INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 131 – 140

“What did Uncle Dante say? Is he on his way yet?” Romina asked as she helped Gladys set the table for dinner. She lived with them because she had no plans to return to Glenwood; her mom didn’t approve of her.

“Yes, but he went back to his wine shop because he forgot the fabric I asked him to get.”

“Alright, Aunt. His birthday is in three days. Do you have any plans?” Romina asked with a smile. Gladys was about to reply, but the doorbell rang, interrupting her.

“I’ll get the door. I think Uncle Dante is back,” Romina said, heading toward the door. But when she opened it, it was Kristin, Richard, and Kathryn.

“Kristin. Richard. Kat,” Romina smiled.

They entered the house.

“Grandma!” Kathryn ran into her arms, and Gladys scooped her up, carrying her.

“Good evening, Mom,” Richard and Kristin greeted in unison.

“Evening. What brings you all here so late?” Gladys asked.

“We were out and decided to drop by. Where’s Dad?” Kristin asked, looking around.

“He’s still at the wine shop.”

“This late?” Richard asked.

“I spoke to him a few minutes ago. He’ll be home soon. Dinner is ready, so let’s all eat together,” Gladys smiled.

“I’m just going to call him,” Kristin said as she took out her phone, but it wasn’t going through.

“I can’t reach Dad, Mom,” Kristin said, worry evident on her face.

“He’ll be home soon. I just spoke to him. Let’s eat.”

Kristin nodded slightly, and they all sat down to eat. After dinner, Dante still hadn’t returned home.

“I have a bad feeling about this, Mom. Dad isn’t the type to stay out this late,” Kristin said, becoming more worried.

“I’m starting to worry too. Try calling him again,” Gladys said.

Kristin called her dad again, her hands shaking, but like before, the call didn’t go through.

“This won’t do. Let’s go to his wine shop and see if he’s still there,” Richard said, and Kristin nodded, trying to brush away the bad feeling.

“I’ll go with you,” Romina chimed in, and the three of them left the house.

“Grandma, is everything okay with Grandpa?” Kathryn asked. Gladys smiled.

“Everything’s fine, sweetheart. Your mommy and Daddy Richard are just going to check if he’s at the shop, okay?”

Kathryn nodded, her ponytails bouncing as she did.

“I have some ice cream in the fridge. Would you like some?”

“Yes! I want it!” Kathryn squealed in excitement, and Gladys patted her head.

“I’ll be right back,” Gladys said, heading to the kitchen while Kathryn sat down, hugging her teddy bear.

Before Richard could drive to Dante’s wine shop, they saw a crowd gathered, whispering to one another.

They quickly got out of the car and saw the shop in flames.

“I’m sure someone’s inside. I heard a scream when the shop exploded,” one of the bystanders said. Hearing that, Kristin attempted to run toward the burning shop.

“Dad!” she cried, trying to rush inside, but Richard held her back.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

“My dad might be in there! I have to save him!” Kristin sobbed.

“It’s dangerous!”

“I don’t care, Heartbeat! I need to save my dad!” Kristin cried, struggling against Richard’s grip.
