EGOCENTRIC HOUSEHELP SEASON 2: Chapter 11 to 20

? EGOCENTRIC HOUSEHELP

CHAPTER 14

“Mr. Landon, I am sorry but we can’t let you go so easily. You hit an old woman and didn’t even stop when we asked you to.” The cop said.

“Sir, my wife was dying. I wasn’t in my right state of mind. Moreover, I called the ambulance to help the woman to the hospital,” he said looking at the cop and he sighed.

“You need to call your lawyer. This wouldn’t be easy for you because you violated two rules.” He said walking out of the room.

“Sht,” Landon mumbled bending his head.

The door opened again and someone walked in, it was a female cop.

“Here is your phone Mr. Landon.” She said and Landon collected it from her.

“Can I make a phone call to the hospital first?” he asked and she shook her head.

“No. The only call you are permitted to make is that of your lawyer.” She said and Landon made a very humble and sad face.

“Put yourself in my wife’s shoes. I just want to know how she is doing, she went unconscious in the car. I had to rush her to the hospital and now I am in the police station. Can’t you just give me two minutes to talk to her father?” he asked and the female cop sighed feeling pity for him.

“Two minutes it is.” She said and Landon nodded in haste.

“Thank you so much.” He said switching on his phone and searching for Peter’s digits.

“You called her your wife, but she is still your girlfriend. You are even yet to propose to her.” The female cop said and Landon looked at her.

“I know I haven’t, and that is because things have not been so smooth for that. I call her my wife because I don’t see her as a girlfriend anymore but my life partner.” He said and Peter picked up the call.

“Landon are you out?” He asked from the other end of the phone.

“Not yet Peter. How is she?” He asked and he heard Peter sigh from the other end?

“I don’t know yet. The doctors are still in the ward with her, but I believe she would be fine. What is going on there?” He asked and tears rolled down Landon’s eyes.

“I may stay here longer than I thought. I violated two rules.” He said and he saw the cop signal him “time-over”

“I have to go Mr. Peter. Please make sure she is fine, and please tell her I am so sorry for all these messes I have caused her.” He said and hung up the call.

“I am so sorry for taking so much time.” He mumbled cleaning the tears that refused to stop rolling down his cheeks.

“It’s fine. Call your lawyer.” She said and he nodded dialing his number. He picked up when it was almost disconnecting.

“Hey Mr. Landon, sorry I picked up late. I was busy in the kitchen with Ruby, you know couples stuff.” He said giggling.

“I am in the police station right now. I think I may have gotten myself In trouble.” He said and he heard Daniel swallow hard.

“I would be there in the next five minutes. The one around your house right?” He asked.

“Yea. Please hurry and get me out of here. Kim is laying in the hospital, she needs me.” He said and Daniel hung up immediately.

He moved the phone away from his ear weakly and passed it to the female cop who was staring at him throughout the conversation.

“Thank you.” He said and she nodded standing up and walking to the door. Landon bowed his head in tears. He couldn’t stop replaying the scenes in his head.

“Don’t worry Mr. Landon. She would be fine.” She said turning to look at him as she opened the door. Landon raised his head to look at her.

“Thank you.” He said trying to smile.

She nodded and shut the door locking it from behind. Landon placed his head on the table and folding his hands.

“Be good for me baby.” He mumbled with his eyes shut.

Peter still bowed his head as she sat on the chair waiting for the doctors to come out of the operating room. His eyes were shut not until he heard the footsteps of someone approach him.

He opened his eyes and looked at the feet of the person. It was Rachael.

“Peter.” She called but he kept his head bowed still looking at her legs.

“I know you don’t want me here, but please can you act as nothing happened in the meantime? Cos of our daughter?” she asked and Peter scoffed raising his head.

“Oh really. Now she is your daughter?” He asked with his head still bowed.

The door to the operating room opened and Peter sprang to his feet headlong towards it. Rachael followed behind him but he ignored her.

The doctor walked out of the ward getting rid of the medical gloves he wore.

“How is my daughter doctor?” Rachael asked before Peter could say a word and he shut her a deadly look.

“I am sorry to say this but Miss Kimberly isn’t in a good health state. Please let’s talk in my office.” He said leading the way.

Peter could hear his heartbeat. He was so scared.

They got to the office and sat looking at the doctor. For the first time, Racheal felt scared for her daughter.

“Doctor, can you please tell us what exactly is wrong with her?” Peter asked and he nodded.

“Yeah sure. Before Miss Kim donated her kidney to Mr. Landon, I gave her a warning that her second kidney is not healthy to stand on its own. But she told me she already thought about it and wanted to save Landon.”

“Now, the only kidney that is sustaining her is so damaged and this means…” he said breathing out.

“She needs a transplant,” Peter said and the doctor nodded.

Tears rolled down his eyes. He had seen it coming, he knew this would happen. But he was ready for it.

“I would give her.” He said before thinking.

“What?” Rachael asked in shock.

“She is my daughter. I can’t let her die right in front of me.” He said and Racheal’s eyes widened.

“Have you forgotten that you sold one of your kidneys when you lost your job?” she asked in a loud tone.

“Shut up Rachael! I remember vividly, you don’t have to remind me. I am not enjoying my life either way, so I am giving to her. At least I would be free from you.”

“Take mine Doctor.” He said boldly and he didn’t seem to doubt his decision.
