CHAPTER 14

ESMERALDA’S CHAMBER

“You look good My lady” A maid told her when they finished dressing her up and she smiled.

“Really!!!!!”

“Yes, My lady…..even better than before” Sage complemented her and she stood up smiling.

She checked herself out in the mirror and smiled to herself.

“Perfect”

A guard walked into the chamber bowing to Esmeralda.

“My lady, the emperor wants you in his chamber” He reported and she nods.

“Ok….I’ll be on my way” she muttered.

“She’ll have ignored his highness order right” she thought as her mind went to Aurora.

“You all can go except Sage…” She dispersed the other maids while sage followed her to the emperor’s chamber.

EMP. AUGUSTUS CHAMBER

Esmeralda swept into the emperor’s chambers, her eyes flashing with a creaky smike. The emperor turned to her, his brow furrowed in annoyance.

“Esmeralda?” he growled. “Why did you order my slave to stay away from my chambers tonight?”

Esmeralda’s face was a mask of innocence. “Your highness, I missed you. You haven’t summoned me in so long, and I yearn for your touch. I wanted to be with you tonight.”

The emperor’s expression darkened. “You have no right to dictate what my slave does, Esmeralda. She is mine to command, not yours to control. You will come when I call for you, and not before.”

“But your highness….”

The emperor’s expression turned glacial, his eyes freezing onto Esmeralda’s. “Enough, Esmeralda!!?. My slave is mine to command, not yours to manipulate.”

Esmeralda’s face reddened, her eyes blazing with defiance. “I’m sorry your highness. I am simply tired of being ignored. You have been ignoring me for days now and I’m missing you inside me already”

The emperor’s voice rose, his patience wearing thin. “You are my mistress, privileged to share my bed. Do not forget your place.”

Esmeralda’s protests were cut short immediately “I don’t want to see you here unless I call for you…now out of my suite” he ordered and she clenched her fist tightly.

Esmeralda’s eyes flashed with anger, her lips trembling with rage. But she knew better than to push the emperor further. With a stiff bow, she turned and stormed out of the chamber, her mind seething with resentment.

“I’ll kill that bitch….I swear it” she Mumbled.

11PM~MAIDS QUATERS

Aurora was rolling around her bed as she couldn’t sleep, she turned to see Sage and Jade asleep already but she is finding it hard to get sleep.

She stood up from the bed and walked out of the maids quarters as she walked around the palace.

Her eyes scanned the darkened palace corridors, her heart racing with every creak and groan, as she wandered the empty palace, she felt a sense of unease settling over her.

As she turned a corner, a faint whisper seemed to echo through the halls. “It’s her…it’s her.” The voice was soft, barely audible, but it sent a shiver down Aurora’s spine.

She tried to tell herself it was just the wind or her imagination, but the words seemed to take on a life of their own. They seemed to be drawing her closer, closer to something she couldn’t quite see.

And then, a dark figure came before her. Aurora’s breath caught in her throat as the figure drew closer, its presence suffocating. She tried to run, but her legs felt heavy, wait!!!! What’s happening. She can’t move her legs??

The figure launched over her, its face hidden in the shadows. Aurora’s heart raced, her mind screaming with fear. She was trapped, unable to move or escape.

Just as all hope seemed lost, a strong hand grasped her arm, pulling her away from the spot. A sword flashed in the dim light, banishing the dark spirit. Aurora’s rescuer turned to her, his eyes gleaming in the darkness.

“What are you doing out here” he asked and she moved away.

“It…….nothing, My lord” she bowed her head.

“Are you not supposed to be scared anytime you see me?” Emperor Augustus asked, his voice low and commanding.

Aurora’s eyes widened, her mouth agape. She managed a silent nod before the emperor gestured toward the maids’ quarters. “To your room, now.”

Aurora fled, her heart pounding in her chest. She didn’t dare look back, fearful of what she might see.
