INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 41 – 50
Kristin brought out her head from her thighs and she began rolling on the bed, making funny sounds.
She was so embarrassed.
Richard heard her funny voice from outside the room, and he smiled.
Sharing his sad story with Kristin, somehow reduced the pains he has kept in, for years.
Waking up the following day, Kristin comes downstairs and sees Richard setting up the table for breakfast.
She wanted to go back to her room, but Richard’s voice stopped her.
“Good morning, Firefly”
Kristin bit her lips, she was still embarrassed from last night.
She turns to look at Richard, faking a smile.
“Good morning”
“Let’s have breakfast before I leave for work”
“Go ahead and eat, I’m going to eat later” She said, still faking a smile.
Richard walked closer to her, overshadowing her with his heights.
“Are you still shy that I saw you naked?” He asked.
“Of course not! Why would I still be shy?” She asked, but she knew deep down she was still shy about it.
If she hadn’t fallen unconscious, Richard wouldn’t have seen her naked talk more of dressing her up.
He held her hand, and she stared at him.
“Let’s eat breakfast, you shouldn’t think deeply about what happened last night. I won’t do it again, I promise, “he said.
Kristin puffed out some air from her mouth, it’s not like he would undress her again anyways.
She smiled at him and they both sat down on the dining chair to eat.
“How does it taste?” He asked as they ate together in the dining room that had so many chairs, that it could contain an extended family.
“You were the one who prepared breakfast?”
“Yes. You think I don’t know how to cook?”
“Well, since the chefs literally does the cooking, I thought maybe you didn’t know how to”
“I took training for it, but I only know how to prepare simple dishes,” Richard said.
“It tastes nice,” Kristin smiled at him.
“You should eat a lot, I don’t always eat much,” Richard said, concentrating on his food.
Kristin’s eyes were on his. The emotional eyes she saw last night were gone, and it was back to being cold and plain.
She wished she would be able to see him smile every day, but Kristin knew it’d take a long process for him to smile and be like a normal human.
What he went through as a child was so pitiful, and he has every reason to be cold-hearted.
“Why are you looking at me?” He asked, and Kristin shook her head with a smile.
“Don’t pity me, Firefly. I didn’t tell you about my miserable childhood so you can render pity on me. Just be by side like you have promised me”
“I will, and I will patiently wait for you to live as a happy man”
Richard looked at her, but he didn’t say anything. He doesn’t know if he would ever be happy, cuz since the day he was born, his life wasn’t a happy one.
“Your food taste so yummy, Mr. Grouchy” She gave a high thumbs up, and he only smiled a little, but it didn’t last.
After they were done having breakfast, Kristin was about to see Richard off, when her phone rang.
She smiled when she saw the caller was her mom.
“Hello mom”
“Kristin” Gladys cried over the phone.
“What’s wrong mom, why are you crying?” She asked.
Kristin’s worried tone made Richard look at her.
“It’s your father, he fell from a tree last night” Her mom broke the sad news to her.
“What?” Tears crept out from Kristin’s eyes, making Richard wonder what was going on.
“How is dad doing? Is he okay? Is he still breathing?” Kristin asked, already shaking in fear.
She confirmed the condition of her father from her mother, and ended the call.
“Is everything okay, Firefly? Why are you crying? What happened?” Richard asked.
Kristin broke into tears.
“You’re making me worried, what’s going on?” Richard asked in a worried tone.
“I need to go back to Glenwood”
