THE MISTRESS’ DAUGHTER : CHAPTER 81 – 90

Cassius felt his heart shatter into a million pieces as he looked at Belladonna’s tear-stained face. He knew he had hurt her, and he didn’t know how to make it right.

“I’m sorry, Bella,I don’t know what came over me. I just…I act without thinking sometimes, Cass was is at me too, he refused to talk to me since the day you accepted my rejection” he said gently.

Belladonna’s eyes filled with tears again, and Cassius knew he had to let her go. He released his grip on her hand, and she quickly turned and ran away, leaving Cassius standing alone, feeling like the biggest fool in the world.

“I’m so stupid,” he muttered to himself, his eyes fixed on the spot where Belladonna had disappeared.

“Now I’ve hurt her again.” he said sadly.

Lilith stepped into the senior section of the library, the soft glow of the lanterns casting a warm light over the rows of ancient tomes. She had been looking forward to a quiet evening alone, hoping to clear her head and shake off the lingering thoughts of Thane.

But as she turned a corner, her heart skipped a beat. Thane was already there, sitting at a table with a book open in front of him. Lilith’s first instinct was to turn and run, but Thane was too quick. He looked up, his eyes locking onto hers, and he was out of his seat in an instant.

Before Lilith could react, Thane had grabbed her hand, his fingers wrapping around her wrist like a vice.

“Are you planning to start avoiding me because of what happened?” he asked, his voice low and husky.

Lilith’s face grew hot as she tried to pull her hand free.

“I should do that,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

“It shouldn’t have happened, Thane. You’ll find your mate soon, and I’ll be left heartbroken.” She added gently.

Thane’s eyes narrowed, his grip on her hand tightening. “Is that what you’re worried about?” he asked, his voice gentle.

Lilith nodded, feeling a lump form in her throat. “Not only that, Thane. We shouldn’t let things get out of hand.” She said.

Thane’s expression turned thoughtful, and he released her hand.

“You don’t have to avoid me because of what happened, Let’s just forget it never happened if that’s what will make you happy.” He said.

Lilith’s eyes widened in surprise. She hadn’t expected Thane to accept easily.

“You…okay then,” she stammered.

Thane nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. “I’m off, then. Have fun here alone.” He said.

He turned and walked away, leaving Lilith feeling confused and a little hurt. She watched him go, her eyes fixed on his retreating back with mixed emotions.

“How could she regret our kiss?” Thane scoffed angrily to himself as he walked away. He couldn’t understand why Lilith would regret something that had felt so right.

He shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts. He knew he had to respect Lilith’s boundaries, but it was hard when all he wanted to do was pull her into his arms and kiss her again.

The Palanquin finally arrive in school and Arachne came out immediately.

“Won’t you at least say something?” Ryder asked Arachne as they stepped out of the palanquin.

“I have nothing to say to you,” Arachne said, her voice cold and detached. With that, she stormed off, leaving Ryder standing alone.

Ryder let out a deep sigh, his shoulders sagging in frustration. He shook his head, muttering to himself before heading towards his room.

Arachne, on the other hand, was still walking, her feet carrying to her room.

As she turned a corner, she suddenly heard her name being called. She stopped in her tracks, turning to face the speaker. Her eyes widened in surprise as she took in the sight of Maledicta standing before her.

“You know me and my name too?” Arachne asked, her voice tinged with curiosity.
