THE CURSE OF ALTVALL : CHAPTER 51 – 60
Kelzar pulled the blade out in shock.
The wound began to pulse. But something was wrong.
The boy was still breathing.
His chest rose and fell. Blood trickled—but not fast enough. Not violently enough. He groaned softly.
Kelzar stared, heart racing. The blade should’ve ended him…
It should have burned him from the inside out. But it didn’t.
And the blade… it had been used. Once. Its power was gone. Another strike would be meaningless. A second use would do nothing—it would be like striking flesh with stone.
Panic surged.
He knelt beside the boy, who was barely conscious, then made a decision that would change everything.
He couldn’t leave the body behind. The others would never believe him if he returned empty-handed. They’d think he hesitated, or worse—betrayed them.
He had to show them. He had to take the child, hide him somewhere, wait for the wound to do what it was supposed to do.
He lifted Jeun in his arms and cloaked him carefully. The child moaned weakly, head resting against his shoulder, breaths shallow but steady.
He moved swiftly through the hidden corridors, taking no chances.

By the time he reached the chamber beneath the fortress, Bard and Thorne were waiting, both eyes filled with anticipation.
Kelzar entered and laid the small body on the altar slab in the center of the room.
Their expressions shifted from triumph—to confusion—to fear.
“He’s alive,” Thorne said flatly, as if his eyes deceived him.
Bard rushed forward. “What do you mean alive?”
“He’s breathing,” Kelzar replied, sweat glistening on his brow. “The blade struck him. I swear it.
The venom should be inside him now. But… he’s not dying. He’s just weak. Something is holding him back, but not killing him.”
