INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 201 – THE END

The door of the morgue opened, and Kristin, Romina, Gladys, and Adriana entered the ward.

“Heartbeat,” Kristin called softly as she approached him, stunned by the sight of Ophelia’s lifeless body on the slab.

“My mom is gone… forever. Just when I learned she was my mother, I lost her. She’s dead, Heartbeat,” Richard said.

Kristin blinked back her tears and hugged him.

“Everything’s going to be okay, Heartbeat. You’ll get through this. I know how you feel; I lost my dad too, but you’ll be alright,” Kristin comforted her husband as he cried freely in her arms.

They all left the ward, with Kristin holding onto Richard. Though he was no longer crying, his eyes were red and swollen.

Soon, the FBI, Luke, and Lewis arrived at the morgue, and Romina quickly rushed to Luke when she noticed his injured leg. He had received treatment before coming.

“What happened to you?” she asked worriedly, and Luke smiled.

“I’m fine.”

“How can you be fine when you’re hurt?” she asked, concerned, and Luke ruffled her hair with a smile.

“It’s just a slight injury, okay? I’m back safe and sound, just like I promised,” he winked, flashing his dimples.

Romina looked at him with concern before hugging him.

“Were you able to catch Tabitha?” Richard asked.

“Tabitha is dead. She killed herself,” Lewis replied.

“Tabitha killed herself?” Julio asked, surprised.

“Yes, she pulled two bullets in her head. No one survives that,” Mark confirmed.

“I’m not surprised. She is capable of anything. She’d rather die than be defeated by her enemies,” Adriana added.

“Well, it’s better this way. With her dead, we can finally live in peace,” Gladys said.

“Her body is still in custody. What should we do with it?” Mark asked.

“She doesn’t deserve a burial. Throw her body into the woods and let it be scavenged by vultures and owls until there’s nothing left,” Richard ordered.

“Right away, Mr. Richard,” Mark said, and he and the FBI left to carry out the order.

“Our lives can return to normal now, Heartbeat. Like Mom said, it’s better that she’s dead,” Kristin smiled, relieved.

“Where’s baby Kathy?” Richard asked.

“Daddy!” Kathryn rushed toward him, hugging him tightly.

“I’m glad you’re safe, Daddy,” Kathryn sniffled, and Richard scooped her up.

“There’s no way I’d ever leave you and your mommy,” he said, making her grin.

Richard’s eyes turned to Kristin.

“Forevermore, I have something to tell you. I’m sorry for keeping it from you. The truth is, I am—”

“You’re Kathryn’s father,” Kristin interrupted.

“How did you know?” Richard asked, surprised.

“Kathryn told us,” Romina said, and Richard looked at Kathryn.

“I’m sorry, Dad. I told Mommy at the last minute when I heard gunshots over the phone, and she fainted.

Aunt Romina joined her because she was worried something might’ve happened to Uncle Luke,” Kathryn explained.

Luke glanced at Romina, and she smiled shyly.
