On a fateful day while begging on the street, he saw Richard with Julio, they were about to enter a shopping mall.

He was astonishingly dressed like the way a son of a rich man will dress.

“Richard?” It took Lewis some seconds to finally know it was Richard, so he swiftly rushed to him, happy to see his best friend who he thought he lost.

“Richard!” Lewis squealed.

“Do you know him?” Julio, who already adopted Richard at that time asked.

Lewis smiled waiting for Richard’s answers, maybe he’d help him out from the street.

Richard’s cold gray eyes stared at Lewis, and after a swift silence, Richard phrased out his response.

“No, I don’t dad”

Lewis couldn’t believe his ears after Richard denied him. He had doubts that Richard would deny him after what he had done for him.

“Stop joking, Richard. I’m your best friend” Lewis tried hugging him, but a forceful push from Richard sent him to the ground.

“I don’t know you!” Richard’s cold voice said.

He took Julio’s hand, and said; “Let’s go dad, I don’t know him”

Richard went inside the shopping mall without sparing Lewis a glance.

Lewis was shocked by Richard’s ill treatment towards him, but with a hope that Richard might change his mind, he waited everyday at the shopping mall for him.

Sometimes he does come to the mall, other times he doesn’t, and when he does, he always denies knowing Lewis.

He watch Lewis begged and being bullied by the older street kids, but Richard didn’t render him mercy, what he kept saying anytime he comes across Lewis was; “I don’t know you”

This continued, until Lewis caught the attention of Natalie, who happens to be his wife now.

The younger version of Natalie pleaded with her parents to take him in.

Lewis was first taken in as a servant, but later on he became part of Natalie’s family.

He had the chance to have the sweet taste of a good life, and he had sworn he’d make Richard pay.

Lewis clenched his fist after going back in time when Richard denied him without blinking an eye.

“I was always there for you when you needed a friend, but you couldn’t return the favor. I have no regrets, trying to bring you down, cuz you deserve it” Lewis added pressure to his clenched fist, his eyes a rhapsody of anger and vengeance.

Richard and Kristin sat with Julio, as their eyes were on the newspaper on the table.

The media took turns in publishing their kissing moment on papers.

It was going viral on the internet, and their kissing scene was the main headlines.

“I didn’t know you both were that serious. A kiss in public?” Julio asked.

Kristin and Richard’s eyes met and a smile appeared on their faces.

“Richard, did you just smile?” Julio asked, his heart welling up in joy.

He felt overwhelmed at the sight of a smile on Richard’s face; something he has never seen before.

“I only smiled at my wife.” He locked his hand on Kristin.

“Is that true, Kristin?” Julio asked.

Kristin wanted to answer the question, but her laugh did the answering for her.

“Whether your smile belonged to your wife alone, I am so happy to see you smile, Richard”

“You’re afraid of jangling sound? Though the public isn’t talking about it because of the kiss you both shared, I saw the fear in your eyes when you heard that jangling sounds” Julio added.

Kristin’s eyes gazed at Richard, curious to know if he’d reveal the truth to his dad.

The room was silent for a moment, before Richard finally spoke.

“Yes I am phobia to jangling sound, but I can’t tell you why”

Julio smiled.

“It’s understandable, Richard. I won’t press you to tell me”

“Thanks dad,” He said.

Julio’s eyes went to Kristin.

“Can I have a word with my daughter in law… alone?”

“Why?” Richard asked.

“I want to discuss something with her that’s not meant for your ears”

“Take care of her,” Richard said, and Julio nodded with a smile.

“I will come back to get you,” Richard stood.

Kristin nodded, and they both stared at each other for a moment before Richard left.
