THE CURSE OF ALTVALL : CHAPTER 51 – 60

Surganah stood from his throne. “Now you see what I see. Now you know why I’ve chosen him. That boy is more powerful than you or I were at his age. Maybe more powerful than we’ll ever be.”

Surganah’s eyes narrowed.

“Let this be your first and last betrayal. I need your strength, Bard. But cross me again—and I’ll feed your heart to the crows.”

Bard lowered his head, but hatred smoldered in his chest like wildfire.

He would wait. Watch.

And one day, when Jeun was older…stronger…more dangerous…

That’s when Bard would strike again.

And this time, he wouldn’t miss.

A Seed of Blood and Betrayal

Alpha Bard sat in the darkness of his chamber, the fire in the hearth crackling low, casting long shadows that danced across the stone walls like spirits whispering his fate.

He hadn’t slept since the day of the failed attack on Jeun. The image of the child turning to him—those knowing eyes, those eyes that were too ancient for a three-year-old—haunted him.

The force that had flung him against the tower wall still echoed through his bones. But worse than the physical pain was the humiliation.

Audrey had seen him. Surganah had known. And Jeun… Jeun had stopped him. With nothing but a look.

Bard had felt fear in battle before—but this was something else.

It was prophecy.

If he didn’t kill the boy soon, the boy would kill him one day.

And not just him. Everything he had built. Every whisper of power he had clawed his way into. Jeun would burn it all down.

Bard stood and stared at his reflection in a cracked bronze mirror. His yellow eyes gleamed under his thick brows. There was rage in them, yes, but something else too—desperation.

He reached for the heavy iron ring on his desk and turned it twice. A soft click echoed in the room, and a hidden passage opened behind his shelf of war relics. He stepped into the passage, winding down into the underbelly of the fortress.

There, waiting in the dark-lit chamber, were his most loyal followers: Alpha Thorne and Alpha Kelzar. Two beasts of muscle and cunning, both feared even among Surganah’s brutal ranks. Their loyalty wasn’t born of trust, but of shared blood spilled and secrets kept.
