INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 121 – 130
As they were lost in the moment, Kathryn peeked between her fingers, grinning. “You two are so romantic!” she squealed, making them break apart, suddenly remembering they had a six-year-old watching.
“I thought you said you had your eyes closed?” Kristin asked, amused.
“I just took a little peek.”
“What should we do with Baby Kathy, Forevermore?” Richard asked, playing along.
“Feed her to the monsters!” Kristin joked.
“No!” Kathryn screamed, laughing as she ran off, with Richard and Kristin chasing after her.
The living room was wide enough for them to playfully run around, their laughter filling the space, making them look like the picture-perfect family.
After their fun, the three of them sat down to eat.
“Hmm, Daddy Richard’s cooking is delicious!” Kathryn exclaimed.
“Whose cooking is better—Mommy’s or Daddy Richard’s?” Richard teased.
“Daddy Richard’s!”
“High five, Baby Kathy!” Richard said, and they shared a proud high-five.
“I’m going to have my own partner someday, and he’s going to love my cooking!” Kristin shot back, pouting.
“You’ll need me before that happens,” Richard winked at her. Kristin gave him a cute frown, and he smiled.
Later, after dinner, Kristin helped Kathryn shower and tucked her into bed.
“Mommy?” Kathryn whispered as she snuggled into the blankets.
“Yes, Kathryn?” Kristin replied, gently patting her back.
“I want to stay with Daddy Richard forever.”
“You will, sweetheart.”
“But what if my real daddy comes and takes me away?”
Kristin’s heart clenched. Kathryn was so much wiser than her age.
“That’s not going to happen, love,” Kristin reassured her. “Daddy Richard won’t let anyone take you away from us.”
“Really, Mommy?” Kathryn smiled sleepily.
“Yes,” Kristin said, kissing her forehead. “Now go to sleep. You have school tomorrow.”
“Will you stay with me until I fall asleep?”
“Of course,” Kristin whispered, lying beside her until Kathryn drifted off, and she went to her room.
“Is Baby Kathy asleep already?” Richard asked, stepping out of the bathroom with a towel draped around his neck.
Kristin nodded.
“Are you okay?” he asked, noticing the troubled look in her eyes.
Kristin wanted to tell him about her conversation with Kathryn, but she hesitated. Before she could speak, Richard interrupted.
“I have something to tell you.”
“What is it?”
Richard hesitated for a moment, then finally told Kristin what Adriana had done. As he expected, Kristin was furious.
“Is she out of her mind? Why would she do something like that? Did she escaped from a psychiatric hospital?” Kristin raged.
“Please calm down, Forevermore,” Richard urged.
“I’m trying, but I can’t! I’m so mad right now!” she snapped, and Richard pulled her into a hug.
“That’s enough, love. Even if ten thousand women stripped naked in front of me, you’re the only one I have eyes for. Just you, Forevermore. Please don’t be upset.”
Kristin took a deep breath, trying her best to calm down.
