“Your Majesty!”. Kai called in fright but instead of hitting Asa, the Emperor struck the ground instead and it divided instantly.
“Leave my sight and this kingdom together with the rest of your family”. The Emperor said his voice laced with so much hate and anger and Kai quickly took the chain from him, incase he changed his mind.
Then the Emperor turned to walk back to his but Asa ran to kneel in front of him.
“Punish me instead. I’ll accept how many strikes you give me, but i don’t want to leave with my family, they’re all evil and I don’t want anything to do with them, just punish
“Don’t talk like you can take the strikes”. Kai cut her off.
“I don’t mind. I’m grateful to everyone who pleaded for me but–i don’t want to leave”. Asa mumbled sniffing as she awaited the Emperor’s reply and everyone curiously glanced at him also, while the Emperor only stood glaring down at Asa.
“Would you rather serve as a servant in the palace then?”. Emperor Damien asked everyone gasped loudly while Kai’s eyes widened.
“What?!”. Many exclaimed.
“What’s with the surprise look on everyone face? The Emperor’s actually being too lenient on her!”. Minister Zhou shook head in disappointment.
“Ye-es your majesty, I would rather work as a servant in the palace than leave the kingdom”. Asa replied her voice shaking as she spoke.
“It’s sorted then”. The Emperor said walking back to his throne and sitting dominantly on in.
“Thank you, your majesty!!”. Asa said bowing her head, before getting up from her knees and sadly joining the crowd who wouldn’t stop staring at her, Kai only sighed giving her a final glance before walking to stand behind the Emperor.

Minister Zhou wasn’t done speaking when The royal announcer climbed the podium with a different scroll and he together with everyone else blinked in shock wondering who was next.
“What’s that weasel doing up there? Hasn’t he called enough names from his scroll already?”. Minister Zhou rolled eyes.
“I have a bad feeling about this”. Minister Wei took in as he awaited for what the royal announcer had to say.
“Minister Zhuo, Ling, Wei, Zhang step forward please”. The royal announcer said and the mentioned Minister’s exchanged glances.
“Do you think we’ll be getting promoted?”. Minister Zhang asked in confusion as they were all hesitant to step forward.
“Promotion?! Finally!”. Minister Zhou smiled widely facing Han who shook head at him he winked before moving closer to the podium and the other minister’s whose names were mentioned stood beside him.
“As the highest ranked ministers in the whole tenth province, you all played a huge role in the distrust the people have against the officials of this kingdom.
You all took part in bribery and corruption, funding of immoral houses in the city, refusing education for your younger servants, stealing grants and sponsorship issued by the Emperor to the people and also encouraging exam malpractice by helping the scholars at the last civil service exam cheat.
As a result of that you all will be forced to step down fully from your titles, positions and whatever entitlement given to you by the palace, you’ll all have to return back whatever grants and sponsorhips you stole from the palace in fifty folds and also will pay the taxes of your whole district till the year runs out—-
“Father!!!!”. Han and Giselle shouted loudly as they ran towards Minister Zhuo who already fainted heavily to the floor, with his mouth wide opened as his eyes went shut, the shock was just too much.
“The rest of the ministers that had been suspended from their duties has only tommorrow to fully exit their office and positions as It’ll be occupied fully by more competent people deserving of it. Signed the Emperor”.
The royal announcer finished and the whole court was placed into a huge tantrum, as the Emperor stood up from his throne, everyone went on their knees bowing as he walked out of the court.

“If you’re interested in becoming an official, be it you’re a noble or an orphan, take the exam coming up next week and you’ll surely be appointed as an official if you’re interested, just be over 200 years of age”. The Emperor said sternly his gaze glaring at every of the other ministers before walking out of the court together with Kai, and the people cheered loudly happily.
“Long live the Emperor!!!!!”. Everyone cheered and chorused happily.

“Pay taxes for the whole of my district till the year ended?! But the year won’t be ending anytime soon?!!!”. Minister Ling shouted as his wife tried consoling him but he pushed her away.
