giving him some documents.
“Oh” he replied, picking a pen to sign the secretary’s column.
“Here too” she gave him another one, and he signed.
“You’re sweating” Lina said.
“I’m fine” he replied and went back to the photocopying machine.
“Is boss knowingly doing this to him?” Lina muttered as she walked back to her office.
Maxwell made another ten photocopies, and a staff brought invoice papers again.
“This has to be submitted to the general manager for her signature before you get boss to sign it, then scan it and have is distributed to the directors” she said.
“General manager? You mean Miss Tatiana?” He replied, and the lady nodded with a smile.
“Sure, but be careful though, she’s worse” she whispered and winked before leaving.
“Gawd” Maxwell muttered and took the ten copies into Jemima’s office.
He dropped them on her desk, and she smiled before giving him two more files.
“The first one contains the list of things you need to change in this office before you leave today.
And the second one contains the names of directors you have to make sure attends the meeting by 5, dunno how you’re gonna do it” she said bossily.
Maxwell dropped the files immediately. “You’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you?” He said, looking pissed
“So? You’d fight me?” She smirked.
“Jemima!” He shouted furiously, and she spranged up.
“It’s miss Jemima! I’m four years older, kiddo” she said angrily.
Maxwell was about to reply again when the door opened to reveal Sloane.
She came in with Miguel and Francesca.
“Mum!” Francesca smiled cheerfully.
“What’s happening?” Jemima muttered.
“I went to pick Miguel in school actually, then Francesca insisted that I bring her here, she refused to follow her driver home, she said she misses you so I had no choice” Sloane replied.
“Take her back, this instant!” Jemima shouted, and Maxwell frowned.
What’s going on?
“Mum, can’t I stay with you for a while?” Francesca said gently.
“And I said no! Go back home!” Jemima snapped angrily.
“Jemima stop this already!” Sloane said.
“It’s not even one, you brought your Miguel too? Take them outta my sight!” Jemima shouted, and Francesca began crying.
“Go home!” Jemima shouted.
“She’s your daughter! Stop shouting at her!” Maxwell shouted as his anger got the best of him.
He couldn’t stand and watch the mistreatment anymore.
“And who said you could intervene!” Jemima shouted back, coming out of her desk.
She walked fast to him, and just like yesterday, she raised her hand to slap him, but he caught the hand again, holding it so tight as their eyes met again.
“You said it last night that you like people who don’t take trash.
I don’t take it, and you should know by now … that I’d never allow you to sI.ap me, ever!” He spat, holding her wrist tighter, so much that it hurts.
“Let me go! Maxwell” Jemima wriggled in pains.
“Please don’t hurt my mummy!!!” Francesca cried out.
