Ryder felt a lump form in his throat. He couldn’t imagine living a life like that.

“What about the punishment she faces, like the thunderstorms?” Ryder askef.

“That’s to remind her that she hasn’t fulfilled her destiny.”His grandfather said.

Ryder’s eyes widened in horror. “That’s cruel,” he said, his voice filled with emotion.

His grandfather nodded. “Yes, and I think things are about to get even crueler because of you.” He said.

“I won’t sit and watch, Grandpa. I’ll do something to make it right. All of this is my fault.” He said.

“We’ll see, Ryder. We’ll see.” his grandfather said.

Maledicta’s eyes were fixed on Kaiden’s pale face, her heart racing with worry. She had been beside him all day, and he hadn’t even opened his eyes.

She was starting to get anxious, wondering what if it took a long time before he woke up. How would she cope with that?

Just as she was about to panic, Kaiden’s eyes flickered open, and a weak smile spread across his handsome face as he saw her.

Maledicta’s heart skipped a beat as she felt a wave of relief wash over her.

“Are you okay?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Kaiden nodded, his smile growing slightly wider. “I’m fine,” he said, his voice weak but reassuring.

Maledicta’s eyes scanned his face, searching for any signs of discomfort. “You must be hungry,” she said. “What do you want to eat?”

Kaiden’s eyes drifted closed, and he shook his head slightly. “I just want to bathe,” he muttered. “I don’t like how my body feels.”

Maledicta nodded, her heart going out to him. “I’ll help, okay?” she said, and with a wave of her hand, they appeared in the bathtub immediately.

Maledicta stood beside the tub, gently washing Kaiden’s body with a soft sponge. Kaiden closed his eyes, a look of relaxation washing over his face as he let out a soft sigh.

As Maledicta continued to wash him, she asked, “Do you know what happened?”

Kaiden’s eyes flickered open, and he looked up at her. “I don’t know,” he said. “But I felt really weird. I’m just glad you’re alright. I would never have forgiven myself if something had happened to you.” He said.

Maledicta smiled, her heart warming at his words. “You know I can take care of myself,” she said. “So stop worrying about me.”

Kaiden’s eyes locked onto hers, his expression serious. “I can never do that,” he said. “I promise to protect you forever.”

Maledicta’s heart skipped a beat at his words, and she felt a rush of emotion. She leaned in, her lips meeting Kaiden’s in a soft, gentle kiss. Kaiden reciprocated immediately, deepening the kiss as they lost themselves in each other.

As they pulled away, Kaiden climbed out of the bathtub, his trousers dripping wet from the water. He scooped Maledicta up in his arms and carried her to the bed, his movements swift and effortless.

Maledicta was shocked at how quickly Kaiden had regained his strength. He took off his trousers and climbed on top of her, his lips tracing a path from her mouth to her neck, where he gave her sweet, gentle bites.
