THE MISTRESS’ DAUGHTER : CHAPTER 41 – 50

Mistress Morwen called after her, but Benedicta didn’t listen. She just kept walking, her heart heavy with anger and hurt.

As she walked away, Mistress Morwen sighed sadly.

“What’s wrong with her?” she muttered to herself.

Aka stepped into the motel room, her eyes scanning the space with a mixture of disdain and boredom. The two guards standing at the door nodded at her, their faces expressionless.

Aka’s gaze lingered on them for a moment before she turned away, her mind preoccupied with more pressing matters. She had been searching for Kaiden, but he seemed to have vanished into thin air. It was infuriating, especially since she had plans for both him.

As she walked over to the window, she heard the sound of laughter and music drifting from outside. She pulled back the curtain, and her eyes narrowed as she took in the scene below.

A group of children were dancing in the street, their faces alight with joy. They carried baskets of flowers, which they tossed into the air, creating a colorful spectacle. The atmosphere was festive, and Aka’s anger grew as she watched.

Her fists clenched, and her eyes flashed with fury. How dare they be so happy, so carefree, when she was suffering? When she didn’t have a father because of them.

Aka’s gaze dropped to the handkerchief in her hand, and her expression softened. It was a delicate, lace-trimmed square of fabric, with intricate embroidery that seemed to shimmer in the dim light.

She remembered her father giving it to her, his eyes filled with love and kindness. “I made this for you, Aka,” he had said. “Always remember me when you look at it.”

Aka’s eyes had shone with tears as she hugged her father tightly. “Thank you, Dad,” she had whispered. “It’s so beautiful.”

But now, as she stared at the handkerchief, Aka’s feelings were far from beautiful. She felt a deep-seated anger, a sense of betrayal and hurt.

“You’re all happy after giving me pain,” she spat, her voice venomous. She folded the handkerchief, her hands shaking with rage.

Aka closed her eyes and began to chant. The words were low and husky, and they seemed to vibrate with a dark, malevolent energy.

As she spoke, the air around her seemed to grow colder, the shadows deepening and twisting into grotesque forms. And then, in a flash of sulfurous smoke, a demon appeared before her.

It was a hideous creature, with twisted horns and scales that seemed to ripple like living flame. Aka’s eyes snapped open, and she gazed at the demon with a cold, calculating gaze.

“Make this night a nightmare for them all,” she whispered, her voice dripping with malice.

The demon bowed, its eyes glowing with an otherworldly energy. And then, in an instant, it vanished, leaving Aka alone in the darkness.

Aka lay down on the bed, the handkerchief clutched tightly to her chest. She felt a sense of satisfaction. Tonight, she would unleash her wrath upon the city, and no one would be spared.

Ryder was in the middle of explaining the history of the festival when he noticed Kaiden’s attention start to wander. He stopped mid-sentence, his eyes narrowing slightly as he studied Kaiden’s expression.

“What’s wrong?” Ryder asked, his voice tinged with concern.

Kaiden forced a smile onto his face. “It’s nothing.”

Ryder’s eyes searched Kaiden’s face, as if trying to read his thoughts. “Is it because I kept secrets from you? I’m so sorry, Kaiden.” He said.

Kaiden shook his head, feeling a pang of guilt. “That’s not it, Ryder. Maybe I’m just tired.”

Ryder nodded understandingly. “Sleep then. Should I stay with you?” He asked.

Kaiden smiled again, “Don’t worry, I’ll be okay alone.” He said.

Ryder nodded and stood up, “Get some rest then. I’ll see you tomorrow.” He said and left.
