NIGHT, 7PM*
Marcus stormed into the mansion, looking so worried and frustrated. He had been trying to reach Katharina for hours, but her phone went straight to voicemail. And now, it was switched off. He couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was terribly wrong.
“Where is everyone?” Marcus demanded and Mrs Dora came out from the kitchen, looking nervous.
“Welcome sir” she greeted him.
“Where’s Katharina?” He asked ignoring her greeting.
“I’m sorry, sir. I haven’t seen Miss Katharina since this morning. The last time I saw her was when she was heading to her room. I checked in on her this afternoon in her room to ask what she will like to eat but she wasn’t in,so I thought maybe she came to see you at the office”
“I haven’t seen her since this morning either. And now her phone is off. Something’s wrong”
Where was Katharina? And why wasn’t she answering her phone?
It was even the twins who came to pick Hazel from school. The school called him this afternoon while he was at the conference room that no one has come to pick Hazel yet. He thought maybe Katharina forgot,he called her but her number wasn’t reachable,he had to call the twins to pick her up.
Without hesitation, Marcus grabbed his car keys and rushed outside to his car. He jumped in, started the engine, and sped off towards Mrs Gray’s store – the only place he could think of where Katharina might be. As he drove, he silently prayed that he would find her there.
The drive felt like an eternity, but finally, he arrived at the store. Marcus leapt out of the car and rushed inside, just as Mrs Gray was about to lock up, Emily by her side
“Marcus! what are you doing here?” she asked, surprised to see him.
“Have you seen Katharina?” Marcus demanded.
“Katharina? No, I haven’t seen her. What’s wrong?”
“She’s missing. I haven’t been able to reach her all day, and her phone is off. I thought maybe she came to see you”
Emily, who had been quietly listening , spoke up.
“Mum is he talking about our Katharina?” She asked.
“Yes sweetie,it seems like Katharina is nowhere to be found”
Emily’s face fell, looking sad.
“Oh no, I hope she’s okay…”
“Don’t worry, dear. I’m sure Katharina will turn up soon”
“I should go. Thanks anyway”he said and Mrs Gray nodded.
“Yes, go. We’ll keep an eye out for her here”
Marcus turned to leave, he jumped into the car and sped off, his thoughts on Katharina only.
A car pulled up in front of the store. Bianca stepped out, looking stylish as always.
“Hey, Mrs Gray! I need something to wear to a date please”
“Of course, dear. Let’s find you some beautiful clothes”
“Emily dear how are you?” Bianca squatted before her and she smiled weakly.
“Mrs Gray, Where’s Katharina? It’s been long I’ve seen her”
“She’s missing” Emily blurted out and Bianca eyes widened.
“Oh no, Katharina’s missing? That’s terrible!”
“We don’t want to jump into conclusions yet but let’s say she’s missing for now,she hasn’t been found”Mrs Gray said.
“This can’t be happening”
“I’m worried too. Katharina doesn’t know anywhere in New York that much”
Bianca put a comforting arm around Mrs Gray shoulders.
“I believe she will show soon”
“You’re right. We will find her. Now let me get you what you came here for,a dress for a date right?”Mrs Gray asked.
“Yes, please”
“A date, huh? And who’s the lucky guy?”
Bianca blushed, looking down at her feet.
“Oh, it’s not something serious. Just a guy I met at the club last week”
“The club, huh? And what’s his name?”
“Max”
“Max, huh? Well, I hope Max is ready for a night out with our Bianca. She can dance the night away and still look stunning in the morning!”
Bianca laughed, playfully rolling her eyes.
“Mrs Gray, stop teasing!”they laughed as they entered into the store.
Emily stood quietly, thinking of Katharina. She silently prayed that nothing had happened to her and that she would be found soon, safe and sound.

THE BLACKWOOODS MANSION*
Marcus pulled up to the mansion, He jumped out of the car and rushed inside.
As he entered the living room,Hazel who was sitting on the couch, jumped up and flung herself at him.
“Daddy! Daddy! Have you found Katharina?” she asked with hopeful eyes.
Marcus knelt down to hug her, trying to reassure her.
“Not yet, sweetie. But I’m doing everything I can to find her”
Julian and Leonardo, approached him, looking worried.
“Any news, son?” Julian asked and Marcus shook his head.
“No, nothing yet. I’ve tried calling her, but her phone is off”
“Do you think something bad happened to her?”Mason chimed in.
“I don’t know, but I’m doing everything I can to find out. Don’t worry, kiddo, I’ll bring Katharina home safe and sound”
Hazel looked up at him with tears in her eyes.
“I miss her already, Daddy”
Marcus hugged her tight.
“I know, baby. Me too”
“Marcus, dear, we need to find Katharina soon. She’s supposed to start the wedding preparations with me next week. You just proposed to her last night, and we were all so excited to start planning the wedding”
“I know, Mother. I’ll find her, don’t worry”
Leonardo put a hand on his shoulder.
“We’ll help you, son. We’ll do everything we can to bring Katharina home safely. You two are meant to be together, and we won’t let anything get in the way of that”
“I want Katharina to be my stepmommy, Daddy. I want her to stay with us forever”
Marcus smiled and hugged her tight.
“I want that too, kiddo. And I’ll do everything I can to make sure it happens”
“Marcus, dear boy, do you think it’s too early to involve the police? I know you want to find Katharina, but maybe they can help us track her down”Leonardo asked.
Marcus hesitated, unsure if he was ready to involve the police yet.
“I don’t know, Father. I don’t want to alarm them unnecessarily. But at the same time, I want to make sure Katharina is safe”
“I think it’s a good idea, Leonardo. We can’t just sit around and do nothing. The police can help us find her”
“Okay, let’s do it. Let’s involve the police and see if they can help us find Katharina”
“Will they find Katharina, Daddy?”Hazel asked.
“I hope so, kiddo. I hope so”
“I would have said Natalie is behind all this but she’s dead already” Madison said.
“Let’s just hope it’s nothing serious,who knows if she’s at home already” Mason said.
“I need to go to my room” Madison said and left for her with Mason following her.
“Why are you following me?” Madison asked as she closed the door after Mason came in.
“I’m so disappointed in you”
“Disappointed? Why?”
“Charlotte told me what happened. Can’t believe you betrayed her,you were dating her boyfriend behind her back” he said and she hissed.
“That talkative. I don’t regret it one bit,I like Jace and he likes me too”
“Use your head sis,what gave you the assurance that he even likes you?”
Madison shrugged.
“I just know he likes me and besides I couldn’t help how I feel, Mason. I like Jace, and he likes me too”
“You know Charlotte trusts you, and you stabbed her in the back like that? You’re supposed to be her friend, her confidante, not the one stealing her boyfriend”
Madison rolled her eyes.
“Don’t be so dramatic, Mason. It’s just a relationship”
“Just a relationship? You’re ruining your friendship with Charlotte, and possibly our relationship too. What’s wrong with you, Madison? Can’t you see how hurtful your actions are?”
“Whatever, Mason”
“No, not ‘whatever’. You need to apologize to Charlotte and make things right”
“I’m not doing that, apologize my foot”
“You’re going to regret this, Madison. You’re throwing away a valuable friendship for something that may not even last. Jace may not even truly care about you”
Madison scoffed.
“And why should I believe you? Why are you even defending her?”
“I’m defending Charlotte because what you did was wrong. And I’m your twin, Madison. I know you better than anyone. You’re making a mistake, and it’s going to hurt you in the end”
Madison shrugged, looking away.
“I’m willing to take that risk”
Mason sighed, shaking his head.
“Fine, but don’t come crying to me when it all falls apart” He turned and walked out of the room, leaving Madison alone with her thoughts.

VALDORIA KINGDOM*
Katharina slowly opened her eyes.
She frowned, trying to place the familiar surroundings. The lavish bed, the velvet curtains, the ornate furniture – it all seemed to belong to a life she thought she’d left behind.
With a sudden jolt, she sat upright, her heart beating fast. She looked around the room again, this time with a sense of growing unease. Then realization hit her she was back in the palace, in her old bedroom.
Katharina’s tried to piece together how she got there. She only remembered someone attacking her from behind and then… nothing. How did she end up back in the palace?
She threw off the covers and swung her legs over the side of the bed, her feet dangling in the air.
Katharina stood up and began to pace around the room.
How did she get here? And how could she escape again?
Just as Katharina was trying to gather her thoughts, she heard a knock at the door. She jolted a little, her heart skipping a beat. She wasn’t expecting anyone.
She hesitated for a moment before going to answer the door. She slowly turned the handle and pulled it open, wondering who it could be.
It was a guard.
“Your Highness” he said, bowing slightly.
“The king requests your presence in the throne room. He also wishes for you to change into more suitable attire before attending him” he said and Katharina raised an eyebrow.
“What’s wrong with what I’m wearing?” she asked, looking down at her clothes. She was wearing a shirt shirt and blue jeans.
“The king feels that your current attire is not fitting for a princess. He requests that you wear something more…traditional”
Katharina sighed inwardly. She knew exactly what her father meant. He wanted her to wear one of the elaborate gowns.
“Fine,I’ll change”she said.
The guard nodded and left. She wanted to ask him about Elara but decided against it.
Katharina sighed and made her way to her walk in closet, where her traditional gowns were kept and she felt nostalgic. She hadn’t worn any of these clothes for a long time, not since she’d left the palace to start a new life.
She ran her fingers over the intricate embroidery and delicate lace, remembering the countless hours she’d spent in this very room, getting ready for balls and ceremonies.
She pulled out a gown, holding it up against herself. It felt strange, like she was looking at a different person. She hadn’t realized how much she’d changed until now.
With a sigh, Katharina began to change into the gown, her mind wandering back to Marcus and everyone.

Katharina made her way to the throne room, everyone was greeting her respectfully on the way and she smiled at them.
She took a deep breath before entering and there sat her father, King Ryker, sitting on the throne.
“Father” Katharina said, curtsying slightly.
“So, if I didn’t send someone to get you…you won’t think of coming back?”
Katharina swallowed hard, trying to find the right words.
“I—”
“Why did you run away, Katharina?” King Ryker interrupted coldly.
“Why did you disobey me and leave the kingdom?”
“I wanted a chance at a real life, Father. A life where I’m not just a princess, but a person. A life where no one will tell me what to do”
“You’re a princess, Katharina. You’ll do as I say. You’ll fulfill your duties and marry who I choose”
“I won’t go back to being a prisoner, Father. I won’t marry someone I don’t love”
“You’ll do as I say, Katharina. Or face the consequences”
“And what’s the consequences?”
“Bring in Elara” he ordered.
Katharina’s heart skipped a beat as the guards dragged in Elara.
Elara’s face was bruised and swollen, she must be tortured a lot, Katharina felt guilty immediately.
“Elara!” Katharina cried, trying to rush to her side, but the guards held her back.
“My princess” Elara cried.
“Father please release her”
“You see, Katharina, if you want me to release Elara and spare her life, then you’ll do exactly as I say. You’ll marry Prince Henry, and you’ll do it with a smile on your face”
Marry Prince Henry? The main reason she ran away from the kingdom.
“Not again, father. I have someone I want to marry already”
“I know,the spy I sent told me everything but guess what? I don’t care”he said.
“I won’t do it”
King Ryker shrugged.
“Very well. Then Elara will suffer the consequences. Guards, take her away”
“Wait!” She said before the guards could take her away and the King looked at her.
“You have just two options. You can either marry Prince Henry, and spare Elara’s life…or you can refuse, and Elara will suffer the consequences. The choice is yours”
