Kristin gave a sad smile and hugged him.
They hug each other tightly until Richard finally had to leave. On his way out, he met Kathryn.
“Baby Kathy.”
“I won’t stop you from leaving, but make sure you come back to me.”
Richard smiled and knelt to her height.
“Why no tears in your eyes?”
“Because I trust my daddy. You’re too strong to be defeated by Tabitha. Mommy’s just soft-hearted; that’s why she’s crying,” Kathryn said.
Richard chuckled, brushing her hair. “Why are you so strong?”
“Because I am your biological daughter. You told me that when you got shot. You thought I forgot about it?” Kathryn chuckled and continued.
“I didn’t forget, i just didn’t tell mommy because I wanted you to tell her yourself. But I am so happy you’re my real daddy” Kathryn smiled.
Richard smiled and hugged her.
“Daddy will be back.”
“I know. You don’t need to tell me,” Kathryn said confidently, making him smile even wider.

Lewis took a deep breath, hesitating to call Natalie. He sighed, tossing his phone away, but soon picked it up again, closing his eyes as he dialed.
His heart raced as it rang until she finally answered.
“Finally, you called,” Natalie said, making Lewis smile.
“Expecting my call?” he asked.
“Just because we’re divorced doesn’t make us enemies. You didn’t turn out like Cecelia, so yes, I have been expecting you to call me”.
Lewis smiled.
“So, why did you call?” Natalie asked.
“How’s the leg treatment in Japan?”
“It’s going great. They’re 99% sure I’ll walk again.”
“That’s amazing,” Lewis said, smiling.
For thirty seconds there was silence between them.
“Do you have something to say to me because I am in the middle of my treatment?”
“Well… Merry Christmas.”
“Christmas is two months away,” Natalie laughed. “Why wish it now?”
“I may not be here to say it when the time comes.”
“What do you mean?”
“You won’t understand. If I’m still here, would you want to celebrate Christmas with me?” Lewis asked.
“Are you back in Las Vegas?”
“Yes.”
“I plan to celebrate Christmas there, so let’s see.”
“Thanks, Nat.”
“Don’t thank me yet. I didn’t promise,” she said with a laugh.
Lewis chuckled.
“Anyway, I’ve got to go… goodbye, Lewis,” she said, ending the call.
“I still love you, Nat. I hope I get to celebrate Christmas with you. Even if I don’t make it, it’d be worth paying for everything I did to my best friend,” Lewis murmured, a bittersweet smile on his face.

Romina stood outside Luke’s house, waiting. When he emerged, a smile crept onto his face.
“Why didn’t you come in if you were worried?” he asked.
“I’m not worried,” she scoffed. “I only came because Kristin asked.”
Luke stepped closer. “You’re terrible at lying.”
“I’m not lying.”
“Alright,” Luke said, pretending to leave, but Romina grabbed his hand.
“Please, be safe.”
Luke turned to her with a smile. “I thought you weren’t worried.”
Romina pouted. “I lied. I am worried. Tabitha is dangerous,” she sniffled.
