CHAPTER 161 – 163:

IN THE MELANCHOLIC FACE OF VICTORY

When Kracus came into view, Tesiera’s heart somersaulted, a mix of fear and overwhelming relief flooding through her. He had come for her. Despite everything she had put him through, he was here.

REVENGE WITH LOVE : CHAPTER 161 - THE END

A sudden sense of calm and safety washed over her. Her man was by her side. Everything would be alright. Her lips curled into a small smile, even as her eyes welled up with tears.

Jaden Newman suddenly loomed in front of her, his face contorted with anger. “What the hell is this? You came with fucking backup!? Your little boyfriend and the mafia?” He delivered a resounding slap to her cheek, followed by another, and another.

Then, he yanked on her hair, forcing her head to tilt backward. “You bitch.”

“I told you that you would be the one joining Raymond in hell,” Tesiera’s ears rang, her cheeks stinging painfully. “If I were you, I’d be halfway across the world by now.”

Just then, the door burst open, and Kracus and Clinton stormed in. Jaden swiftly moved behind her, gripping her neck tightly and pressing a cocked gun against her skull. “Make any sudden moves, and I’ll blow her brains out.”

They both froze. “Are you alright, Tesiera?” Kracus asked, concern etched across his face.

Even in this dire situation, after all the pain she had caused him, he still worried about her? “I-I’m fine,” she managed to say. She wanted to apologize for leaving him earlier that morning, for hurting him once again, but she knew now wasn’t the time or place for it.

Jaden was uncomfortably close, and Tesiera could feel the outline of his body pressed against the back of her head.

Then, Kracus faced her captor. “This place is surrounded. Your men are dead. Release her, and we might consider sparing your life.”

“Not a chance in hell. You think I’m still a child you can deceive—”

Tesiera mustered all her strength and slammed the back of her head forcefully into Jaden’s groin. With a grunt, he stumbled forward. That split-second distraction was enough. Bose shot Jaden in the leg, causing him to collapse to the ground. All of this happened within a split second.

Kracus rushed towards Jaden and delivered a powerful punch to his face. “That’s for kidnapping my niece,” he said, landing another punch. “For my sister.” Another punch followed. “For hurting my woman.” He unleashed three more punches. “And for disrespecting my woman by undressing her. You had no right to humiliate her like that, to lay a hand on her!”

Blood poured from Jaden’s nose and mouth, yet Kracus kept striking him until Bose intervened. “You don’t get to have all the fun, boss.”

Then, Bose slapped Jaden Newman hard across the face and delivered a swift kick. “That’s for Clinton and me. You put us through so much, you worthless piece of shit.”

“Wait!” Tesiera’s voice rang out, as Bose positioned himself to end Jaden Newman’s life with a bullet. He turned to look at her, and she added, “He’s mine.”

Kracus was already rushing to her side. “You infuriatingly stubborn woman,” he cursed as he hastily untied her, his tone filled with anger but his eyes reflecting relief. “What the hell were you thinking, coming here all by yourself? Didn’t you trust me to have your back?”

“I’m so sorry. It was too dangerous. I just wanted to protect you,” Tesiera apologized, her voice filled with remorse.

“You thought walking into danger, getting yourself killed would protect ME? It would destroy me if anything happened to you. Can’t you get that into your head!?” Kracus finished untying her and pulled her into a tight embrace.

“But you’ll still be alive,” she weakly argued, clinging onto him. He felt so comforting, and she never thought she would experience this kind of safety again.

“You think that’s living? Oh, you foolish, stubborn woman,” he pulled back slightly to kiss her passionately for a few seconds. “Don’t ever do that again, do you hear me?”

She nodded, her heart pounding. She couldn’t believe he was here. “How did you know?”

“I was awake when you left this morning. I wanted so badly to stop you, but I didn’t want you to know I was awake, so you wouldn’t know I was onto you. I knew something wasn’t right the night before, that you might be thinking of making a martyr out of yourself. I called Big Cat later, but he had no idea if something was wrong. However, he assured me he would find out. The bottom line is, Venus told him everything. They contacted Rex, and he gave them the address where the meetup was going to happen. That’s how we ended up here,” Kracus explained.

“And Hazel?” she asked anxiously, almost afraid of the answer.

Kracus smiled genuinely. “She’s safe. Still with Rex,” he reassured her, kissing her again. “You did a foolish thing coming here all by yourself, but thank you for saving her, Tesiera. God knows I love you so much, even when I’m mad at you.”

Her heart settled, and she closed her eyes tightly. “I love you too.”

“Tell me again after all this,” he whispered.

Bose entered the room, carrying a long shirt and handed it to Tesiera. She accepted it gratefully. “Thanks, Bose.”

“I’m glad you’re in one piece,” he responded sincerely. “Clinton was worried we would be late. He’s still out there fighting. There are a lot of his men all over the place. It would have been impossible to make it out of here alive without our help, Tesiera, what the hell were you thinking?”

Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment, but she gave him a half-hearted glare, “Hey, only one man is allowed to scold me, and you’re not him.”

Bose scoffed, “You think I’m scolding you? Wait until Clinton sees you. Speaking of Clinton, we need to go back out there to join in the fight, Boss.” He directed his last statement to Kracus.

Kracus pulled away from Tesiera. “You got it here, right?” he asked, referring to Jaden who was groaning on the floor, nursing his wounded leg.

She nodded, quicking putting the shirt on. “Oh yes I do. He’s in great hands.”

Kracus and Bose walked away. Then, she faced her target.

“Finally, you’re exactly where I want you,” Tesiera circled Jaden, mirroring his earlier actions.

“Please, please don’t do this. You don’t want to do this,,” Jaden begged as he spat out blood. His eyes swollen shut, his face red.

Tesiera walked over to the table of torture devices and glanced back at him, a smirk on her face. “You don’t know me if you think I don’t want to do this. You’ve kept me awake these past few days, and you almost ruined my relationship.” Her eyes blazed with fury. “I’ll never forgive you for that.”

She picked up the Katar dagger and duct tape. Carefully, she taped his wound to prevent him from bleeding out, and then she began carving into him with surgical precision. His screams echoed through the room, shaking the walls. Outside, the sound of gunfire, shouts, and war cries filled the air.

After a few minutes, she stepped away from the unrecognizable corpse on the floor, Jaden’s body chopped into tiny pieces like a butcher had gotten hold of meat. She cleaned up in the bathroom before stepping out of the room.

More of Jaden’s men tried to stop her on her way out, but she eliminated them one by one until she reached the outside. Jaden had prepared for her, and his cohorts were everywhere. The ground was littered with the bodies of his soldiers.

“Siera, are you okay?”

She turned at the sound of Big Cat’s voice and he pulled her into a tight embrace. She hugged him back. “I’m fine, I’m fine.”

He pulled back, his tone filled with sadness. “I know I’ve been lacking as a father, but I didn’t think it was up to this extent. Why didn’t you tell me? You became so independent that you’d rather put yourself at risk than ask for help. It hurts, Siera. Did you ever consider how I or the man you love would have felt? Don’t our feelings matter to you?”

Guilt washed over her once again. “It’s not like that. I didn’t think about it that way. I…” She realized she had been so accustomed to surviving on her own, doing things independently. And now that she finally knew what love was, she had put herself in danger instead of risking someone she cared about getting hurt.

They were right. She should have asked for help. She should have considered their feelings. Kracus had said it would destroy him if anything happened to her. She hadn’t thought about it that way. She’d thought of simply protecting their lives with her own, but would merely keeping them alive be enough, or could she have caused them immense pain?

“I’m so sorry,” she finally said, her words filled with sincerity. “Please forgive me.”

“I’m just glad you weren’t hurt. Promise not to do something like this ever again?” His eyes gleamed with that stubbornness Tesiera had always known growing up, the kind of determination that sparked a fire in his gaze. It was the look he wore whenever he anticipated resistance, ready to fight her if necessary.

But Tesiera had no intention of defying him. “I promise,” she replied, her voice filled with sincerity.

He blinked, clearly taken aback. “Oh,” he said, his suspicion giving way to surprise as he processed her words.

A faint smile tugged at Tesiera’s lips, knowing that he would find no deception in her vow. She had made the same promise to Kracus not long ago. No more recklessly endangering her life, and she would always seek their counsel, always ask for help before diving headfirst into danger.

Besides, Tesiera had grown tired of being a Torturer. It had lost its allure and excitement. She would choose Kracus, a future by his side, over tormenting targets and pursuing danger any day.

Just then, the others began to emerge. Venus, Clinton, Bose, Kracus—they walked toward Tesiera. Happiness surged within her as she saw Kracus unharmed. He smiled and waved at her before making his way over.

However, in a sudden, chilling moment, two gunshots rang out.

Tesiera’s heart leaped into her throat, expecting to feel the searing pain of a bullet tearing through her flesh. But it never came. Someone else had taken the bullets. Please, let them be okay…

Her eyes darted around frantically, searching for the source of the shots. Then, a roar of agony erupted from Bose, followed by Clinton’s enraged cry of, “YOU SONOFABITCH!!!”

And that was when Tesiera saw Kracus fall.
The bullets had found their mark, striking him…twice.

Time seemed to slow down, each passing moment stretching out into eternity. Kracus had been shot. Her beloved, her partner, her rock—he had been shot…twice.

“No, no, no,” Tesiera cried out, her voice filled with desperation, as she sprinted toward Kracus.

Bose and Clinton fired their guns in response, but she could no longer see or hear anything clearly. She collapsed beside Kracus, a pool of blood expanding around him. The sight was unbearable.

“We need an ambulance, make it happen,” Big Cat’s voice on the phone sounded distant, as if coming from a faraway place. Kracus coughed, his breathing labored and irregular.

Tesiera’s hands trembled as she applied pressure to his wounds, desperately trying to stem the bleeding. “Stay with me, p-please stay with me,” she pleaded, her words slipping out unconsciously.

Tesiera wasn’t the one who had been shot, but her life flashed before her eyes.

The thought of Kracus dying, of him being absent from her future, of hearing those dreadful words from the doctors pronouncing him dead, as they had done with her father… What if he didn’t make it?

“Baby…” Kracus managed to utter, his voice weak and fragile.

A heart-wrenching sob tore from Tesiera’s throat. Then another. And another.

Then, she was sobbing like a child, completely unrestrained. Overcomed by a torrent of tears, her anguished cries pouring out uncontrollably.

“Siera, let me, honey. Come on,” Big Cat urged, his voice filled with compassion, encouraging her to release her trembling hands. He took over, applying pressure to staunch the flow of blood. “The ambulance will be here very soon.”

Tesiera cradled Kracus’s head in her lap, holding him tightly. “No, oh G-God, please. Stay w-with me, baby, please,” she whispered, her voice trembling with fear and desperation.

Clinton returned with Bose, ensuring that the assailant who had fired that shot with his last strength was unequivocally dead. However, satisfaction eluded him as his attention immediately shifted to the boss, who lay wounded on the ground. Tesiera and Big Cat knelt beside him, their faces etched with worry and despair.

The sound of Tesiera’s sobs tore at Clinton’s heart. It was a sound he never thought he’d ever hear—Tesiera, crying so hard, sobbing like her heart has been torn wide open from her chest.

“Please, b-baby,” she pleaded through her sobs. “I’m so s-sorry, I shouldn’t have left. I n-never meant to hurt you. I was foolish, not thinking clearly. Please, don’t do this to me. I can’t bear the thought of losing you. I can’t live without you.”

Clinton’s own eyes welled up with tears as he watched Tesiera’s anguish. Even Bose was struggling to hold back his emotions.

And Big Cat, the commanding mafia godfather looked utterly helpless, clearly overwhelmed by his niece’s pain, not knowing a way to make it instantly go away.

“Siera…” The boss’s voice was barely audible. His eyes heavy with exhaustion and loss of blood. “Baby…”

Then, Kracus’s eyelids slowly closed, and his head slumped to the side.

“KRACUSSSSSS!!!” Tesiera’s scream pierced the air, a gut-wrenching cry of agony. “NOOOOOO!!!”

The sound of it broke Clinton and a tear slipped from his eyes. He reached down and pulled her into his arms, his voice barely above a whisper. “Please, Tesiera, try to hold yourself together. The ambulance will be here soon.”

But she was lost in her own world of grief. Her body shook violently, her cries echoing around them. “N-no, no, oh God, p-please. God, please, don’t t-t-take him away from me.”

Bose also knelt beside her and enveloped them both into his arms, “We need to stay strong for him, Siera.”

“Bose…” she turned into his solid chest, seeking solace from his presence. All the while, Tesiera clung protectively on Kracus’s head, unwilling to let go.

“I’m here, sweetheart. We’re all here. Together, we’ll get through this,” Bose’s eyes glistened with unshed tears as he fought to maintain his composure.

“I’m s-scared. I d-don’t know what I’ll do if I loose him.” Then, she disengaged from Bose and lowered her cheek to rest upon Kracus’s, her touch tender and desperate. “I’m t-t-terrified, Kracus. D-Don’t do this to me!!” she wailed with raw anguish.

Big Cat maintained his firm grip on the wound, still applying pressure on it. He shot fierce glares at any of his men who dared approach, silently warning them not to intervene. All of his soldiers had departed, taken away by one of his elite forces. Only a handful of loyal elites remained by his side.

Tesiera’s pain poured out, her tears uncontrollable. “I love you…I love you, baby, please…don’t leave me,” she choked on her words, her voice breaking with each syllable.

The three men exchanged glances filled with sorrow and helplessness.

Words seemed inadequate in the face of the heaviness in their heart, and the profound grief coming from Tesiera. In their shared silence, they all harbored the unspoken fear, the unspoken question of whether Kracus would survive this ordeal.

They had no words to use in trying to calm her, because Tesiera wasn’t naïve, and she was wailing for the same reason they were all too scared to say out loud.

Kracus had slipped into unconsciousness, his life force fading away. They have no idea if he’ll make it out of this alive.
