HER HEARTLESS MONSTER : CHAPTER 11 – 20
ATTIC*
Slade set the yellow umbrella on fire immediately he arrived.
There’s an available space below the rails, so he set it down there and lightened it with matchsticks.
Yellow is not his thing.
In fact, he dislikes colours, he only got that colour so he’d stand out and make Twilight notice him fast in the crowd earlier.
He backed the wall as he watched the poor umbrella burn to ashes on the floor, and as smokes rose from the fire, he felt refined.
He felt refreshed, and he began inhaling the flames aggressively, the veins on his neck turning black as he did.
So far he’s wearing the ring, he can only recharge beside a burning fire, and since Twilight used some of his energy to split the woods, he might as well recharge.
He was still inhaling when his phone buzzed in his pocket, interrupting his recharge session.
His eyes opened slowly, and he rolled the ring in his finger before getting his phone out of his pocket.
It’s Timothy calling.
He watched with broody eyes as the phone rang till the end of the call, and as expected, the person called again.
This time, Slade picked up.
“You knowingly didn’t pick the first ring, wasn’t it?” An old voice came, and Slade rolled his eyes back, leaving the wall to walk to the base of the stairs.
“Why did you call, Timothy?” He asked.
“Shouldn’t you redevelop the habit of calling me father? It’s never right for a son to call his father by his name but you’re taking it too serious” Timothy replied, and Slade shut his eyes.
“You have just three minutes to tell me why you called, and I’m hanging up after that” he said.
“The girl… The one your mother told you about, did you meet her already? jasmine scent” Timothy said.
“That’s not why you called” Slade replied like a detective.
“Come back home, Slade. Please” Timothy finally fessed up.
“That’s what I thought” Slade hissed and made to hang up…
“Slade it’s unfair! You’re the son of the richest man in Glennville! You are my son! You are Slade Luther! I own twenty establishments in this town and in the city, and they all need an heir which is you! Why must you punish me by running away from home since you were 5!” Timothy started crying, and Slade smiled, enjoying the sound of his cries so damn much.
“I changed my mind,I’m not gonna hang up, but you have to promise me you’d continue crying..I fuçking love it” he whispered.
“You grew worse” Timothy muttered, his voice pained.
“Of course, growing worse is my trademark, and while reminding me of that, try to remind yourself of the words you said that night before I escaped from home… goodbye” Slade said and finally hung up.
He slowly brought the phone down from his ear, then he opened his eyes which already reddened with rage.
It’s not his fault that he feels this amount of rage whenever he speaks to Timothy, he started it.
And no matter how much he craves to see his mother, he has decided to never go back to his father’s island.
He pocketed the phone and turned back to the burning umbrella.
It’s completely burnt to the ground, and only the black remains are on the surface.
He pushed a growl out of his throat and cleared it before going upstairs.
His cat, Onyx was already waiting by the door for him.
He never carries the cat, so the cat followed him into the attic, and he shut the door.
