INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 101 – 110
Luke arrived home to find Cecelia sitting on the couch, and a pang of guilt washed over him.
He wished he hadn’t gone to see Natalie. Maybe then she wouldn’t have kissed him, and his lips wouldn’t have touched another woman’s.
Even though he hadn’t initiated or reciprocated the kiss, he still felt like he had cheated.
“Love,” he called, his voice laced with guilt.
Cecelia, who hadn’t stopped thinking about Kristin’s words, rushed to him when she saw him standing by the door.
“Love, I—”
“It’s not true. She’s lying!” Cecelia cut him off, taking him by surprise.
“Who’s lying, and what’s not true?” Luke asked, confused.
“Didn’t Kristin tell you anything?” Cecelia asked, rolling her eyes. She wondered if Kristin hadn’t told him about her meeting with Lewis, like she’d guessed. She knew Luke was close to Kristin, which is why she had assumed Kristin must have told him.
“Tell me what?” Luke asked.
Realizing that Kristin hadn’t said a word, Cecelia smiled and placed her manicured hands on his chest, drawing invisible circles on it.
“I thought she told you about our hangout.”
“You hung out with Kristin?” Luke asked, surprised.
“Yes, we became friends when I went to Richard’s hotel to see you after our misunderstanding. She’s fun to be with,” Cecelia beamed.
Luke’s mind drifted back to Natalie’s kiss, and guilt gnawed at him.
“What’s wrong? You seem off.”
“I’m sorry,” he apologized.
“Sorry for what?” Cecelia asked.
“I didn’t mean for it to happen. If I’d known she was going to kiss me, I wouldn’t have met up with her,” Luke admitted.
He was a man who didn’t keep things from his wife. Cecelia hadn’t seen the post made about Kristin at Ophelia’s party, so she didn’t know Luke had once lied to her. But that was the first and last time.
“You kissed someone?” Cecelia asked, her voice angry, despite the fact that she was doing far worse.
“I didn’t know she was going to kiss me.”
“Then why did you meet up with her in the first place? You know how easily women fall for you because of your calm demeanor, yet you still went to meet her? Really, Luke?” Cecelia raged.
“I’m sorry. I told you because I felt bad about it, but it won’t happen again,” Luke said, trying to hold her, but Cecelia pushed his hand away.
“I need to be alone,” Cecelia said as she entered their room, slamming the door in his face.
Though she was cheating, she couldn’t stand the thought of Luke being with another woman.
“Who the heck was that woman?” she snapped, recalling her encounter with Kristin.
“Luke can’t know about my affair with Lewis. He’ll kill me if he finds out. I need to stop Kristin before she tells him,” Cecelia nodded to herself.
She picked up her phone from the table and quickly dialed Lewis’s number. He picked up after a few rings.
“Send the money. I’m ready to work with you,” Cecelia said.
“What made you change your mind?” Lewis asked over the phone.
“Kristin is a threat to my marriage. I can’t afford to lose Luke, even if I’m cheating on him.”
“So, you admit you’re cheating?”
“Just shut up and let’s get this over with,” she whispered, not wanting Luke to hear from outside.
“Sure. I’ll send the money.”
“I’ll be waiting,” Cecelia said before ending the call.
After receiving a handsome amount of money from Lewis, Cecelia stepped out of the room and found Luke sitting on the floor next to the door.
“Love,” she called.
