“You think your father’s status still matters in this city?! Breaking two crocks?! Do you know how expensive those are?!”. The head maid shouted at Asa whose head was lowered and all the servants present in the court, grinned in low voices.
“I’m very sorry”. Asa mumbled out and the head maid scoffed before pulling her ear tightly and Asa whimpered in pains.
“You think your sorry matters? Try to remember back then in your father’s mansion, do they take sorry as an apology?! No! Instead they make you oay for it and you will!! No food for you in this palace for a month!
And you won’t get paid for a month also, now leave my presence!!”. The head maid said pushing Asa away and she landed on her b*tt on the floor.
Her eyes became glassy but she swallowed it as she crawled on her knees to where the head maid stood.
“What if I get you another pot? Would you pay me?! I really need the money, i don’t even have enough clothes in my wardrobe, amongst all the maids my wardrobe is the blankest and almost empty”. Asa pleaded holding the Head maid’s knees but the headmaid kicked her away and other servants giggled silently.
“No food or payment for a month!”. The head maid finalized before walking out of the court and Asa’s tears finally fell.
“Poor you Asa. You’re surely going to starve to death”. One of the servants said and others laughed.
Asa stood up on her feet and left the hall, walking down the hallway to her room, she was about going into her room, when Kai arrived from the opposite direction, with two heavy bags in his hands.
Seeing Asa standing outside the door, his eyes widened and he immediately turned to walk away, but he didn’t really leave he only stood at the corner waiting for her to leave but Asa could still see his shadow reflecting on the floor and she wiped off her tears completely.
“I can still see you”. She said trying so hard not to make her voice crack and Kai slowly came out from the corner.
“The Emperor–I mean Jade, your sister told me to give you these”. Kai said walking to her as he avoided her gaze then he handed the two bags to her and turned his back on her.
“Tissues are in there also, with…socks incase you’re cold….and a few…soft sheets and blankets with–
“If Jade bought them, then how come you know so much”. Asa asked staring at his back and Kai only cleared his throat.
“I went to the market for her–
“You’re a grand guard and not a normal slave, not even the Emperor can send to go get flimsy stuffs like these from the market”. Asa sighed and Kai became short of words.
“I…I’ll relay your message of thanks to them”. Kai said bowing slowly even though he was backing her and was already walking away when..
“Thanks”. Asa suddenly said and went into her room with two bags.
Kai stopped on his track and turned to face her room door, he took in a deep breath breath and began leaving but he soon changed his direction to the servants court.
“He said a few…but isn’t this too much for a mere servant like me?”. Asa asked checking out the stuffs Kai brought for her.
The first bags were filled with tissues, socks, sheets and duvets of pretty colours, mostly purple her favorite colour and Asa blinked staring at it, not knowing how to react.
Then right underneath the same bag, varietes of perfumes, hair wash, body wash concoctions and scented candles were starked there and Asa’s eyes widened staring at them, before frowning.
“Is he trying to say i smell?”. Asa scoffed smelling the outfit she was putting on.
Then she checked the second bag and her eyes widened instantly, it was filled with lots of pretty robes and garments, she even recognized one of the undergarment as the same model as the ones she had back at home and smiled trying it on, then she got up to try it on immediately.
“He has great eyes! This suits me perfectly!”. Asa smiled happily then she wore the socks and continued ransacking the bag.
She smiled when she saw a small basket of fruits was hidden underneath and she opened it and began eating from it.
“Can’t believe he was too shy to give me this. Was it because i told him to avoid me? He’s so clueless”. Asa scoffed.
Slowly she smiled as she continued eating only to notice a tiny twinkle from inside the bag and she checked it, but her eyes widened instantly.
“This is my jewelries box!! How did he get this?!”. Asa asked hugging the box tight as she sat on her bed, then she opened the box to check if everything was still intact and they were, except that she saw a beautiful necklace she didnt recognize.
“When did I purchase this?”. Asa asked as she stared at the necklace, caressing it with her thumb.
