INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 141 – 150

By Succie Brown.

“My wife is pregnant?” Richard asked, a smile forming on his face as he heard the news. The thought of becoming a father filled him with a happiness he hadn’t expected.

Before meeting Kristin, he had always loathed children, as they reminded him of the hardships he had endured, not only from his mother but also from life on the streets.

“Yes, she is pregnant,” the doctor confirmed, then continued, “But the baby is in a critical state. It narrowly escaped death. Is she going through something stressful at the moment?”

Richard sighed sadly. “She lost her dad a month ago.”

“It’s heartbreaking to lose a parent, but emotional and physical stress can affect the baby’s health. She’s in the early stages of pregnancy, and one wrong move could lead to a miscarriage.”

“What can I do?” Richard asked, not knowing how to help Kristin smile again.

“You need to convince her to move on. It’s painful to lose someone, but no amount of tears will bring the dead back.

If it could, everyone would fill a bucket to revive their loved ones. She’s going to be a mother, and if she wants her child to live, she has to try her best to move forward. That’s the only way to avoid stress and prevent a miscarriage.”

“Thank you, Doctor,” Richard said. The doctor smiled faintly.

“If someone walked through those doors and said you were Richard’s twin, I wouldn’t doubt it. Richard Hernandez just thanked me?

It’s hard to believe you’re speaking so calmly without your usual cold demeanor, even though your face still shows no smile,” the doctor remarked.

Richard was practically a celebrity in Las Vegas, known for his glamorous hotel. He owned other establishments, but the hotel was the most important to him.

Richard didn’t respond; even he hadn’t realized he could change from the cold person he used to be.

“I’ll attend to other patients. Let me know when your wife wakes up. I need to check on her before she’s discharged.”

Richard nodded, and after the doctor left, he sat beside Kristin, gently caressing her face. A smile formed as he looked at his beautiful wife.

The joy of knowing that the only woman he had ever loved in his thirty years was carrying his child was evident on his face.

He loved her more than all his achievements combined, and if he had to trade his wealth to save her life, he wouldn’t hesitate. She was his everything—his “forevermore,” as he always called her.

“I love you so much, my wife,” he whispered, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead. Then, his phone rang. It was Luke.

“What’s up, Luke?” Richard said as he answered, his other hand still softly patting Kristin.

“I’ve got news,” Luke replied.

“What news?”

“About the fire that happened at Kristin’s dad’s shop. My hunch was right. A boy was seen leaving the wine shop before Dante arrived.”

“A boy? Who is he?”

“Come to the city jail to see for yourself. I’m with one of the detectives who reviewed the street CCTV footage,” Luke said.

“Kristin is in the hospital; I can’t leave her alone.”

“Why? Did something happen?” Luke asked, his voice filled with concern.

“She’s pregnant.”

“You’re going to be a father? The man who once loathed kids is now becoming a father? Congratulations, Richard!” Luke said excitedly, even though Richard couldn’t see him.

“Thanks, Luke. I’ll ask Romina to watch over her while I’m gone. I’ll be at the city jail soon,” Richard said, ending the call.

He quickly called Romina, who arrived in no time.

“What happened to my bestie?” she asked, rushing in.

“She’s pregnant. Please stay with her until I’m back. If she needs anything, don’t hesitate to let me know.”

Romina nodded. “What about Baby Kathy and Kristin’s mom?”

“I didn’t tell Aunt Gladys about Kristin being in the hospital because I didn’t want her to worry. She’s trying to move on from Uncle Dante’s death, but she’s getting better.”

Richard nodded. “Please take care of my wife.”

“Don’t worry, Richard. I will,” Romina said with a smile, and Richard left for the city jail.
