THE MISTRESS’ DAUGHTER : CHAPTER 41 – 50

As they entered the grand hall, Kaiden’s eyes nearly popped out of his head. The hall was filled with people, all dressed in their finest clothes. The king and queen sat at the top of the hall, surrounded by the Alpha, Beta, and Luna, as well as the ministers.

Princess Belladonna sat in the middle of Alpha Prince Thane and Cassius, her bright smile lighting up the hall. Cassius, on the other hand, looked like he’d rather be anywhere else, his eyes fixed on some point across the hall, Thane smile at Belladonna and she return it immediately.

“You are supposed to be there with Them” Kaiden said.

“I told you I hate attention, I am not ready for all this now” he grinned.

Benedicta entered the hall, her eyes scanning the crowd as she searched for Kaiden. She was relieved to have lost Maledicta in the crowd, not wanting to be seen with her weird sister.

As she spotted Ryder and Kaiden, she adjusted her hair and made her way over to them, a bright smile plastered on her face.

A huge sculpture of their goddess was pushed into the hall, and the crowd erupted into cheers. The sculpture was breathtakingly beautiful, with golden long hair and eyes that seemed to shine like diamonds.

A flower crown adorned her head, and a delicate garland encircled her waist. The crowd bowed low, receiving blessings from their priest.

Aka slipped into the hall, her eyes fixed on the sculpture with a burning intensity. She looked like she wanted to destroy it, her face twisted with anger.

As the blessing ended, the crowd threw flowers into the air, and the hall erupted into music and laughter. People began to dance, twirling and spinning to the rhythm.

Kaiden watched in amazement, feeling like he’d stumbled into a dream world. Ryder grinned at him, pulling him into the dance.

As they twirled and spun, Kaiden felt a sense of freedom he’d never experienced before. He was caught up in the magic of the moment, surrounded by people who seemed to accept him for who he was.

But as he glanced around the hall, he caught sight of Maledicta standing alone, her facemask glinting in the light. She looked like a ghost, a haunting presence that seemed to hover on the edges of the celebration.

Kaiden’s heart went out to her, and he felt a pang of guilt for not seeking her out earlier. He made a mental note to find her later, to make sure she was okay.

The group walked through the crowded streets, taking in the sights and sounds of the celebration. Kaiden’s eyes scanned the crowd, his brow furrowed in concentration.

“Are you looking for someone?” Benedicta asked, her voice low and husky. She had been following him around, her eyes fixed on him with an unnerving intensity.

Kaiden quickly shook his head. “No, I’m just enjoying the view.”

Benedicta’s smile never wavered, but her eyes seemed to narrow slightly. “I see,” she said.

Just then, someone touched Kaiden’s arm, and he turned to see a girl wearing a mask. He didn’t need to be told who it was – he knew instinctively.

“You’re here,” he said, his face breaking out into a wide smile.

Ryder, who had been walking beside Kaiden, looked at the masked girl with curiosity.

“Who is this?” he asked.

“She’s a friend from school.”Kaiden smiled.

Ryder nodded, his eyes friendly. “Nice to meet you.”

The masked girl didn’t respond, and Kaiden quickly intervened.

“She doesn’t like talking,” he explained.

Ryder’s smile faltered for a moment, but he quickly recovered. “Oh, okay.”
