HER HEARTLESS MONSTER : CHAPTER 161 – 170
*~FOURTEEN YEARS AGO, MOONCLAN~*
One of the greatest sins humans commit daily is betrayal.
Anytime a human betrays another human, a slave spirit emerges from the sin, and the spirit roams the world freely.
Slowly, the spirits became too much on the surface of the earth, and that made powerful shamans come together to create a clan in the dark part of the moon.
They named it the moonclan, and each time human betrayal births a slave spirit, they send the spirit to the clan as a moonslave.
Just like Satan is the king of hell, the shamans gave the clan a king too.
He’s called The Emperor, the wickedest monster living.
The Emperor rules the clan with unbearable callousness and cruelty.
The moonslaves live under his tyranny with no food to ease their stinging hunger.
After a while, The Emperor decided to start selling the moonslaves out to heal cursed humans.
After all, they’ll still come back to the clan after they get killed.
Despite the huge profit he makes daily from selling moonslaves, their sufferings only increased.
The only river in the clan is the muddy moonfall river which the slaves depend on.
It only flows once a week, and anyone who doesn’t get the chance to drink before it dries up will have to wait another week.
As usual, the slaves are sitting around the river, waiting for it to flow again, including eight years old Twilight.
It’s been five weeks now since she had a drink, and it’s all because of her eyes.
If she could see, it’d be easier, but she’s blind, and that just worsens everything.
The betrayal she was birthed from must have been so unforgivable since she’s the only blind one in the clan.
Her body is shaking, lips split and pitifully dry, and her throat is gummy.
There’s no family here, no name too. You’re on your own, and you answer whatever The Emperor calls you.
“The water is flowing!!!” A scream came from the upper side, and everyone began rushing down the river.
Twilight stood too, using her walking stick to trace the road, but then the rushers pushed her down, and they began marching her as they ran towards the river.
“I’m here!! I’m here__stop!! I’m here!! Ahhh!!!”
Her screams were like a drop in the ocean cos the slaves are like battalions, and they can’t even hear her pleas.
It only took ten minutes before the slaves drank the water dry, and Twilight was crying as she struggled to stand.
Again, she didn’t drink.
Water even refused to come from her eyes as she cried, dragging her legs back to the shed she stays.
She fell twice since she lost her stick already, but she stood again each time.
“Thief! Thief!! Thief!!!” A scream came again, and she could hear the sound of running as The Emperor guards chased after a slave who had stolen bread from the kitchen.
Slaves sometimes sneak into The Emperor’s kitchen to steal food since that’s the only place food is available, but it’s a death game cos getting caught means eternal death.
Twilight quickly moved aside so the chasers won’t crash into her, but she was taken, shockingly.
“We got the thief!” The guards announced, and everyone began gathering.
“What do you mean? I’m not the thief! It’s not me! It’s not me!!!” She began struggling blindly.
She was pushed down, and whips were gotten.
