EMPEROR’S CHAMBERS
“I don’t know if she’ll be waking up anytime soon your majesty. Her body consumed alot of poison and it took my whole yin spring water to flush it down her system. Let’s just hope for the best”. The royal physician said bowing to the Emperor who faced Kai.
“See him out”. He said to Kai who nodded and then led the physician outside.
The Emperor then walked to Jade’s unconscious body on his bed. She was now in a clean white robe, her skin completely pale as her long hair spread all over the pillow.
The Emperor sat beside her on the bed, tucking her hand into the duvet, and also using the duvet to cover her more, then his eyes began staring at her pretty face.
She was someone whose beauty was easy to captivate just anyone, but her dramas and troubles were what people knew her with most so no one actually had time to keep such beauty in mind.
“Here is best for you. You’re safer as a mistress than becoming an Empress Jade”. The Emperor said as his gaze rested soothingly on Jade’s face.
Slowly, he brought his hand to her closer to her face as he made tuck a ooose strand of her hair behind her soft ears but then Kai walked into the chamber and the Emperor withdrawed his hand and Kai seeing it cleared his throat lightly.
“Sorry for interrupting your majesty. Some servants mentioned the Queen Mother caused a commotion outside the palace. She mentioned your mother and the late Emperor also”. Kai relayed and the Emperor nodded getting up from the bed to walk to the window with his hands behind his back.
“It was expected, backing down was never in her life race and I’ll make her hit rock bottom with it”. Emperor Damien said staring up at the sky.
“Should i keep and eye on she and her son–
“No! Let them come she’ll come to me herself, she has a thing of betraying for her own benefit”. The Emperor said and Kai nodded, and then turned back to stare at Jade, before facing the Emperor.
“Using her to see if they really knew about how to suppress your powers was a little too…but-i thought you get hurt once she’s hurt too? Aren’t you supposed to be unconscious right now just like her?”. Kai asked in utter confusion.
“You think the kingdom will be safer that way? I’ve broken whatever bond kept us that interwined.
Our emotions aren’t connected anymore”. The Emperor replied walking away from the window, and Kai blinked in surprise.
“But-how?”. Kai asked and the Emperor pointed at a small pill on his table in his table.
“It seems Shenghai’s finally being serious for once, he sent me that, but I think he’s up to something”. Emperor Damien said to Kai who was lost staring at the pill in front on the Emperor’s table.
“The Wang’s family…
The Emperor started, facing Kai completely and Kai faced him in curiosity of what he had to say next.
“I need a full record on each and everyone of them, not to minus their servants. The monthly dark magic’s detector was ran and instead of it ringing in only one location, it was two and the second had to be the Wang’s Mansion.
The detector detected it early last year and ever since it couldn’t detect any dark magic in that household again, but now–its back and wouldn’t stop blinking above their roof”. Emperor Damien said and Kai blinked in shock.
“What if it was the dark magic they used and made their oldest able to remove the sword”. Kai asked but the Emperor keot quiet.
“And-what was the first location the detector do get? Is it someone we know?”. Kai asked slowly getting a feeling that he was pissing the Emperor off with his countless questions.
“Just look into what I told you to do and also, no celebration tonight so to it”. The Emperor said and Kai eyes widened and bowed before leaving the chamber.
“Why do I have the feeling the second person dealing with dark magic is the Queen Mother and no Empress celebration?”. Kai whispered to himself as he left the chambers.
The Emperor, stared at Jade’s unconscious figure on the bed for a second, before walking straight to where Jade laid, sitting beside her he made to a strand of her loose hair behind her ear.
The moment his fingers were almost touching her face, she slapped his hand away and he frowned in puzzlent, then Jade sat up on the bed glaring at him, her eyes red from anger and glassy at the same time. The Emperor stared at her in daze.
“You’re awake?
“What? You think you’re the only one capable of hiding things?”. Jade scoffed with so much hate in her tone.
“For how long have you been listening?”. The Emperor asked and Jade grinned.
“Let’s just say my body quickly responds to treatment, and I was awake right from when you walked in”. Jade replied and Emperor sighed, while she rolled eyes at him.
“You used me? Just to see know how much they have against you? Just so you could know if they really knew how to suppress your powers?! What if i wasn’t a pheonix also?
Who would have been your pawn? And to think you have the same face as my attacker only makes me hate you more you cruel Emperor!!”. Jade snapped loudly and Emperor Damien got up on his feets.
“Rest well”. The Emperor said before turning to the door, Jade made to get up but a sharp pain hit her chest and she sat back on the bed, she balled her fist hurtfully as she placed an hand on her chest.
“You’re not different from. Everyone who made life miserable for me, right from birth till now, you’re not different from them, you’re the cruelest of them all, a big pretender!!
You pretended to try to stop me from competing cause you knew it’ll only make me want to participate more, you didn’t even consider if I’ll ever survive it. I hate–
Jade wasn’t done when the Emperor fully walked out of the chamber and a tear escaped her eyes as she stared out of the door.
‘Ming was the only one who ever truly loved me’. Jade thought as more tears poured down her eyes, then she hugged her laps and began crying into it.
The Emperor walking down the hall outside stopped on his track when he heard her thoughts and he balled a fist very tightly, before continuing his walking.
