THE CURSE OF ALTVALL : CHAPTER 11 – 20

Fire Beneath The Moon 2

Kael and his rebels arrived like shadows.

Smoke cloaked their advance as they scaled the rear wall of the Execution Grounds.

Arrows whizzed past. One caught Ellan in the thigh. He dropped, screaming, but still passed Kael his dagger.

They found the prisoner cages beneath the stage—a horror show of broken, battered souls.

Lyara was in the last one.

“Lyara!” Reina gasped, slicing through the lock.

The girl looked up, barely alive.

“You’re real.”

“We came for you.”

As Reina lifted her over her shoulders, the pot inside the Stone Fortress howled with wind and thunder.

Then Surganah descended.

From the sky, his blackened wings spread wide. Lightning flashed behind him. The Execution Grounds shook beneath his power. His loyal werewolves—cloaked in bone and ash—surrounded the rebels.

“You think you can touch my kingdom?” Surganah’s voice was deep enough to make the air tremble.

Kael stepped forward, sword raised.

“This kingdom was never yours.”

The battle ignited.

Fire danced on blades.

Arrows flew like curses. Reina slashed at two werewolves, only to be thrown backward by a supernatural force. Kael and Alpha Rador clashed in the center, both men bleeding, both roaring.

But it was Lyara—barely standing—who whispered a final word to Reina: “The sigil. On his chest.”

“The what?”

“That’s where his soul lives. Marked in red ink under his skin. It burns when he’s weak.”

Reina’s eyes flashed.

Surganah stood tall in the chaos, cutting down rebels like grass.

Until Reina leapt.

With every ounce of strength, she drove her blade into the center of his chest.

Surganah screamed.

The wound didn’t kill him—but it burned.

Flames licked from within his skin. He staggered back, roaring in agony.
He vanished in a flash of black smoke—retreating.

Not dead.

But shaken.

The rebels grabbed who they could and ran—dragging Lyara, carrying Ellan, limping, bleeding—but alive.

Back in the caves, Lyara was tended to by a healer.

Kael leaned against the wall, exhausted.

“We struck him,” Reina whispered.

“We hurt him.”

Kael nodded.

“And we made him bleed.”

In the Stone Fortress, Surganah screamed, his chest still smoking. The supernatural pot spun madly, voices echoing.

“You bleed. You burn.”

He slammed his fist into the wall.

“They want war?” he hissed.

“Then let’s show them a war they’ll never survive.”
