“Don’t ever mess with Daddy Richard’s daughter!” Kathryn shouted, spitting on Tabitha’s face again.
Paul was stunned by her bravery, but Adriana just smiled. She might not like Kathryn because of Kristin, but she was impressed by her courage. A part of her wondered if Kathryn could really be Richard’s daughter.
“How dare you?” Tabitha yelled, slapping Kathryn hard across the cheek, caring less that she was just a child.
Kathryn’s cheek reddened from the slap, but she didn’t cry. Instead, her gray eyes stared fearlessly at Tabitha.
“When my Daddy Richard gets here, you’ll regret slapping his daughter,” Kathryn said. Tabitha grabbed her hair, yanking it so hard that it almost came off her scalp, making Kathryn wince slightly.
“Your so-called Daddy Richard won’t save you this time. He doesn’t even know I have you. By the time he figures it out, you’ll be dead.”
Kathryn felt a flicker of fear, but it passed quickly.
“You’ve just signed your own death warrant by kidnapping me. Now that I know who you are, I’ll tell my Daddy Richard. You’re not supposed to be his mother!” Kathryn shouted, tears finally streaming down her face.
Adriana’s eyes narrowed as she watched Tabitha. It was obvious she wasn’t pleased with what Tabitha was doing. Though trained to be heartless, deep down, she was still the same Adriana who had a heart before Tabitha abducted her and turned her into an accomplice.
“Your so-called Daddy Richard never should have been born. But since fate brought him here, I have no choice but to punish him for his existence. He’s strong, so the best way to hurt him is through the people he loves. I’ll start with you, then your mommy, and then your unborn baby brother. I’m going to leave him shattered.” Tabitha laughed wickedly at her words.
“You’re a bad mother! A terrible mother!” Kathryn cried, her heart breaking because of her Daddy Richard.
Tabitha stood up with a smirk.
“You’re evil! So evil!” Kathryn sobbed, her cries growing louder.
“Paul.”
“Yes, ma’am?”
“She’s too noisy. Shut her up,” Tabitha ordered as she walked away, Adriana following close behind.
“Let go of me! Daddy Rich…” Kathryn’s words were cut short as Paul sealed her mouth with duct tape.
“I think you should let the innocent kid go,” Adriana said as they entered another room in the warehouse.
Tabitha lit a cigarette, taking a deep drag before replying.
“Your target is Julio and Ophelia, right? Then leave Richard out of this! It’s not his fault he was born! Haven’t you tortured him enough? He didn’t have a happy childhood because of you, and now that he finally has a family he cares about, you want to take that away from him? What kind of person are you?” Adriana shouted.
Tabitha picked up a gun and shot Adriana in the arm. Adriana groaned in pain, clutching her bleeding wound.
Tabitha walked toward her, her stilettos clicking loudly on the floor. She lifted Adriana’s chin with the barrel of the gun, her eyes cold and menacing.
“I guess I’ve been too lenient with you. You seem to be forgetting what I’m capable of. You are my pawn, Adriana, and I can easily discard you if you disobey me.”
Tears fell from Adriana’s eyes as she pressed her hand to her bleeding arm.
“You visited your family, didn’t you? Should I start with your brother, who’s working in a repair shop right now? Or your father, who’s struggling to get back on his feet? I have eyes on them. Who should I start with? Your dad or your brother?”
Adriana crawled toward her, grabbing her leg and begging.
“Please don’t hurt my family! I’ll do anything you want. Just leave them out of this!” she cried.
Tabitha laughed coldly, the desire for revenge consuming her heart.
“That’s why you should’ve stuck to your training. You never should’ve fallen in love with Richard,” Tabitha said, causing Adriana’s eyes to widen in shock.
“You think I didn’t know? Richard is handsome, sure, but you made a mistake, Adriana. You fell in love with him, and now you’ve grown soft and refuse to comply with me.”
