WHAT IS CONTENT MARKETING?
Content marketing is simply using content, whether text, video, or other medium, to communicate your value to online users.
This can be done in a number of ways from starting a blog, to posting helpful content on social media
With content marketing, your aim is to show that you can add value to anyone who you come across.
HOW TO EFFECTIVELY BE A CONTENT MARKETER
IDENTIFY YOUR AUDIENCE!!
As an online entrepreneur you should know who you are selling to, and this is especially important in content marketing.
Take some time and develop a rapport between you and your audience, or the typical person who would come to you for answers.
What are their profession? How old are they? What are their pain points?
Developing rapport helps to guide your content in an actionable direction.
CAN YOUR CONTENT SOLVE A PROBLEM FOR YOUR AUDIENCE?
Before even writing a piece of content, you should know what your audience pain points is, that’s where the valuable stories are.
This shows you have your audience at heart and you are willing to help however you can, this way you develop a“sweet spot”and you can use it to solve problems for your audience.
This is the realm of expertise that you’re the most knowledgeable, authoritative, and passionate about.
HOW ATTRACTIVE IS YOUR CONTENT?
Being boring is death in content marketing. If you lack of usefulness it is also death.
You should know how to strike a balance between being relevant and being at least entertaining. Your audience should want to hear from you and look forward to when you post.
Your ideal content should:
Use an attractive headline that draws an audience in
Contain useful, actionable advice
Be scannable to readers thanks to headlines, bullet points, lists, and graphics that hold attention
Use an engaging, conversational tone
EVENTUALLY MAKE AN IRRESISTIBLE OFFER!
Though the aim is to be helpful with your content, the ultimate goal should be to get your prospects through the sales funnel.
After you have proven your expertise and helpfulness, people are more likely to take advantage of your products and services. So be ready to make an offer.
ARE YOU USING SOCIAL MEDIA TO PROMOTE?
Treat social media as a stage you need to keep showing up everytime on social media, like I said it is a stage, you keep getting better at it. You don’t go on stage before you have developed and practiced your act.
Your content should also be shareable across relevant social media platforms. If your content is picture intensive, utilize Facebook and Instagram. Post videos to sites like Youtube and Twitter.
STAY IN TOUCH WITH PEOPLE WHO LIKE YOUR STUFF!
You should start building an email list or WhatsApp list as soon as you start content marketing.
There’s no better way to stay in touch with your fans than through their email inboxes or personal lines.
Regularly contacting your list subscribers keeps your brand in front of people who find your content valuable enough to subscribe to.
7 THINGS YOU SHOULD ADD TO YOUR CONTENT TO GET MORE SALES
There are core ingredients that make your copies compelling for your audience, whether you are posting on social media, your landing page, or website.
Most people have recorded massive success with sales by using the following:
1. Your Hook: This is the big promise your product/service offers to the customer. Make sure it solves their real problems. For example, “I will find you a good Lagos apartment in 3 weeks. If I don’t, I owe you N100k!” The job of the hook is to gain attention. So think about your product/service, the biggest promise it offers, and see how to make it come alive. That’s your hook right there.
2. Your Lead: Now that you have your audience’s attention, you need to stoke the fire further by playing on their desires. How badly do they need to solve their problems? How well can you solve it? How many people have you solved it for? Can you show proof? These are the leads you need to make them believe and trust you with their monies without thinking twice.
3. Your Defence: Because some people will be stubborn and will have certain objections like, “What if I don’t like the apartment you find?”, “What if it’s above my budget?” and so on; you need to be prepared to handle their objections with a solution that offers them security. That way, you are almost leaving them no choice.
4. Your Offer: Now, this is where you deliver the killer punch. What is your main offer? How much would they normally have to pay for your service/product? How much are you willing to specially give it to them? Do you want to introduce a time limit to that special offer? Is there a special code they need to use? Your offer is what will seal the deal in your favour because that’s what makes you different from others.
5. Your Sweetener: The jollof is ready, but you need cold zobo, coke, or juice (whatever you drink) to go with it. So, is there a small gift you want to tie to every purchase? Buy this and get that for free? Buy 3 and get this special service for free? Or, using the current example, you can say, “Subscribe to my agency service and get this interior design ebook for free to help you when you move into the beautiful apartment I will get you.” Now, that is extra motivation to buy!
6. Your Guarantee: We are back where we started. Remember your hook? Time to reiterate it! If you are absolutely certain about what you are offering, then you must be able to offer guarantees. It provides the needed mental security for your customers who will drop their hard earned monies and ensures that all their monies come into your pocket. Make sure you are not over-promising, sha. In fact, if the ideal guarantee you can offer is 6 months, tell them 12 months. If what you can afford to refund is 200k, tell them 100k. You get the logic. The idea is to generally make them feel safe to trust you.
7. Your Call To Action: This is the biggest rule. Don’t assume people already know what to do. Tell them what to do. “Buy Now”, “Order Now”, “Subscribe Now”, “Sign Up Here”, “Call This Number”, etc. This must be littered across each phase of your copy. The more you repeat it, the more they remember.
In summary, these 7 core ingredients, used in any format you like, WILL massively change your selling experience anywhere!
