He squatted beside her, tears falling as he looked at her.
Ophelia’s hand struggled to reach his face as blood kept bubbling from her mouth.
“I’m—sorry for every bad thing I—did to you—my son,” she struggled to say, more tears falling from Richard’s eyes.
“I—accept that I am a bad mother for not recognizing my own son—I always planned evil for you. I paid someone to drug you seven years ago when you went to the Philippines for a business meeting. It was my plan for you to sleep with a lady I hired so she could accuse you of rape, but my plan failed.
I am sorry for all the misery you had to endure and for hating you for twenty years. I guess this is my verdict for everything I did to you,” Ophelia said.
“Save your strength; I will take you to the hospital,” Richard said, sniffling, but Ophelia shook her head.
“There’s no need for that. Can you please call me ‘Mom,’ even if you can’t forgive me? I want to hear you call me ‘Mom’ before I meet my death.”
More tears fell from Richard’s eyes.
“I forgive you, Mom,” Richard broke down in tears.
“Thank you—my son,” Ophelia said.
Her eyes slowly closed, and her hand fell from Richard’s face.
Julio checked her heartbeat, and she was no longer breathing—she was dead.
“Your mom is dead,” Julio said, heartbreakingly.
Richard’s went widen as tears fell from it. He hugged Ophelia’s lifeless body as he cried in agony.
“Mom!!!!!!”
He held her dearly, crying, her skin slowly turning cold.
