THE CURSE OF ALTVALL : CHAPTER 11 – 20

The Arrival of the Savior

The sky broke open.
Wind tore through the trees of Altvall like a cry from the heavens. Thunder rumbled not with storm—but with the heartbeat of something divine.

In the temple square, where ashes still clung to the altar and the scent of death had become familiar, the air shimmered.

A figure stepped out of the light.
Tall. Cloaked in midnight. Silver eyes glowing like twin moons. His presence silenced birds, stilled fire, and made every man, woman, and child bow without thinking.

Alpha Gaige had arrived.

He walked through the crowd with slow, powerful steps. His boots cracked the stone. His gaze moved from face to face, reading their pain, their fear, and their hope.

A little girl touched his cloak. “Are you… him?” she asked.
Gaige knelt down, his voice deep but gentle. “I am.”

A murmur passed through the crowd. Then—cheers. Tears. People dropped to their knees. The bell rang again, not with grief, but triumph. The baker kissed the dirt. Hunters raised their blades. Mothers hugged their children.

“HE HAS COME!” Aura cried. “THE SAVIOR! THE ANSWER TO OUR CRY!”

But not everyone rejoiced.
Hidden in the shadow of a ruined market stall, a man named Tharin—once a loyal servant of Surganah—shook with fear. He watched the people rise in hope, and it terrified him. Because hope was rebellion. And rebellion brought death.

He slipped away, racing through the woods. Past the Silent Grove. Through the Bone Paths. All the way to the edge of the cursed forest where shadows whispered and the trees grew black.

He found the Stone Fortress and dropped to his knees at the gate.
“Surganah!” he cried. “The One! Forgive me, but I must speak! The Savior has come! Alpha Gaige is here!”

Inside the fortress, Surganah sat in darkness.

He didn’t move. Didn’t speak.
Instead, he turned to the pot.
It bubbled—uneasy.

“Who sent him?” Surganah asked, his voice hoarse.

The pot whispered: “Strange… we did not see him come. The stars are confused. He is not bound to fate as others are. He walks with the strength of the Superior One… and something more.”

Surganah stood, baring his fangs. “Prepare for war.”

The Island trembled.
The forest wept sap like blood. Wolves howled not to the moon, but to death.

Surganah stepped out of the fortress, dressed in blackened armor laced with bones of enemies long dead. The earth seemed to pull away from him as he walked.

And there, in the clearing at the edge of the island—the two Alphas met.

Gaige.

Surganah.

Two giants. Two destinies. One war.
Surganah growled. “You trespass, pup.”

Gaige’s eyes didn’t blink. “I was summoned.”

“By weaklings. Beggars. Filth.”
“By hope,” Gaige replied. “Something you fear.”

The ground cracked beneath them as energy surged from their bodies.

Trees bowed. Lightning struck the ocean. The air grew hot and thick with rage.

Surganah attacked first.

Like a storm, he rushed Gaige—claws slashing, teeth snapping. But Gaige was ready. He moved like water, fluid and fast. Their blows shook the island.

Claw met claw. Fang met flesh.
The battle lasted an hour.
Mountains groaned.
Rivers boiled.
The sky went red.

And then—Surganah faltered. A strike to the ribs. A wound that didn’t heal instantly.

He gasped and staggered back.
Gaige stood tall, chest rising and falling.

“Leave this island,” Gaige warned, “or I’ll bury you beneath it.”

But Surganah only smiled, blood dripping from his lips.

“This is just the beginning.”

Then, in a swirl of black mist—he vanished into the trees.

The people of Altvall cheered that night.

Fires were lit in celebration. Songs were sung for the first time in years. The Savior had come. The Monster had fled.

But deep in the woods, as Surganah lay bleeding inside his fortress, the pot whispered something more.
“He is powerful, yes… but he is not perfect. There is one weakness still. And we shall use it.”

Surganah’s eyes narrowed.

“I’ll break him from the inside.”
