A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL : CHAPTER 51 – 60
Minutes passed in silence, the kind that stretched endlessly, making me painfully aware of every breath, every beat of my heart. Every now and then, I’d steal another glance at him. His face, so perfectly serene, unnerved me. He didn’t look dangerous. He looked… almost human.
But he wasn’t. Am not even sure what he is, I can say Lucien is human since the stun gun works on him but Lucifer, he gives the aura that is so not human, or am i just attracted to him?
Is obvious I want to kiss him but not more than that, I mean… Who wouldn’t, look at his lips.
” You’re funny ” he open his eyes and look at me, while smiling” you just need to ask ” I watch his gaze lower to my lips then back to my face which made my cheeks burn.
Why does it feel like he reads my thoughts? ” What do you mean?” Averting my gaze, the car fell back into silence, he said nothing else
Finally, the car slowed to a stop. I blinked, confused. We weren’t anywhere near the mansion. I leaned forward slightly, trying to get a better look outside, and my heart nearly stopped.
We were in front of my aunt’s house.
I turned to Lucifer, his eyes still closed, and asked, “Why aren’t you taking me to your mansion?”
He didn’t move at first, and I wondered if I had overstepped, but then his eyes slowly opened, fixing on me.
His expression remained calm, as if he had been expecting the question. “You’re not an object, Selene,” he replied smoothly, his voice low and collected. “I’m not just going to take you and keep you like some possession.”
The calmness in his words unsettled me, but it was the truth behind them that made my heart skip a beat. There was more to this man—or whatever he was—than I could begin to understand.
I hesitated before speaking again, a question that had been gnawing at me since we left Liam’s house. “Then why did you take me from Liam’s place?”
At that, his expression changed. His brows drew together ever so slightly, the faintest shadow of a frown crossing his face. Before I could process it, he leaned in closer, his presence overwhelming, their gaze fixed on mine.
“Do you fancy your friend?” His words were sharp, almost dangerous.
I blinked, taken aback by the sudden shift in his demeanor. “He’s more like family,” I answered honestly, though my voice trembled under the intensity of his stare.
Lucifer’s lips curled into a faint smile, but there was something darker behind it. “Stay away from him.”
I swallowed hard. “Why?”
“It displeases me to see you in another man’s house,” he said, his voice soft but filled with weight. His eyes flicked down to my shirt . “And to think… you were even wearing his clothes.”
I opened my mouth to respond, feeling the need to explain. “Oh, that was nothing. I was just—”
“Go home, Selene,” he cut me off gently, leaning back in his seat as if the conversation was over. His eyes softened as he gave a small smile, his tone once again calm. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
His words left no room for argument. I felt my throat tighten, the weight of his command sinking into me.
I wanted to say something, anything, but the words wouldn’t come. I glanced at the door, realizing this was it. He wasn’t going to take me to his mansion tonight. He was letting me go… for now.
With trembling hands, I reached for the door handle, hesitating before stepping out. I turned back to look at him one more time, searching his face for some kind of explanation. But Lucifer simply watched me, his calm, unreadable expression still in place.
The door clicked shut behind me, and I stood on the pavement, staring at my aunt’s house as the limo pulled away into the night.
I was home. But his words echoed in my mind, sending a chill down my spine.
*I’ll see you tomorrow.*
He is really a strange man.
The moment I step in, the view made my legs forget it’s fiction, I stare at my aunt and cousin body scattered all over the place, blood, hands, head… They were everywhere.
I wanted screaming but I couldn’t find my voice.
