Hazel grabbed her bag and started walking away. Xavier had to run after her.

“Hazel, wait!” He grabbed her arm and pulled her to himself.

“Why should I wait? What lies do you want to tell me?” Hazel yelled.

“Hazel, why do you keep acting like I have lied to you before? I never lied or hid anything from you. I understand that you’ve felt betrayed for years because of that recording, but can’t you trust me for once!” Xavier yelled back.

“A random lady comes out of nowhere and you believe her over me, how does that make any sense?”

“It does! how could you be single for 10 years? It makes no sense!”

“I am single because nothing has gone right in my life and I lost the only woman who made me happy, that’s why!” Xavier retorted.

“He’s lying, he’s my boyfriend!” The woman yelled and walked to them.

“You should be ashamed of yourself for being with him!” The woman said to Hazel.

Hazel looked at her and asked, “What year did you meet Xavier?”

The woman was taken aback by the question for a second.

“You can’t answer it,” Hazel gasped.

“We met ten years ago,” the woman blurted out, unable to think of something else.

“Ten years ago,” Hazel laughed dryly. “What month, what day?”

The woman got more agitated and yelled, “None of your business,”

“Xavier, hold my bag,” Hazel gave her bag to him. “Hold my jacket too,” She gave him her jacket.

She walked to the woman and without thinking twice, she slapped her face hard.

Hazel grabbed her hair afterward and pulled her to the floor. She sat on her and started slapping her face horribly.

Xavier and others in the restaurant tried stopping Hazel, but it was hard. Hazel was so angry, she took it out on the woman. She beat her so badly that an ambulance was called.

“Hazel, please stop,” Xavier hugged her to himself, trapping her with his hands.

Xavier and Hazel were taking a brief walk. There were no guards because Hazel was rich, but not famous. Xavier only found out about her because he was searching for a job. Anyways, Xavier was there to protect her.

“I’m sorry,” Hazel apologized. “I just…find it hard to…”

“To trust me,” Xavier stopped walking.

“I was devastated when Lily played that recording, then had me råped and thrown into a river. I felt betrayed and had so much hate for years, learning that all my pain was in vain because you didn’t do anything makes me empty,” Hazel sighed.

“So, you’re looking for an opportunity to punish me?” Xavier raised his brows at her.

“I don’t know…I just find it hard to let go of my hate,” Hazel sighed.

Xavier reached for her hand and smiled, “I understand you…but you’ve got to find a spot deep in your heart to forgive me for any way I ruined your life, especially with sister Mary and the others,”

“You miss them, right?”

Hazel nodded,” When I visited, the orphanage wasn’t there anymore. Sister Mary and others had been transferred and at that time, I didn’t have the money to go to their locations,”

“I was in a coma for some months and woke up to see this poor and toxic fisherman who saved me. He allowed me to there go once and stopped me from going again because he didn’t have money to waste…” Hazel sighed.

“I kind of trusted him because he saved, but after having sěx with me, he sold me off to someone else. My ex-husband was the one who bought me and brought me here. He was nice and sweet at first and I even went to school. I started forgetting my sufferings until we got married and he started showing his true colors,”

“He would beat, assault and starve me. He used to make me sleep with his partners or people who wanted to give him contracts. I was an object to him and I hated you for everything I went through, until one day, I killed him,” Hazel confessed.

Xavier’s eyes widened in shock.

“I tricked him into putting everything in my name and then I poisoned him. I planned that for years,” Hazel sighed. “It has been hard to trust people since then, especially you. I’m sorry but it’s not as easy as you think,”

“I know, but we can take baby steps and try to trust each other,” Xavier uttered, his eyes filled with sympathy.

He couldn’t believe that his innocent Hazel had become so broken.

“Hazel, I’m sorry,” Xavier held her face. “I shouldn’t have gotten involved with you, but I’m also not sorry because I love you a lot. I never stopped thinking about you and hoping that I would see you one day,”

Hazel’s eyes filled with tears and she nodded.

“I’ll help you heal. We will be fine,” Xavier smiled.

“We will be fine,” Hazel repeated and her tears fell even though she tried fighting them back.

“I’ll warm your cold heart and break every wall around it, but I promise not to break your trust,” Xavier promised.

Hazel nodded gently and kissed his lips.

“Sorry for spilling water on you,” Hazel apologized.

“It’s okay, it was quite refreshing,” Xavier grinned and she laughed.

“Good night,” Xavier unbuckled the seat belt and kissed her lips.

“Good night,” Hazel smiled, genuinely.

Xavier nodded and came out of her car. He waved at her and walked to his house.

Hazel drove off when he walked through his gate.

Xavier went into the house and was stunned to see his mother held by a hefty man with a gun to her temple.

Someone pushed him from behind and the person turned out to be Russo.

“You!” Xavier turned to look at him.

Russo brought out a gun and pointed it at him.

“Leave Hazel alone or your mother and you will say your last prayer, which do you choose?” Russo growled.

(Blast)
Xavier looked at his mother and panicked.

“Why do I have to pick between any of them?” Xavier snapped, gritting his teeth.

Russo snarled and placed the gun on his head.

“I don’t have time to repeat myself, you’ve got 10 seconds to make your decision,”

“1,2,3…”

Xavier was distraught. He couldn’t lose Hazel again and he couldn’t sacrifice his mother either. He needed them both.

“7,8,9,”

“10!” the door suddenly flung open and Hazel’s voice echoed. “No one told me that there was a party going on,” Hazel laughed and shot straight at the one holding Xavier’s mother’s head.

The others wanted to shoot her, but Russo stopped them.

“Hazel,” Russo chuckled in surprise and faced her.

“When you want to attack someone next time, you should take a less noticeable car,” Hazel said with a smirk.

Russo was impressed by her observation but he didn’t like that she had come to save Xavier.

“What do you even see in him?” Russo asked with a displeased look on his face.

“I see his love and care. I see a good heart and not a rotten soul like yours. I have always loved him with my all heart and I’ll continue loving him,” Hazel confessed.

Xavier smiled at her words and comforted Mrs Lee who had run into his arms.

“I’m not leaving here until I kill him,” Russo insisted.

“If you touch a single hair on his head, I’ll kill you and these imbeciles. You don’t want to see my other side,” Hazel snarled.

“Show me your other side” Russo sneered.

Within a second Hazel shot another guy in the head, the last guy was frightened.

“Russo, you’ll be the next if you don’t leave,” Hazel threatened with a frown.

Russo saw how serious she was and he decided to leave.

“Fine, I’ll go,” He lowered his gun and smiled at her.

“Then go!” Hazel insisted.

“Alright,” Russo kept his gun under his shirt and began walking towards her.

Hazel refused to lower her gun until he departed with the last one standing.

“Xavier, are you okay?” Hazel asked, rushing to them.

She ran her hands on his face.

“I’m fine,” Xavier smiled at her.

“Mrs Lee, I hope he didn’t hurt you,” Hazel questioned and received a positive nod from her.

“Good,” Hazel nodded, letting out a sigh.

“Thank you for saving us, Hazel,” Xavier appreciated her.

“My pleasure,” Hazel smiled and kissed his lips.

Mrs Lee watched as they kissed passionately and she smiled. She was happy to see them together.

“You know when I said that I’d prefer killing you than letting you be with someone else,” The door flung open and Russo was standing there, talking.

“I came to fulfill my words, Mia Cara,” Russo smirked and threw a bomb into the sitting room.

He removed the key from the door and quickly locked them inside.

“A bomb,” Mrs Lee trembled.

“The door can’t get locked from the outside, the keyhole isn’t working—”

Before he could complete his sentence, Hazel rushed to where the bomb was and she grabbed it.

She went to the door and it opened like Xavier had said. She dashed outside and luckily Russo didn’t lock the gate.

She dashed through the gate and ran after Russo, only 20 seconds were remaining in the bomb. She spotted Russo and that last guy, then she smirked.

“Russo, you’ll be the only one to die tonight!” Hazel yelled and threw the bomb at them.

As she ran for safety, the bomb exploded, scattering Russo’s body and the man with him.

Meanwhile, Hazel was on the ground with her ears covered.

“Hazel,” She heard Xavier’s voice after some seconds.

Hazel lifted her head and smiled at him.

“Hey, bad boy,”

Xavier helped her from the floor and scolded, “What were you thinking when you grabbed the bomb like that? Do you think this is a movie?”

“No, this is my life and I’ll choose who lives and dies. Now, let’s get inside before your neighbors who are already opening their windows start coming out,” Hazel said, glad about the small bomb only breaking some fences and not actual houses.

“Hazel, don’t ever do that again,” Xavier said agitatedly and cupped her cheeks. He almost fainted when he saw her pick the bomb like some martyr.

“I’ll do it again if anyone tries to hurt you. You are mine, Xavier. You’re mine!” Hazel snickered and smashed her lips on his.

“Mine…”
