“Why are you so beautiful?”
Katharina’s eyes widened, and her lips parted, but she couldn’t say a word. She was speechless, unable to respond to Marcus’ question.
Marcus smiled and took a step closer to her.
“You know, I think you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen, Your eyes are like the ocean, and your hair is like gold. You’re stunning”
Katharina’s face turned bright red, and she still couldn’t find her voice. She was taken aback by Marcus’ words.
“My name is Marcus” he said, holding out his hand. “And you are…?”
Katharina finally found her voice. “K-Katharina”
Marcus smiled and took her hand in his.
“Nice to meet you, Katharina. You’re lovely”
As Marcus and Katharina stood there, the teachers and students around them began to take notice. Whispers and gasps filled the air.
The teachers’ eyes widened in surprise, and some of the students pointed and giggled.
Meanwhile, Hazel was in class sitting at her desk, looking unhappy when her best friend Jake walked up to her.
“Hey, Hazel, guess what?” he said.
Hazel looked up at him. “What?”
“Your dad is talking to a woman outside,I saw them through the window” Jake said and Hazel frowned slightly.
“My dad? He’s not gone yet?” She asked.
“Yes”Jake said and she followed him to the window and they peeped at them, her eyes landing on Katharina.
Hazel’s eyes remained fixed on Katharina. She couldn’t help but stare at the woman her father was talking to.
Suddenly, Hazel’s thoughts spilled out of her mouth.
“She’s damn pretty!” she blurted out, her voice loud enough for Jake to hear.
“Hazel, shh! Not so loud!”
But Hazel didn’t care. She was too busy staring at Katharina, her eyes drinking in the woman’s beauty. She couldn’t deny it – Katharina was stunning.
“Hey, Hazel, maybe we should go back to our seats, okay?”
But Hazel shook her head, her eyes still fixed on Katharina.
“No way, I want to see what’s going on”
“Fine”
“Who is this woman? And why is she making my dad smile like that?”
Just then, Emily came into the class and Jake turned to her and said, “hi” Emily on the other hand was surprised and didn’t know what to say.
Hazel looked at Jake, then at Emily, her expression disdainful.
“Why are you talking to her, Jake?” she asked and then she turned to Emily.
“You’re…you’re not exactly the kind of person we associate with, Emily”
Emily’s face fell. “Oh, I see. Well, sorry, I didn’t mean to intrude”
“Hazel, come on, don’t be like that” Jake said.
“No, Jake, she’s not our kind. She’s…poor”
Emily’s eyes welled up with tears, hurt by Hazel’s harsh words. She turned and ran out of the classroom, tears streaming down her face.
“Hazel, that was really uncalled,You can be so mean sometimes” he said and Hazel shrugged.
“I’m just telling the truth, Emily’s not our kind. She’s poor, Jake. She doesn’t belong in our world” she said and with that,she went back to her seat.

BLACKWOOD WINE COMPANY*
Marcus arrived at the Blackwood Wine Company, and walked into the building. The receptionist greeted him with a smile, and he nodded in response.
He entered his office and He took a seat behind his desk, and moments later, his secretary Rhea walked in, a tablet in her hand.
“Good morning, Mr. Blackwood,Here’s your schedule for the day”
Marcus nodded, his eyes scanning the list.
“Ah, the board meeting at 10 am. Remind me what’s on the agenda?”
“We’re discussing the next wine production cycle, sir, The team has some new ideas they’d like to present”
“Excellent, And what else do I have today?”
“You have a charity gala tonight, sir. The ‘Wine and Dine for a Cause’ event. You’re scheduled to give a speech and donate a special batch of wine for the auction”
“Ah, yes. I remember. Make sure the wine is delivered to the event on time, Rhea. And send a reminder to my team to be prepared for the meeting”
“Of course, Mr. Blackwood. I’ll take care of it”
With that, she turned and left, leaving Marcus to his thoughts.
As Marcus sat in his office, his mind began to wander back to Katharina. He couldn’t help but smile as he thought about their little conversation this morning . Her beauty, and her captivating smile all lingered in his thoughts.
Just as he was lost in his daydream, Rhea reappeared at his door.
“Sir, it’s time for the board meeting”
“Okay ” He stood up, straightened his suit, and headed out the door with Rhea leading the way.

MRS GRAY’S STORE*
“You’ve been smiling since you came back from Emily’s school,what is it that’s making you smile my dear?” Mrs Gray asked Katharina who have been smiling for a while now.
“It’s nothing. Mrs Gray,I want to go job hunting tomorrow” Katharina said.
“Why?”
“I don’t want to be a liability to you,I want will work and support you”
“I wasn’t complaining, Katharina”
“I know but still…” She trailed off.
“So what type of job is that?”
“I don’t know yet but I will surely see one that suits my taste tomorrow”
“Alright dear” Mrs Gray said and she left to attend to a customer who just came in.
“Welcome to Mrs. Gray’s Store! How can I help you today?”
“I’m looking for a new dress for the charity gala tonight. I heard Marcus Blackwood will be attending, and I want to make a good impression” the lady said.
Katharina suddenly became interested at the mention of Marcus’ name.
“Oh, the charity gala!” Mrs. Gray exclaimed.
“Yes, it’s a wonderful event. Marcus Blackwood is a generous supporter of the cause. He’ll be giving a speech and donating a special batch of wine for the auction”
Katharina’s was even more interested now. She had never been to a charity gala before, but the thought of seeing Marcus again was tempting.
“Do you think it’s open to the public?” Katharina asked.
“Yes, it is. Anyone can attend. But you’ll need to buy a ticket, of course. Proceeds go to the charity” the lady replied.
Katharina’s mind raced with the possibility of attending the gala. She couldn’t resist the chance to see Marcus again.
“Thank you for the information” Katharina said, trying to sound casual.
“I might just have to check it out”
Mrs. Gray smiled knowingly.
“I think you should dear, and I get you covered on your outfits”
“Aww thanks so much,now it’s just the tickets I need to get now”
“If you don’t mind,I can give you one of my tickets. I actually bought two just incase” the lady said.
“I’m so grateful” Katharina said and the lady smiled.
“I’m Bianca by the way” she introduced.
“Katharina” she said smiling.

NIGHT AT THE CHARITY GALA*
Marcus stepped out of his black limousine with his secretary and onto the red carpet, flashing a charming smile at the paparazzi. He was dressed to impress in a tailored tuxedo, his dark hair perfectly styled.
🗣️OMG!
🗣️This man is screaming hot!
🗣️ I love him!
🗣️ He’s so handsome geez!
Marcus shaked hands and chatted with the other guests. He was a kind and generous man, and his donations had made a big difference to the charity. When he walked into the main room, the crowd moved aside to let him through, and he went up to the microphone to give his speech.
“Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed guests, and fellow philanthropists, I am honored to be here tonight to support this noble cause. As we gather in this grand ballroom, let us remember the importance of giving back to our community…”
As he spoke, the entrance door opened, and Katharina walked in, dressed in a stunning black gown that hugged her curves in all the right places. Her hair was styled perfectly. Marcus’ eyes widened, and he couldn’t help but stare. He was taken aback by her sudden appearance, and his speech faltered for a moment.
Katharina’s eyes met with Marcus, and she smiled shyly, feeling a little nervous but also excited to see him again.
Marcus composed himself and continued his speech, but his eyes kept drifting back to Katharina. He couldn’t believe his luck. The woman he had been thinking about all day at the office was now standing in front of him, looking more beautiful than he had ever imagined.
As Marcus finished his speech and handed over the check, the Master of Ceremonies (MC) took up the microphone.
“Ladies and gentlemen, please give a round of applause to our generous donor, Marcus Blackwood!” the MC exclaimed and the crowd erupted into applause once again, and Marcus smiled.
“And now, it’s time for the auction! We have some amazing items up for bid, and all proceeds will go to support our charity. Let’s start with a special bottle of wine, donated by Blackwood Wine Company. It’s a rare vintage, and it’s sure to fetch a high price. Who will start the bidding at $1,000?”
The crowd murmured, and a few hands went up. The MC grinned.
“Do I hear $2,000? $3,000? $5,000?”
Bianca who was beside Katharina,raised up her hand and the crowd gasped.
“Ah, we have a new bidder!” the MC exclaimed. “The lady in the red dress, you’re bidding $10,000! Do I hear $15,000?”
“Then congratulations! You won the bid” the MC said and everyone applauded.
Katharina’s eyes scanned the room, But then, her gaze landed on something that made her heart skip a beat. A figure on the balcony above, wearing a mask and aiming a gun at Marcus.
Her eyes widened in horror as she screamed at the top of her lungs, “Marcus, watch out!!!”
But it was too late. The gun went off, and Marcus crumpled to the ground, a red stain spreading across his stomach.
