As soon as Ryder left, Kaiden felt his mind start to wander again. He couldn’t stop thinking about Maledicta, wondering what she was doing alone in the school. Was she sad? Had she eaten?
He tossed and turned on the bed, unable to shake off the feeling of unease.
Just as he was starting to drift off to sleep, he heard a knock at the door. He sat up,He got out of bed and padded to the door, opening it to reveal Maledicta standing in the do moo r. She looked a little disheveled, her hair messy and her eyes wild.She launched herself at him, wrapping her arms around his waist and holding him tightly.
Kaiden was taken aback by the ferocity of her hug, but he quickly recovered, wrapping his arms around her and holding her close.
“How did you get here?” he asked, his voice muffled by her hair.
Maledicta muttered something incoherent, her voice barely audible.
Kaiden pulled back, studying her face. She looked a little wild-eyed, her pupils dilated.
“Maledicta, what’s wrong?” he asked, his voice soft with concern.
Maledicta’s eyes focused on his, “I couldn’t stop thinking about you, Kaiden. I miss you so much.” She said.
“How did you know I am here?” He asked.
“The voices told Me” she said.
Kaiden smile and he pulled her close again. “I miss you too, Maledicta. So much.” He said.
He pulled back, studying her face.
“So, are you going to the festival with me?” he asked.
Maledicta nodded, “Yes, I am.” She said.
Kaiden grinned, feeling elated. He hugged her tightly again and both couldn’t stop smiling.

“Are you going to stay here with me?” Kaiden asked after some minutes of silence.
Maledicta shook her head. “No, I need to see my mum first. I’ll find you tomorrow, okay?”
Kaiden smiled while staring at her, his eyes filled with affection. He almost thought of kissing her, but changed his mind when he remembered how she stopped him the other night.
“I should go,” Maledicta said, releasing herself from his grip.
Kaiden watched as she vanished into thin air, a large smile still plastered on his face. He lay on his bed.His mind was finally at peace, and he soon fell asleep, dreaming of Maledicta and the festival they would attend together.
Meanwhile, Mistress Morwen was about to enter her room when Maledicta suddenly appeared in front of her. She was shocked to see her daughter standing there.
“What’s going on? Did something happen in school?” Mistress Morwen asked worriedly.
Maledicta shook her head. “No, mum, I’m here for the festival.”
Mistress Morwen’s eyes widened in shock. “Did you mean it?” she asked, her voice trembling with excitement.
“Have I ever joke?”Maledicta scoffed.
Mistress Morwen suddenly pulled Maledicta into a deep hug, her heart beaming with joy.
“You don’t know how much I’m thrilled to hear that from you. Don’t worry, no one will ever find out.” She said.
Maledicta rolled her eyes, feeling a little uncomfortable with the sudden display of affection.
“Stop being dramatic,” she said, releasing herself from her mother’s grip.
