INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 121 – 130

It’s not our fault she doesn’t know how to swim. She’s just stupid, and that’s why she had a child out of wedlock,” Ophelia said.

“What did you just say?” Richard asked angrily, ready to attack Ophelia, but Kristin held his arm, stopping him.

“Let’s just go home, Mr. Grouchy. Maybe we shouldn’t have come here. I need to rest,” Kristin said, shivering as the water from her hair dripped down her face.

She had been terrified when she fell into the water, and Richard could clearly see it in her eyes. He wouldn’t dare risk his wife’s health just to deal with Ophelia.

“Fine. I’ll take you home, Forevermore.” He lifted her in a bridal carry, and as Kristin clung to his neck, Adriana felt a sting in her heart.

She wasn’t happy about it and silently fumed, wishing Kristin had drowned before Richard saved her.

Julio saw Richard leaving and quickly approached him.

“You’re leaving? What happened? Why are your clothes wet?” Julio asked, noticing Kristin’s head resting on Richard’s shoulder as she almost drifted to sleep.

“Ask your wife and daughter,” Richard replied before leaving.

When they arrived home, Kristin had already fallen asleep. Richard carried her inside, and when he entered, Dante was talking to Kathryn.

“Daddy Richard!” She rushed to hug him but noticed both he and Kristin were wet.

“Why are you and Mommy wet? What happened at the party?” Kathryn asked.

“What happened to my daughter?” Dante asked, his eyes fixed on Kristin, who was still asleep in Richard’s arms.

“I’ll explain later. My wife needs a change of clothes,” Richard said and headed upstairs while Dante watched him ascend.

“Are Daddy Richard and Mommy okay?” Kathryn asked, her face filled with worry.

“They’re fine, don’t worry,” Dante smiled, and Kathryn nodded, her two ponytails bouncing as she did.

After changing both his and Kristin’s clothes, Richard sat beside her, gently caressing her face as she slept.

He wanted to go back and teach Adriana a lesson for watching Kristin struggle in the water, but two things stopped him: his promise to Kristin to control his anger and the fact that Adriana was Julio’s long-lost daughter, the man who had picked him up from the streets.

Dante knocked on the door, and after Richard told him to come in, he entered.

“I was about to go home, but I was worried about Kristin. What happened at the party? Why did she come home wet?” Dante asked.

“It’s my fault. I failed to protect her. She was accidentally pushed into the pool by my adoptive father’s daughter.”

“Kristin fell into the pool?” Dante exclaimed, and Richard nodded.

“Of all things, don’t let my daughter fall into a pool.”

“Why?”

“She has a bad history with pools. In middle school, she was thrown into one by bullies and almost lost her life. Ever since, she stands near pools but never goes in.

Kristin is my only daughter, and it was hard for us before the heavens finally gave her to us, so please make sure nothing harms her.

Our lives were peaceful in Glenwood, and I won’t hesitate to take her back if she keeps facing danger.”

“I promise nothing bad will happen to your daughter. I love her, and I’d rather get hurt than let her be harmed.”

Dante smiled. “Thank you.”

“No, thank you, for giving me your daughter. I’ll protect her, no matter what,” Richard assured him.
