CHAPTER 44
Melanie creased her brow before chuckling.
“I can actually eat by myself”
“Oh…” He handed the plate to her and walked to the sink. He started washing the utensils.
“Thank you,” Melanie suddenly said.
He glanced at her before facing what he was doing.
“For caring for me, I’m truly grateful”
“I just did what I was supposed to do” he shrugged.
Melanie ate the fruit, glancing at him at intervals. Somehow, it was as though she was seeing another person entirely different from Axel. He seems different from the Axel she knows.
“Erm…. I already washed your jacket, I’ll return it to you when it dries” Melanie broke the silence.
“You can have it” Axel said.
“What? That’s gonna be two of your jackets with me,” she frowned.
“I have a lot so it’s nothing. Besides,” he looked at her.
“You should be taking it along with you wherever you go, you might need it someday” he said.
“I don’t think…” Melanie bit her lips. She would have felt more embarrassed if he was talking about her stained clothes, but he didn’t. That, she was grateful for.
“Are you done?” Axel asked, wiping his hand with a handkerchief.
“Huh?” She faced the plates to find some fruits left.
“Want some?” She asked.
“Nah, I’m fine. You need it the most right now” he said, walking back to her.
“How’s your stomach? Does it still hurt?” His hand went to her clothes and she quickly placed her hand on his, stopping him.
“Not anymore, you don’t have to worry” she grinned awkwardly.
Axel nodded and took his hand away.
“Will you be fine alone? I need to be in my room” he muttered.
“Sure, I’ll be fine,” She said.
Axel walked to the door.
“Axel!” She suddenly called.
He turned.
“Thank you. For caring about me even if I was harsh to you” Melanie said.
Then, he flashed her the most beautiful smile she had ever seen which made her heart skip a beat.
He left the kitchen without a word.
Immediately he was gone, Melanie’s hand went to her chest and rubbed it slowly.
“Gosh, what’s wrong with me?” She mumbled.
She glanced at the plate on her lap, she quickly ate the fruit and washed the plate. Afterwards, she left the kitchen.

A girl walked to a room and met Mrs. Braun and her husband together. She walked closer to them and pouted her lips.
“When is Axel coming home? This is really getting out of hand” she frowned.
“Ariel, take it easy, okay? He just needs a little space, this was so sudden after all” Mr. Braun said.
“This is becoming unbearable, I miss him, Dad. Why don’t I visit him? You know his house, right?” Ariel suggested.
“Sure, that’ll do. I’m sure he’s also worried about you. Don’t worry love, he’s surely yours, nothing is ever gonna stop that” Mrs. Braun assured.
Ariel let out a smile.
“That’s why I love you, Mom” she blew a kiss at her.
Mrs. Braun chuckled.
“So, should we visit tomorrow?” Ariel asked in excitement.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea, Axel won’t love that,” Mr. Braun said.
“Why won’t he? We’re his parents and he needs to accept it that way” Mrs. Braun said.
“So, tomorrow??” Ariel raised a brow
“Tomorrow it is love,” Mrs. Braun smiled.
“I’m so excited right now, see you later!” Ariel jumped up happily before leaving the room
“She seems so happy,” Mrs. Braun smiled.
“Yea…”
