Written by Rhema J.
GENRE/TAGS: Contemporary Romance, Bad boy, Good girl, childhood crush, age gap, secrets, family affairs, suspense etc
The difference between Derek and I is like trying to count a tall building with over hundred floors. While he’s the type that gets tattoos, party, sleep around and smoke chunks with his friends, I’m the kind of girl that secure good grades at school just to make mummy proud.
I’m not his type, he calls me a minor and ruffles my hair like a kid but I don’t want to be that to him. I want to be everything he wants me to be, I want to be everything he likes in a woman even if it means skipping classes, partying and making mummy sad.
I knew coming back to Austin TX after so many years and getting to see those magnetic grey orbs that kept pulling me closer, those devilishly lips, the smirk that whispers; ‘Do what would make your mom disappointed’ would be a bad idea.
I shouldn’t do this, I shouldn’t look up to Derek. He’s a bad influence, I know but I can’t help it.

Guys welcome to my second time of writing a story with the first person POV. I use to hate this style but I’ve read a lot of books with it recently and it’s really cool, it knows how to capture a characters emotions and make the readers feel every inch of it and that’s what I’m going to do.
You guys would love this one trust me💝

“Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We are now taxiing to the runway. Please ensure your seatbelts are securely fastened, your tray tables and seatbacks are in the upright position, and all electronic devices are turned off. Thank you for your attention”
The pilot’s voice echoed through the plane and some passengers were making sure all that needed to be done was done.
“Hunny, I hope your seatbelt is fastened?” Mom turned over to me and asked.
“Yes Mom”
“And your phone, I hope you turned it off?” She asked again and I rolled my eyes.
“Yes Mom”
I know why she is being extra careful, she got me this phone last year when I clocked fifteen as my sweet fifteen birthday. Normal kids wait till they are sixteen before celebrating a sweet sixteen but I guess my mom couldn’t just wait for me to grow up and ever since she got me this phone, it’s been my new best friend, I take it everywhere and use it everywhere and it’s the first time I’ll be taking this phone with me on a plane. This is the first time I’m entering a plane in four years.
I’m sixteen years old now- okay you got me, I’m fifteen and I’ll be turning sixteen this month and I’m currently on my way to Austin Texas with my mom. She’s going to see her best friend, they bonded over both losing their husbands on the same they, and her best friend has a daughter who is also my best friend, Taylor is her name and I’m so excited to see her again after four years but deep down, I know it’s not just Taylor I want to meet.
I wanted to see Derek again, he’s Taylor’s senior brother who should be twenty by now. I know he’s so much older than me but I can’t help it, ever since I set my eyes on him four years ago, I couldn’t get him off my mind. We used to go over to his mom’s place when I was still a kid, I don’t know why I don’t pay attention maybe because he wasn’t always around but the last time I went there was when I was twelve.
He was sitting on the couch, dressed decently with his clothes neatly straightened and his hair properly gelled, he uses glasses, drinks coffee, reads books, and listens to urban music. He’s part of the reason why I want to be smart, I know I get happy my mom loves it when I get good grades but I think Derek and I would bond more if I like to do the things he does, I don’t know.
“Hunny, are you hungry?” Mom’s voice drifted me from my thoughts. I can’t believe I’ve spent almost an hour thinking about Derek on the plane, well I’ve done much worse, I can spend the whole day thinking about him and never get tired, it’s all I’ve done for four years now.
“Not really” I answered.
“Would you have any snacks then, it’s going to take about four hours to reach Austin and you didn’t have breakfast” Mom told me, more like warned me.
“Fine, I’ll have chocolate” I sighed and my mom mumbled some things under her breath before asking the female flight attendant to get me some chocolates. The truth is I don’t want to eat on purpose, I want to look fitted so Derek would think I’m sexy, hopefully.
The female attendant came to me with some chocolate cubes. “Enjoy” she flashed a sweet smile at me. Oh just look at her, older, prettier, curvy and she looks about Derek’s age. Why am I not her? Why am I not older?
I put the chocolate in my mouth, feeling the sweetness of it. It was getting boring, my mom was already asleep but I wasn’t, I couldn’t wait for us to arrive at Austin and see Aunt Maggie, Taylor, and most importantly Derek.
“We’re in our final approach to the airport, so please remain seated and keep your seat belts fastened” My eyes drifted open when I heard the pilot’s voice telling us that we were about to land.
My heart was racing, it was about time.
The plane landed, the staircase rolled down for the passengers to come down and we did. My mom had her phone in her ears, I was sure she was calling Aunt Maggie to come pick us up at the airport and I wasn’t wrong because seconds later a black car stopped in front of us, the back seat opened and someone familiar stepped down.
Taylor.
“Dovey” Taylor came rushing towards me, I dropped my luggage on the floor and ran to her. We both threw ourselves on each other’s. God I’ve missed her so much.
“Look at you” Taylor pulled me away from the hug and spun me around. “Looking so hot, so sexy, when did you get these a*s and b*obs”
“Taylor!” I pushed her away and widened my eyes, looking in the direction of my mom.
“Oops,” Taylor laughed nervously before going to meet my mom who just finished hugging Aunty Maggie. “Aunt Lauren, good to see you again, I’ve missed your cooking” Taylor greeted my mom.
“So mine is bad?” Maggie was already frowning.
“Don’t worry aunt, I miss your cooking” I said, then whispered. “More than mom’s”
Mom only rolled her eyes at me. I looked around but Derek wasn’t there, he didn’t follow them to the airport maybe he was at home. My heart races with the thought of seeing him again, I wonder how he looks now, did he grows taller, more handsome, or hotter. I bit my lips at the thoughts, calm down Dove, calm down.
ILLEGALLY YOURS : CHAPTER 1 – 10
We got to Aunt Maggie’s house, it felt like childhood. Nothing changed from four years ago.
“Come with me Dove, I already found space in my room for you” Taylor grabbed my hands, leading me upstairs while my mom and Aunt Maggie got to stay and talk about other kinds of stuff.
Taylor’s room has changed, it wasn’t how it was before. When she was a kid, she loved tons of girly cartoons and she decorated her room with posters of everything, even her bedspread was from her favorite cartoon, Totally Spiced but now it’s different. She had pictures of her male crush and female crush. I can see Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez’s pictures everywhere and I’m also seeing some shirtless hot guys.
“You like?” Taylor had a smirk on her face.
“I love it” I walk around the room, and I see a frame of her and a guy posing intimately. “Who’s this?”
“My boyfriend” she shrugged.
“You have a boyfriend and you never told me, I thought we promised to tell each other everything” I pouted.
“Fine sit” Taylor pulls me to sit on the bed. “I’ll tell you everything but you’ll also tell me your stuff too,” she said and I chuckled.
“So, I’ve had about three boyfriends or more I don’t know and I’m not a virgin anymore” Taylor started and a loud gasp escaped my mouth.
“How did it happen?” I ask. “I heard it’s always painful at the first trial, is it true?” I look so curious. I can’t believe Taylor isn’t a Virgin anymore.
“It sure was, I lost it when I just clocked sixteen so practically on the night of my sweet sixteen, I was dating an older guy then, he was twenty-four or so and was big” My cheek turned red with what I an listening to but it is because I’m thinking of Derek. I thought if someone found out I had a crush on Derek they would judge me cause he is 20 and I’ll be turning sixteen this month but Taylor practically gave off to a twenty-four-year-old dude.
“But he ghosted me after that night, seems like that was what he always wanted. He likes ’em young” She shrugged her shoulders.
“That sucks” I muttered.
“Hmm so I dated about two more but not older, my current boyfriend is 18 years old, and we are soulmates, I hope so” She finished off and gave me a look. I bet she wanted to know about me and I sighed.
“I’m boring trust me, I haven’t been with anyone,” I said.
“Really? You don’t even like anyone even a simple crush? Are there no hot guys in your street?” She narrowed her eyes at me.
There are hot guys, the ones that came make girls drip but is it okay to say I can’t just see anyone except Derek? I definitely can’t tell Taylor that, she’s my best friend and Derek is her senior brother, she definitely wouldn’t like that.
Speaking of Derek, where is he?
“No” I lied.
“I don’t believe you” She smirked and moved closer to me. “I know how to force things out of you” She raised her hands and moved her fingers with a sly smirk, i know what’s coming.
Taylor pounced on me and began tickling me while I laughed like shìt.
“Dove what did we talk about dropping your luggage where you’re not supposed to!” I heard my mom shouting from the living room and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at the same time thank my mom.
Taylor released me and I went downstairs, my luggage was by the door and I went to take it. I was about to pull it when the door opened, and a thick pair of dark boots stepped in. I felt strange and I don’t know why, I slowly raised my head to meet who just entered.
It was a guy, a really familiar guy, the guy I’ve been wanting to see all day even at the plane, the only guy I’ve ever loved since I was twelve. Derek was in front of me, looking different, hot, handsome, taller, muscular but different.
There are tattoos covered in one of his strong looking arms, I can see them through the grey T-shirt he was putting on. His hair ruffle and his face looking well sculpted with good jawlines. My heart raced at the sight of him again. He looked calmer four years ago, like an Angel but why is my Angel suddenly looking like a devil?
