Sasha’s POV
“Mom,” we both said at the same time, and I quickly glanced at him. Did he just call her ‘mom’ too, or am I imagining it?
She stopped in her tracks, looking around at everyone, then whispered something to Paul and he replied immediately and her eyes landed on Knight, lighting up with a smile that just left me even more puzzled.
“What… What are you two doing here?” I asked, rolling my eyes and frowning at them.
“Hey, at least let them come in all the way first, girl. That’s kinda rude,” Bluey jumped in, and I sighed, shooting them a glare.
“Good morning —oh wait, it’s already afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence,” Bluey’s mom said with a smile, which my mom returned. Yeah, once Bluey and I became friends, our parents got a bit closer, too.
“Good to see you, Callista! It’s been a while,” my mom responded, grinning and reaching out for a handshake.
“It really has! How have you been?” Mom asked while shaking her hand.
“I’m doing alright… just came to check on my kids,” Mom said, leaving us all a bit puzzled.
“Your kids? You mean your daughter, Sasha?” Bluey’s mom inquired, and Mom let out a sigh.
“Sasha?” I heard Knight mumble, and I turned to find him looking at me intently, which threw me off a bit. What’s up with Bluey’s boyfriend?
“It’s a long story, but don’t worry. You’ll get it soon enough. That’s actually why I’m here,” Mom said, shifting her focus back to me.
“Afternoon, Mom,” Bluey chimed in, and Mom’s face lit up with a smile right away.
“Oh my goodness, is this Bluey? She’s grown so big and matured! I swear I didn’t recognize her for a while,” Mom said with a chuckle.
“How are you doing, honey? And why are you in a hospital gown?” Mom asked, staring at her worriedly.
“It’s nothing serious, I wasn’t feeling well some days back, but I’m okay now,” Bluey said, and Mom nodded.
“I’m sorry about that. You’ve become so thick that I could mistake you for your mom’s sister,” she said, and Bluey’s mom chuckled.
“That’s so true, Benjamin said that too” Mom said with a smile.
“Is he……..??” Mom asked, staring at Knight and the way Bluey was clinging onto his hands.
“Oh, yes, he’s my boyfriend. Meet Knight, my boyfriend, and baby, this is Sasha’s mom,” Bluey said, but neither of them said anything. Knight just continued staring at Mom and then back to me while Mom did the same.
“Glad you’re okay now,” she said and glanced at Knight on the bed, who was staring at Mom like he’d seen a ghost.
“What are you doing here, Mom??” I asked, and she broke the stare immediately.
“You’ll soon find out, honey. Please be patient and let me speak…… I promise you’re going to love this,” she pleaded, and Bluey gave me a look that said, ‘sit down and listen,’ so I did.
“Good afternoon, Mr. Lawrence. Sorry I didn’t greet you,” Bluey said as he smiled lightly.
Well, you see… Dad doesn’t talk too much, and most times he just nods or hums in reply when he’s being spoken to.
“How are you doing Bluey??”He asked.
“I’m fine, thanks”Bluey said with a smile.
“Sorry, there aren’t many chairs for you guys to sit on,” Bluey’s mom said, and she shook her head immediately.
“It’s fine, Callista; I actually would prefer standing up,” Mom said,
“How are you doing princess, you won’t even greet your daddy??”He asked with hurt laced in his voice.
“Good afternoon dad”I greeted with a faux smile. Well I and dad used to be really really closed untill what happened.
“So you guys must be wondering why we’re here, and I’m going to tell you the reason why,” she said, inhaling sharply as she stared at Knight.
