THE MISTRESS’ DAUGHTER : CHAPTER 61 – 70

Maledicta snuggled deeper into Kaiden’s arm, feeling a sense of comfort and security she had never experienced before. Kaiden started caressing her hair, his touch sending shivers down her spine.

“Thank you for accepting me last night,” he said, his voice low and husky.

Maledicta smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. But her smile disappeared as quickly as it had appeared, and she suddenly turned away from Kaiden.

“What’s wrong?” Kaiden asked gently, turning her to face him.

Maledicta’s eyes dropped, and she stared at the floor. “I could really be bad for you, Kaiden. I don’t deserve to have people around me.” She said.

Kaiden’s expression turned concerned. “What are you talking about? I was made to be by your side.” He said.

Maledicta’s eyes flashed with a mixture of pain and guilt.

“You don’t understand. I had a friend ten years ago. Her name was Amaya. She was a beautiful fairy. I ignored her at first, but she didn’t give up. She became my first-ever friend. I was so happy to have someone to talk to.” She started gently.

Maledicta’s voice cracked, and she paused, taking a deep breath before continuing.

“Then something happened one night. I was unconscious, and by the time I woke up, Amaya’s dead body was beside me. My hand was filled with blood. I killed her, my only friend.” She said.

Kaiden’s eyes widened in shock. “You can’t say that. You’re not sure if you killed her.” He said.

Maledicta’s expression turned bleak. “I did. It was obvious.I couldn’t even cry after her death, people see me as heartless beast So, you still have a chance to stay away.” She said.

“I’m not staying away. I’m your pill, remember? You can’t live without me.” Kaiden said.

Maledicta laughed, a hint of sadness still lingering in her eyes. The two of them shared a deep, passionate kiss, their lips locked together.

Their kiss was interrupted by a knock on the door.

“Maledicta, I know you’re in there. Open this door now!” Belladonna’s voice came from outside.

Maledicta and Kaiden sprang out of bed, their eyes wide with alarm.

“Why aren’t you saying anything” Belladonna voice came again.

“Why is she here this early?” Kaiden asked his eyes widen. Maledicta quickly closed her eyes and started chanting some words.

“I am coming in” Belladonna said and started opening the door.

Kaiden disappeared, and Belladonna entered the room, a smirk on her face.

“Are you hiding something?” she asked, her eyes scanning the room.

Maledicta took a deep breath, her expression calm and composed. “No, what are you doing here?” She asked.

Belladonna’s smirk grew wider. “We’re friends, and we haven’t talked for a day. Don’t you miss me?” He asked.

“I don’t.” Maledicta muttered plainly.

Belladonna’s grin faltered for a moment before she recovered. “You’re so honest. Hurry up and take your bath.

You’re eating breakfast at the hall today, and then you’ll train the juniors. They need to know you’re not as scary as they thought.” She said and started pushing her toward the bathroom.

“You look sad. What’s wrong with you?” Maledicta suddenly asked.

Belladonna’s grin returned, but it looked forced this time.

“Wow, are you worried about me?” She smile trying to hide her sadness.

“Just forget I asked you.” Maledicta said and enter the bathroom leaving Belladonna alone in the room.

The smile on Belladonna’s face disappeared, and she looked like she was about to cry. But she refrained herself, taking a deep breath to compose herself.

As she stood there, she couldn’t help but think about what Cassius had told her. She felt a pang of sadness and regret, but she pushed it aside, not wanting to dwell on it.
