INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 131 – 140

“Let go of me! I need to save him!” Kristin fought to free herself, but Richard tightened his hold, knowing she would endanger herself if she got too close.

“I’ve already called the firefighters. They’re on their way. We should wait until they confirm if someone is inside,” a man from the crowd said.

“He’s right, Kristin. Going in will only make things worse,” Romina added, and Kristin collapsed into tears while Richard did his best to console her.

Though his face remained stoic, Richard prayed silently that Dante wasn’t inside, knowing how devastated Kristin would be.

The firefighters arrived swiftly and extinguished the fire. When they entered the shop, they brought out Dante’s body.

Half of his body had been consumed by the flames. He was gone.

Tears streamed down Kristin’s face as she saw her father’s lifeless body. She shook her head and ran toward him before Richard could stop her.

Kristin’s world shattered as she looked at her father on the stretcher. She tried to speak, but no words came out, only tears. Overcome by the pain, she screamed and fainted.

“Forevermore!” Richard rushed to her side.

Moments later, Kristin opened her eyes to find herself in the hospital.

“Forevermore,” Richard called softly. Kristin looked at him, and memories of her father being brought out of the burning shop flooded back.

She ripped the IV out of her arm and got out of bed.

“Where’s my dad?”

“Kristin, you need to rest. You fainted earlier,” Richard said, gently holding her, but Kristin pushed him away, her tears flowing.

“Don’t tell me to rest, Heartbeat! I saw my dad’s dead body, and you want me to rest? Where’s my dad!” Kristin cried.

Richard’s heart broke seeing her pain.

“Where’s my dad? Please, tell me where he is,” Kristin sobbed, and with no other option, Richard led her to the ward where Dante’s body was.

Gladys was already there, crying her heart out. She never imagined she would lose her husband like this.

Kristin entered the room like a ghost, her tears falling freely as memories of her father flooded her mind—his laughter, his love, their moments together.

“Dad, please get up. Let’s go home,” she whispered, her voice breaking.

“Dad, you promised you’d never leave me. Please wake up. Dad!” Kristin sobbed uncontrollably.

“Kristin,” Gladys cried, trying to console her daughter. She knew how deeply Kristin loved her father. Her own heart shattered at the loss of the man who had told her he loved her just before he died.

“Dad can’t die. He can’t leave us. Mom, please, tell him to wake up! I won’t let him die,” Kristin cried, and Gladys held her tightly, even as her own tears flowed.

Unable to watch his wife cry any longer, Richard stepped out of the ward. He felt every bit of Kristin’s pain and wished he could bear it all for her.

Richard watched Kristin as she slept, tear streaks still visible on her face. Romina had taken Gladys home, but he remained at the hospital with Kristin.

Kristin had cried herself to sleep, and since Richard was the only one emotionally stable enough, he had taken on the responsibility of arranging Dante’s funeral.

“How is she, Richard?” Luke asked as he entered, having heard what happened and coming to visit.

Richard sighed and gently caressed Kristin’s hair. “She cried so much, Luke. This is the first time I’ve seen my wife cry like this, and it’s affecting me deeply,” he said with sad eyes.

“It’s normal for her to cry, Richard. When we lose loved ones, tears are inevitable. I know how Kristin feels; I felt the same way when my parents died.”

“What can I do to make her stop crying? If she wakes up again, she’ll cry, and I don’t want her to. It hurts so much that I can’t do anything to stop her,” Richard said, his eyes fixed on Kristin, who was still sleeping.
