INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 151 – 160
Richard rose from his chair, his hands in his suit pockets, and locked eyes with Paul.
“Are you really Baby Kathy’s father?” Richard asked, as both Kathryn and Kristin watched him intently.
For the first time, Kristin didn’t know what to say. She couldn’t remember the face of the man from that dimly lit restroom. Everything had happened so quickly that night—she had melted at his touch and given herself to him—but looking at Paul now, he didn’t have the aura of the man from that night.
“Kathryn is my daughter, and I came all the way here because I want to be with her,” Paul said.
“Even if you are her father, you won’t be able to have her. You’ll have to go through me first,” Richard said with authority, and Kathryn, barely reaching his waist, hugged him tightly.
“You can’t take away my right to be with my daughter,” Paul insisted.
“I don’t like you!” Kathryn shouted at him.
“You’re confident that you’re Baby Kathy’s father, right? Then let’s conduct a DNA test,” Richard said. Paul stood, his height average compared to Richard’s.
“Why would we need a DNA test? I told you I’m Kathryn’s father and shared my encounter with Kristin. Do you doubt I’m her dad? Can’t you see she has gray eyes just like me?” Paul asked.
“I have gray eyes too, but does that make me Kathryn’s father?” Richard replied, and Paul swallowed hard.
“Fine. Give me a sample of her hair, and I’ll run the test and bring you the results.”
Richard smirked and moved closer to Paul, his presence overwhelming.
“Do you think I’m stupid? Or some Gen Z? You want me to give you a sample of my daughter’s hair so you can run the DNA test yourself? I don’t trust you. DNA tests can be easily manipulated these days, so I won’t let you do it alone.”
“I’m not lying, Mr. Richard. I’m Kathryn’s father,” Paul defended himself, but a part of him was clearly nervous.
Richard’s gray eyes glinted menacingly. “I know. But we’re doing the DNA test right now.”
Paul looked at him nervously.
They all went to the hospital together, and both Paul and Kathryn’s blood samples were taken by Kristin’s doctor.
Paul sat nervously in the hallway corner, while Kristin and Kathryn remained with Richard. Kathryn’s eyes were fixed on Paul with intense dislike.
“Heartbeat, I’m scared. What if Paul really is Kathryn’s father? He doesn’t seem trustworthy, and I won’t let him spend even a second with her,” Kristin said worriedly.
Richard placed his hand over hers. “Do you trust your husband?” he asked. Kristin nodded.
“Then you have nothing to worry about, okay?”
“I’m sorry for all the trouble,” Kristin said, as tears rolled down her cheeks. Richard smiled softly and wiped them away.
“It was bound to happen. Don’t be sorry, okay?” he said gently, and Kristin nodded, resting her head on his shoulder.
Paul glanced at Richard, trying to gauge what he was capable of.
He might be new in Las Vegas and didn’t know much about Richard, but those cold gray eyes were enough to intimidate anyone.
Paul stood up, and Richard asked, “Where are you going?”
“The results are taking too long. I need to use the restroom,” Paul replied, walking away.
