A LIAR AT THE ALTAR SEASON 2: CHAPTER 1 – 10
Chapter 8
Hey, baby.”
I whispered stroking his hair softly, I pecked his head and cheek. He caged my neck with his tiny hands not pulling away.
I put my arms around him and stood up.
“I’m so sorry, Mrs. Porter. How much time do I have?”
“An hour.”
“Thanks.”
I said with a big smile.
Kayden pulled away from me a little to look at my face, his blue eyes glimmered under the light above us, his baby pink lips pushed out in a pout. He touched my hair and my cheeks.
“How is my favourite person in the world doing?”
I asked and poked his nose, he giggled and bounced in my arms.
“Did you miss me?”
“Yess.”
He mumbled nodding his head frantically, I smiled and brushed his brown hair back, good thing he took my hair colour.
“Coco.”
He said pointing at the big living room, I followed the direction he was pointing.
His little finger pointed to the large screen tv where his favourite Nursery rhymes were playing.
He moved his head side-to-side to the song, I laughed softly and dropped him in the middle of the toys scattered around the living room.
I pecked his head and left to see Mrs. Porter, she was a widow and she’s been super nice to me and my baby.
A LIAR AT THE ALTAR SEASON 2: CHAPTER 1 – 10
After I found out I was pregnant, I freaked out especially with the media interested in everything going on in my life after the incident with the Sanchesters. They made up different stories to put in their lame gossip magazine.
I didn’t want anyone to know about the baby, I found out I was pregnant two weeks after I left Adrian’s place.
I called Vina immediately I got my things, she was mad at me at first for shutting her out.
We both agreed to rent an apartment, I stayed in a hotel for a couple of days before we found the perfect apartment.
I couldn’t tell Vina about the pregnancy, so I decided to leave California. I told Vina I was going on vacation, a long vacation. She didn’t question me, she only told me it was a good idea; that I needed it to clear my head, so I found myself in Cuba.
I stayed with a family in their two-bedroom apartment and agreed to pay them. I returned a few months later after having the baby.
I didn’t want to move away from Beverly Hills, I grew up here and had so many memories here. It was my home, I won’t move away because of a lunatic.
I didn’t know exactly what to do after returning to Beverly Hills with Kayden. I stayed in a hotel for a few days and that was where I met Mrs. Porter, she took a sudden liking to Kayden when she first saw him.
I told her everything that happened when she asked about the father, she offered to help hide him in her house, but she had rules.
I couldn’t visit once it was 9 pm.
I smiled at her as I took the seat next to her, she returned the smile.
“How was work?”
“Annoying as always.”
I said with a sigh.
“Hope Kayden didn’t cause so much trouble?”
“You know him already honey, he kicked me in the eye today when I tried to change his diaper.”
She said and laughed.
She was like a mother to me, it was nice to have Kayden here to keep her company. She didn’t have any child and sometimes I could feel her loneliness.
“Isn’t that your bag?”
I looked behind me at where Mrs. Porter was pointing, Kayden was removing everything in my bag, he stopped when he found my phone, I knew what he was about to do.
“Kayden, drop that.”
He stared at me for a long time not doing anything, he stood up and started running toward the kitchen.
“Kayden.”
I went after him, he looked back and giggled as he saw me coming after him.
“Don’t do that.”
I said as he stopped in front of the trash can, he took a glance at me and threw the phone into the trash can.
“Kayden”
I groaned, he giggled and ran away.
I got my phone and wiped it with a paper towel. I went back to the living room where Kayden was hiding behind Mrs. Porter’s seat.
I pretended not to see him, he peeped from behind the seat to look at me.
“Mommy?”
He called, I turned to look at him. He started running again giggling non-stop.
I went after him and scooped him in my arms, I dropped him gently on the couch.
“Gotcha!”
I tickled him making him giggle harder.

I held my breath as I opened the door to the apartment, I prayed Vina was in a deep sleep.
“Where have you been?”
I heard her voice from behind me and jumped almost peeing from the shock.
“Gsh Vina!”
I touched my chest and tried to calm my heartbeat.
“What? You’re the one sneaking in as always.”
She said from where she was sprawled on the couch.
“We closed late today.”
I said taking off my shoes.
“I don’t know what to believe anymore. If you’re seeing someone just admit it.”
“I’m not seeing anyone, I told you already relationship is the….”
“…. the last thing on your mind…blah blah blah, I know.”
I eyed her and went to the kitchen to grab something to eat.
“Grey came to look for you.”
“Why?”
“He wanted to hang out according to him.”
“Hmm.”
I hummed, Grey and I were good friends but not as close as before, a lot had changed and none of us could deny that. I have been avoiding him since I returned from Cuba. He was dating some girl named Gabriella, they looked good together.
Vina was the last person I wanted to hide things from. I wanted her to know about Kayden, but I couldn’t tell her without the thought of her telling someone else. To be honest, I had more trust in strangers than someone close to me.

Friday came in a flash, the diner was full tonight. We were only three at the cashier, Kate took the orders while I served them.
It was a long and busy night so when I saw Adrian enter the room, a wide smile made its way to my lips.
“Hey.”
He said stopping at the counter, it seemed he just left the office. His white button-down long-sleeved shirt was tucked into his black suit pants, the jacket was nowhere to be seen.
“Heyyy.”
I dragged mine with a big smile.
“Still working?”
“Yeah, I get off in ten minutes.”
“Okay, I will wait for you at the last booth over there.”
“Okay.”
I helped Kate clean up shortly after my shift was over, I took two cups of chilled chocolate Milkshake and joined Adrian, he looked so drained.
He was the only one managing the company now, the Sanchesters left Beverly hills after what happened. Should I call them cowards for running away or pretend I wasn’t the happiest when I got the news?
I didn’t know if they were ever coming back, it’s been three years now and they weren’t back, I hope they never return.
“How have you been?”
He asked and sucked from his straw.
“Fantastic.”
Big lie.
“Are you sure? You look so thin.”
I glared at him.
“Sorry, I just hate to see you working like you don’t have anyone to help you.”
“I’m not complaining, I will get there. How are you?”
“Good,” he flashed me a smile
“You call pale eyes and sleep bags, good?”
“It will be gone tomorrow morning.”
“Yeah, right,” I scoffed.
“Uhm before I forget, Tristan is back. He returned last night with his family. I just wanted you to know in case you….uhm…you wanna avoid him cause he’s been asking about you.”
They are back? Where can I find the most affordable flight ticket?
They are back?
“Hey, relax, ” Adrian said placing his hand on mine which had unknowingly balled into a fist on the table.
“I don’t think he is going to bother you anyway. He promised to stay away even if he’s asking for your home address,” He said removing his hand and leaning back on the seat.
“Did you tell him?” I asked already feeling betrayed. After the incident, I couldn’t help but feel like everyone close to me wanted to hurt me.
“No, he might be my best friend but I never wanna see you get hurt again.”
“Good,” I said under my breath and took a long sip through the yellow straw in the Milkshake.
I couldn’t really trust Adrian, I remember Tristan calling me one night a year ago. He only said my name and ended the call. I knew Adrian gave him my number but he never called back again.
“When are you returning to school?”
“This fall.”
“If you need help let me know.”
“I don’t need any help, Adrian,” Everyone assumed I needed help, I was the source of pity and I hated the feeling.
He gave me a skeptical look, I ignored him looking down at my cup that was about to go empty.
“Chlo.”
Kate called walking to our booth.
“Yeah?”
I stared at her golden locks instead, I really loved her hair. I have known her for a year, her dark eyes took a glance at Adrian before resting on me.
“Sorry to interrupt your date. I’m leaving, I wanted to know if you have your key.”
“Yeah, I do.”
“K, goodnight.”
She flashed me a smile and waved at Adrian.
We both exchanged a look after she left and laughed, I didn’t know why we never corrected her.
We talked a little more before we decided to leave.
“Why are you still single?”
I asked him during the ride back.
“I should ask you that too.”
He said taking a glance at me.
“I have commitment issues and trust me, I’m loving the single life.”
