“I’m not mad at you, Lewis.”
“Then why do you keep glaring at me?” Lewis asked.
Luke sighed. “It’s because Cecelia chose the wrong path. She could have accepted her mistakes and moved on, but she chose wickedness and ended up in prison. You acknowledged your mistakes and changed, but she didn’t.”
“Do you miss her?” Lewis asked.
Luke chuckled lightly. “I’d be lying if I said I didn’t, but I don’t love her like I used to. I just wish she hadn’t chosen the wrong path.”
“Maybe you should see her when this is over. Perhaps she’ll rethink her choices. I’m waiting for Natalie to come back from Japan after her therapy.”
“Lucky you. It’s over between Cecelia and me; our chapter is closed. But I might visit her after we deal with Tabitha.”
“Does that mean you forgive me?” Lewis asked, smiling.
“I’ll think about it,” Luke said, walking away.
Lewis chuckled, following him. “I’m sorry, Luke,” he whined playfully, and Luke cracked a smile.

**JULIO’S MANSION**
Julio sat on the couch, staring at an old picture of Tabitha from before her acid accident. As he looked at it, memories flooded back—promises he’d made to her when they were young.
Back then, he was born into a poor family, and neither of their families approved of their love. Yet, Julio had promised to stand by her. Tabitha was the heiress to her father’s fortune, but she defied her family to be with him, and they disowned her. She moved in with Julio until he decided to leave Las Vegas to work with his uncle in Europe. He promised he’d marry her, but in Europe, he fell in love with Ophelia.
When he returned to Las Vegas twelve years later, he didn’t know how to tell her about Ophelia, but when Tabitha offered herself to him, he accepted. His family approved of Ophelia, and they wanted him to marry her. He still remembered the hurt in Tabitha’s eyes when he told her about the engagement.
His parents came up with the idea of the acid attack after Tabitha’s parents had passed away, leaving her with no one to defend her. Back then, she’d been a kind soul. Julio knew that he had created the monster she’d become.
“This mess is my doing, and sadly, my son has to pay for my sins. If I hadn’t fallen for Ophelia and broken Tabitha’s heart, maybe… maybe you’d still be the good woman you once were. I’m sorry, Paulina,” he murmured, caressing the picture.
“Where’s Adriana?” Richard asked, entering the room.
Julio stood. “Rich—”
“I didn’t come to see you. Where is Adriana?” Richard’s tone was cold.
Julio sighed, sensing that his son still hadn’t forgiven him.
Ophelia came rushing downstairs when she heard Richard’s voice.
“My son,” she said, trying to hug him, but he pulled away, breaking her heart.
“Where’s Adriana?” he repeated, giving them no sign of warmth.
“I’m here,” Adriana said, descending the stairs.
“We need to talk,” Richard said, grabbing her hand. He turned to leave when Ophelia’s voice stopped him.
“Will you ever accept me as your mother?” she asked, her voice breaking.
“Never,” Richard replied without hesitation, then left with Adriana.
Ophelia broke down into miserable tears once again.
