“Zero”. Jade replied boldly and the Emperor seeing the shocked look on Kai’s face almost broke into laughter, but Kai shouldered it all and smiled.
He and Kai literally takes turn in training her since she wasn’t the type to listen completely to one person’s instructions. Now it was Kai’s turn to go through the headache.
“Your grace. Why zero?”. Kai asked friendly trying so hard not to loose it, as he stood behind Jade who stood in front of the big tables filled with arrows then she faced Kai.
“Zero cause, firstly there’s no way I’m feeling compassion for any deer that derserves to be cooked”. Jade replied and the Emperor broke into laughter while Kai only stood staring at Jade with a fed up look on his face.
“And in the process of killing the deer, I’m sure I’ll miss the first shot and maybe the second so surely I’ll end up with zero arrows”. Jade replied and Kai nodded.
“But..I said Asa will give you two out of–
“That’s impossible! Asa’s highly competitive and would never give her only arrows to me during a competition. Plus, why do you keep using Asa as an example? Do you like her?”. Jade asked and Kai’s eyes widened.
“What–i’m literally helping you so you would stand a chance amongst elites shooters at tomorrow’s contest and you accuse me of liking your sister instead?”. Kai gasped trying to hide his embarrassed face.
“But—
“Shut it, what do you know about two people liking each other?”. The Emperor cut Jade off and she faced him.
“If-i don’t know then how come i kissed you at the field earlier?”. Jade blurted out shocking the Emperor.
“Huh?!!! You-two kissed again and he allowed it?!”. Kai asked Jade his eyes almost falling out from too much widening.
“Of course we did! And he loved it–
“Shut up!! Shut your mouth you you dullard! That’s the only thing you think of!”. Emperor Damien cut her off and Kai walked to the Emperor.
“You should have just stopped her before she kissed you. Unless you also wanted it…
“You feel entitled to question me? Just because i let you spelling for her slide you want to question me?!”. The Emperor replied with a sharp scoff and both Kai and Jade’s eyes widened.
“You both think you could fool me? This sharp mouthed witch next you doesn’t even know what two plus two is and you expect her to be able to spell ‘pronounce?’ how exactly? Is she the god of knowledge who grabs things quickly!?”.
Emperor Damien foubd himself saying, wondering how he began talking so much, he threw Jade who stood behind Kai a glare, but instead she smiled and ran to him, making him wonder why.
“You knew and still gave me my present. Just tell me you wanted to kiss me and I won’t tell anyone else”. Jade whispered into the Emperor’s ears on her tiptoe and he instantly walked away from there.
“Make sure she continues studying”. Emperor Damien said to Kai before leaving.
“You’re leaving already?! Dammy!!”. Jade called after the Emperor and Kai quickly ran to cover her mouth.
“What in the tenth province is Dammy? Don’t tell me that’s a nickname, gosh you’re unbelievable”. Kai said letting go of Jade’s mouth as he walked back to the table and she followed him.
“You know, sometimes you act like Ming but he’s more blunt, but supports even my most stupidest ideas”.
Jade suddenly said as she inspected the arrow edges with Kai who became speechless from what she said, but seeing her almost dipping the arrow into her wide opened mouth his eyes widened as he took the arrow from her.
“You just arrived from the kitchen and now attempting to eat an arrow?”. Kai questioned and Jade only kept quiet scratching her head, then she picked up a silver bow and arrow from the table and began walking out.
“Where are you heading to?!”. Kai yelled after her.
“I want to try shooting arrows more!”. Jade replied walking out the door and Kai blinked staring after her.

QUEEN MOTHER’S CHAMBERS
The Queen was about going to bed when she saw a shadow jump in through the window and she immediately got up to check who it was.
“You promised to make everyone hate him! Why the sudden love for him in the streets of every village i pass through to come here”. A tall figure asked and the Queen Mother sighed going to him tight.
“You should learn to greet me before stating your complaints. I colluded with foolish ministers that made everything obvious for the emperor to catch on.
Don’t worry, everything ends tomorrow, after tomorrow he’ll have a bride that follows our every command and then lead to his doom, you’ll take back what rightfully belongs to you”.
The Queen Mother said stroking the hair of the figure she hugged.
“I can’t wait mother. I just can’t wait”. The figure replied removing the long black hoodie that covered his face and his face became visible, as he possessed exactly the same facial features like the Emperor, just like his carbon copy.

PALACE FIELD
The Emperor and Kai stood watching Jade from a distance. With a blank look on the Emperor’s face, Kai was loudly cheering Jade anytime she hits a bulls eye.
Then Kai suddenly stopped facing the Emperor whose head was filled with thoughts.
“Your majesty. What if someone sees you, you’re not putting on your mask”. Kai said from beside the Emperor.
“It’s too late for anyone to”. The Emperor replied as he watched Jade keenly with a straight look on his face.
“What if she wins the game and ends up removing the sword?”. Emperor Damine’s voice came and Kai shook his head.
“It won’t happen. You had everything planned already, that’s why she’s the only one who doesn’t know tomorrow’s the finals”. Kai said and the Emperor sighed nodding.
“But she’s been improving alot lately what if she just shows us another one of her powers over there and destroys the whole plan?”. Emperor Damien asked again and Kai sighed.
“You’ve never been this worried before. If you never wanted her to pass in the first place you shouldn’t have agreed training her”. Kai said and the Emperor faced him.
“It’s one thing to sabotage her win, and it’s another to make her look stupid in front of everyone cause she lacks the powers to participate in the contest”. The Emperor said and then faced Jade who was currently jumping happily.
She had shot two arrows at once and both met the target, Kai’s eyes widened also, while Emperor’s gaze only darkened staring at her complete target.
“Anyone but you. Anyone can take the place of an empress, but not you and I’ll see to that”. Emperor Damien’s mumbked beneath his breath, meaning every word that came out of his mouth.
