THE MISTRESS’ DAUGHTER : CHAPTER 71 – 80

Maledicta walked back from the lake, the moon casting a silver glow over the tranquil water. She loved spending time alone there, finding solace in the peaceful atmosphere. But as the night wore on, she knew she had to return to her room.

Most students have already retied to their room since the dangers of staying out late were well-known.

As she walked, the trees seemed to loom over her, casting long, ominous shadows on the ground, as she was getting near her room.

Suddenly, Benedicta appeared in front of her, her face twisted in anger.

“I told you to stay away from him, but you went ahead and made him yours. How could you?” she yelled, her voice echoing through the night air.

“He was mine from the start, so don’t make me look like the bad one.” Maledicta muttered coldly and started to leave.

Benedicta’s anger seemed to boil over, and she blocked Maledicta’s path.

“You could kill him like you killed Amaya. Have you ever thought about that?” she spat, her eyes blazing with hatred.

Maledicta’s face remained calm, but her voice took on a cold tone. “No matter how I think about it, I don’t think I killed her. So get out of my way.” She said.

Benedicta’s smile was like a crack in a mask, revealing the venom beneath. “You will regret this.” She said.

And with that, she hit Maledicta hard on the chest. Maledicta gasped, feeling a burning sensation spread from her heart to her entire body.

“What did you do?” Maledicta asked, gripping her chest in pain.

Benedicta’s laughter was like a cold wind,

“It’s what you’re thinking. You’ve consumed Red Flame,( A deadly poison made from red-hot volcano lava and Snakes venom)I put it in the drink I gave you yesterday.” Benedicta said.

Maledicta’s eyes widened in horror as she realized the truth. “You…you poisoned me?”

Benedicta’s smile grew wider. “I’ve been expecting the symptoms to start since morning, but it must be because of your power that you lasted till evening. Maybe if I hadn’t hit you, it could have started tomorrow.” Benedicta smile.

Maledicta’s vision began to blur, and she felt herself falling to the ground. She groaned and grunted as the pain became unbearable, her insides feeling like they were on fire.

Benedicta’s laughter echoed through the night air, a cold, mirthless sound.

“You will regret this.” Maledicta groan.

“I won’t, you can’t even heal yourself” Benedicta said.

As Maledicta lay on the ground, writhing in agony, she saw some student approaching and Benedicta’s expression changed. She started faking tears, her voice trembling as she called out for help.

“Please, help my sister!” she yelled, her eyes scanning the surrounding area for any sign of witnesses.

Some students approached, their faces filled with concern.

“I think she was poisoned with Red Flame,” Benedicta said, her voice laced with worry. As they get closer.

The students exchanged nervous glances, their faces paling at the mention of the deadly poison. Red Flame was notorious for its contagious nature; one could fall victim simply by touching the infected.

“Call Mistress Morwen,” Benedicta instructed, her eyes fixed on Maledicta’s struggling form.

One of the students ran off to fetch the mistress, while the others kept their distance, fearful of contracting the poison.
