“Why can’t you understand that I am telling the truth?” Cecelia’s voice came from behind them, her stilettos echoing on the floor.
She finally approached them.
“Seriously, Luke? You’re disclosing our affairs to her?”
“She is your wife?” Kristin asked.
“Yes, I am his wife!” Cecelia snapped.
This was the first time Cecelia had seen Luke talking to another woman, and she felt a pang of jealousy.
“She is my wife. I have something to attend to,” Luke said, walking past Cecelia.
“Really, Luke? I came here to see you, and you’re just going to walk out on me?” Cecelia asked loudly, but Luke didn’t spare her a glance.
“Just give him some time,” Kristin said, helping Luke with his response.
Cecelia wanted to react but saw it as a good opportunity to get to know Kristin and befriend her to extort money from Lewis. She was unaware that Lewis was hospitalized.
“Thanks. I’m Cecelia,” she said with a fake smile.
“I’m Kristin,” Kristin said, genuinely smiling at her.
“I’m not cheating on Luke. The movie happened to be my favorite, and that’s why I mentioned the character’s name.”
Kristin only smiled.
“You’re close with my husband, right? How about we become friends?” Cecelia smiled, handing her phone to Kristin.
Kristin understood the message and gave Cecelia her phone number.
“I’m going to call you,” Cecelia said with a smile, but her face turned angry as she walked out of the hotel.
Kristin took her phone from her bag and noticed Romina had called. She hadn’t heard the phone ringing because it was on silent.
*How is my daughter doing?* Kristin texted, a worried look on her face.

Kristin stepped out of the car, her eyes fixed on her phone. It had been two days and Romina hasn’t replied to her text or answered her call.
She was worried because she hadn’t heard from her daughter, and her parents weren’t answering their phones either.
“Are you okay?” Richard asked when he noticed the worried expression on her face.
Kristin nodded, slipping her phone into her pocket. Richard extended his hand, and she accepted it gratefully.
They entered the fine dining establishment, and Richard began to show her around. He had been taking her to his other properties besides the hotel.
“I think I remember this place; this is where you took me when I mistook you for a thief, right?” she asked with a smile.
“Just after you smacked my head,” Richard reminded her, and she laughed.
Although his face was as usual, seeing her laugh made him smile. Her happiness was the only thing that could bring a smile to his face.
“Was it that painful?” she asked, half-serious.
“Should I smack you on the head so you can know how painful it was?” he joked.
Kristin laughed and covered her head playfully.
One of the employees approached Richard, demanding his attention. He left, leaving Kristin to explore the establishment on her own.
“This is a bit of an issue. Just refund their money and make sure they leave,” Richard said when he learned that a customer was complaining and requesting a refund because the service did not meet her expectations.
“Okay, boss.”
