INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 191 – 200
By Succie Brown
The following morning, Richard came downstairs with Kristin and noticed Gladys, Romina, Luke, and Lewis setting the table for breakfast, with Kathryn helping out in any way she could.
“What are you all doing?” he asked. They immediately stopped and hurried over to him.
“We made breakfast for you,” they said in unison.
Richard glanced at the array of breakfast options on the table, then back at them.
“I’m not hungry,” he said after a brief silence.
“You need to eat, Richard. Yesterday was…” Luke began.
“I’m over it, Luke. You should know by now—I don’t dwell on things for too long,” Richard replied.
Gladys gently held his hand, caressing it softly. “Are you sure?” she asked, concern in her voice.
“I’m fine, Mom,” Richard managed a small smile.
“I told you he’d be fine once he woke up. He is Richard, after all,” Lewis said, smiling at Richard, while Luke shot him a swift glare.
“Does that mean you’re going to forgive Julio and Ophelia?” Romina asked.
“I don’t want to talk about them. My main priority is putting an end to Tabitha. She’s had control for too long; it’s time for her to step down,” Richard stated.
“How are you going to do that? Tabitha is incredibly cunning,” Luke said.
“I know. Adriana knows a lot about her—she’s the only one who might lead us to her.”
“You were heartbroken last night, Heartbeat. Shouldn’t you rest before going after Tabitha, who’s like a devil in disguise?” Kristin asked, worry clear on her face.
Richard turned to her. “You only have a month left before you give birth. If I don’t put an end to Tabitha, she might come after our baby. Her target is me because I’m her enemy’s son. I don’t want our child born into a world where Tabitha still exists. Kathryn, too—I want to keep her safe. I want our lives back to how they were, and that can only happen if Tabitha is out of the picture.”
Kristin nodded slowly. “I support your decision, Richard. I’m here to help, to make up for the things I did to you before.”
“Thank you, Lewis.”
“I’ll help too, Richard. I need some breathing space,” Luke said, glaring at Lewis before leaving.
“You should talk to him, Lewis. He’s been putting up with you because of me,” Richard said.
“I suppose I should,” Lewis replied, following Luke outside.
“I’m meeting up with Adriana. She’ll lead me to Tabitha,” Richard said.
Kathryn hugged him, while Kristin nodded, though her worry was still evident.
Outside, Lewis found Luke standing with his hands in his pockets.
“If you want to punch me, go ahead,” Lewis said, walking up to him.
Luke turned. “What are you doing here?”
“I know you can’t stand me. You’ve endured my presence for Richard’s sake. Just punch me and vent your anger instead of holding back.”
“Cecelia and I are over,” Luke said.
“But you’re mad at me, right? I slept with your wife, and…” Lewis trailed off when he saw the cold look in Luke’s eyes.
“I’m sorry, Luke. I was wrong. When Cecelia offered herself to me for money, I should’ve refused, but I didn’t. I hated Richard back then, and since you were closest to him, I accepted Cecelia’s offer. It was stupid, and I regret it.”
