The students who were watching from their windows gasped in shock, their eyes wide with amazement. They had never seen anything like this before. Who was this boy who had just rushed out into the rain to help Maledicta?
Cassius’s fist was clenched as he watched the scene unfold. Before he knew it, he was storming out of his room, his eyes fixed on Kaiden.
Benedicta, on the other hand, was watching with mixed emotions. She looked concerned, but also a little angry.
As Kaiden shook Maledicta’s body, she stirred and started shivering. He picked her up and started walking away, but then he saw Cassius behind him.
“Give her to me,” Cassius said, his arm extended.
“I can carry her,” Kaiden replied.
Cassius’s expression turned cold. “It’s not about that. You’re supposed to be in your room. You’re an ordinary, powerless human. Something could happen to you.”
And with that, Cassius snatched Maledicta from Kaiden’s grip and started walking away.
Kaiden watched until they were out of sight before turning to go back to his room.
As soon as he walked in, Ryder turned to him, a look of amazement on his face.
“How did you do that?” Ryder asked, his eyes scanning Kaiden’s body. “Did you have some sort of power?”
Kaiden scoffed, still feeling a little angry about what Cassius had done.
“What are you talking about?” He asked.
Ryder’s eyes locked onto Kaiden’s. “I think you stopped the rain.” He said.
“That’s impossible. How would I do that?”Kaiden laughed.
Ryder’s expression turned serious. “I don’t know, but I’ve never seen anything like it. You didn’t even get wet.”
Kaiden shook his head. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Ryder started checking Kaiden’s body, his hands scanning his arms and chest.
“What’s the problem?” Ryder asked, his brow furrowed in concern.
Kaiden sighed. “You didn’t find anything because there’s nothing to find. I’m just an ordinary human.”
Ryder’s eyes narrowed. “But that’s the thing. You’re not acting like an ordinary human. You just did something that three other people have tried before, and they all ended up getting hurt.”
Kaiden’s eyes widened in surprise. “What do you mean?”
Ryder took a deep breath. “Mistress Morwen tried to help Maledicta once, but she almost died. She spent a week unconscious. Cassius tried too, and he spent a month recovering. And Benedicta…she almost spent three months in bed.” He said.
Kaiden’s eyes were wide with shock. “And nothing happened to me?”
Ryder shook his head. “No, nothing happened to you. And that’s what’s so shocking. You’re an ordinary human with no powers,I can’t even feel any energy and yet you just did something that none of us could do.” He said.
Kaiden didn’t respond, but he couldn’t help but think about why his case was different. Was it just luck, or was there something more to it?. He lay on the bed, his eyes closed, he couldn’t stop thinking.

Cassius gently laid Maledicta on his bed, her body still shivering from the effects of the thunder strike. He quickly lit up the room, making sure it was warm and cozy, and covered her with his thick blankets.
As he looked at her, he noticed that she was running a fever, her skin cracked and dry from the electricity that had coursed through her body. She was sweating profusely, but at the same time, she was shivering, her body burning hot but still feeling cold.
Cassius’s expression turned concerned as he sat down beside the bed. He began to wipe her sweat, using a cloth to gently pat her dry. The container he was using to catch her sweat was almost full, and he had to empty it several times throughout the night.
As he cared for Maledicta, Cassius couldn’t help but feel a sense of tenderness towards her. He had always been drawn to her, despite her prickly exterior, and now, as he looked at her pale, dry face, he felt a surge of protectiveness towards her.
He held her hand, trying to share his body heat with her, and slowly but surely, she began to relax. Her shivering subsided, and her fever began to break.
